But I really doubt it will happen. These "meetups" I keep hearing about are great, and I'm glad this campaign has volunteer momentum. But at some point your going to need professional organization in key states (early states) - people who know how to do more than put up signs.

Speaking of volunteer numbers, though, I wonder how accurate it is to say Paul has x times more than any other candidate. I would guess most volunteers for other campaigns are oganizing through the campaign itself, immediately falling under the structure of that professional staffing I mentioned, and not going through this unaffiliated website.

Ron Paul's warchest

If Ron Paul wins the GOP nomination, I'll vote for him. And that is not some arbitrary "what I like is good and constitutional, what I don't like is bad and unconstitutional" Dr. Paul ("Dr. No") actually supports his oath to uphold the constitution. People make Dr. Paul out as some sort of extremist (he is a funny old guy), but the real extremists are the people and parties who are entrenched in DC and across the country. I'll even throw the media in there as well. The current parties and politicians are the ones who subvert the constitutional compact and belong in prison.

To sum up the enumerated powers (Article I Section VIII-- which Dr. Paul supports), the federal bill of rights, according to its preamble, was put in place because of a desire expressed by representatives in the state ratifying convnentions, that further (on top of Article I Section IX) declaratory and restrictive clauses were needed "to prevent misconstruction or abuse" of federal power. The chief concerns were over the words "general welfare" and "necessary and proper." All three branches, through the years, but tracing back to the 1790s, have slowly inverted the system to make the fed supreme. Destroying the federal system as expressed in the constitution and replacing it with a national system-- the kind Hamilton proposed and had overwhelmingly rejected in Philadelphia. Hamilton's goal was to create a national legislature with plenary powers. He even proposed eliminating the state governments. Though Hamilton failed, his ilk through the years have succeeded in implementing their scheme.

Aside from destroying the senate with the 17th Amendment and claiming ownership over all people and property in the US with the 16th amendment, the federal government has not legitimately or constitutionally increased the scope of its powers. This my friends, is called usurpation... which happened to be one of the primary reasons listed in the Declaration of Independence some 230 years ago.

For example, the current debate over national socialized medicine is pointless. States, subject to their own constitutions can have this debate, but it's unconstitutional at the federal level without amending the constitution.

Regardless of whether Dr. Paul could someone miraculously move into the oval office, serious discussion should be made about states withdrawing from the federal union. The states are the principal, the fed is merely the agent entrusted with "delegated" powers. I have no problem leaving the current crop of political crooks and thieves to their usual tricks, so long as they have no power to tax me or pass laws abridging my freedom.

Dr. Ron Paul for President, or bust.

Ron Paul's warchest

I love Ron Paul's position on sound money and the Federal Reserve. On this, he is unparalleled among all the bozos running. Most of those clowns probably don't even understand the fundamental economic and moral importance of this issue.

Only Ron Paul stands in the way of a Democratic sweep in '08.

Ron Paul's warchest

For Paul Miller:

That's just it, Ron DOES go through 'unaffiliated' websites like Meetup t. You can assure yourself that the war will be over and you can vote for your candidate (hopefully it will be for Dr. Paul on the basis of freedom). Registering Republican doesn't restrict your vote in the presidency. A registered republican who votes for Paul is a vote for peace. I like Paul for other reasons, but this is the best person to vote for in the primaries for peace.

Ron Paul's warchest

Agree with me this far: Ron Paul has been a surprise success so far. Agree with me further: he may bring more surprises in the future. I am weary of those who failed to predict his rise, but who now confidently predict his ultimate fall. Support Ron Paul and make change happen.

Ron Paul's warchest

Just got 2 more acquaintances turned on to Ron Paul and his freedom message. This is a wake-up call to those who say they could not vote for this man. People from all over the globe know more about him than alot of the eligible voters do. The reason? It's the mainstream media censoring him as well as our corrupt 2 party system. He is a major threat to these establishments. People from other countries only wish they had someone like him to vote for in their own country because they recognize his true freedom message & that he would be good not only for the USA, but the whole world! Blog websites are being created for him worldwide in many different languages. He not only brings together liberals & conservatives, democrats & republicans, independents & 3rd parties, but also all nations. And now to top it off, even our own Veterans & Military! This man sells himself if given the proper platform to be heard by all. He simply cannot be bought by lobbyists & special interest groups. How refreshing is that? Those who would discredit him either misunderstand his positions or just don't realize what being free truly means. I urge those to dig deeper, do more research, & really understand what our Constitution & Bill of Rights means to our Republic. What our Founding Fathers said over 200 years ago still does apply in this day & age. After all, they gave us these bylaws to protect We The People from our own Government, not the other way around. If you think he is an isolationist, just think how our current & past administrations have done just that, isolate America from most other countries! Want True Freedom, Liberty & Justice for All? We have the cure to what ails US all. Professional staffs do more than message control; and a campaign is more than putting up signs.

I do hope that Ron Paul can make a good showing, and I'm impressed at what seems to be growing support - if these blogs are any indication. But in the respect that there isn't any organization, I have to say it looks a lot like a Libertarian Party campaign.

Let's just take one small example. Who is putting together the state and even more localized databases of supporters? Seems like its probably no one, so how is the campaign going to do GOTV, and for that matter who would do it assuming you knew which voters to get out?

Last I heard, Ron Paul has one staffer in New Hampshire, and he's a kid out of college and not from there I don't believe. And that's the only state that does have anyone. I think I saw that in some article from a New Hampshire paper like a month ago, so maybe things have improved since.

Ron Paul's warchest

These numbers also don't count those of us who spend our own money on stickers, make our own signs, and do our own mini-campaigning for Ron without giving much money to the actual campaign or being involved with them at all outside reading the campaign blog and trying to get goals that they set forward accomplished.

Also, why aren't you covering this?

http://thespinfactor.com/thetruth/2007/07/16/military-support-for-the-republican-candidates

Ron Paul is raising more money from the military than the other Republican candidates! The existing government and its two party system has long forgotten the principles upon which the country was founded.

If our generation does not restore the PRINCIPLES OF OUR FOUNDERS, our children and grand children will never know what the word FREEDOM really means.

RON PAUL may be our last chance!

Ron Paul's warchest

It's simple really. There are more fed-up Republicans and Democrats, Libertarians, Green, Taxpayer, and Independent party members than there are hard-core, dedicated main stream candidate supporters. The silent, dissolutioned majority just hasn't had a viable candidate with a long and trust-worthy track record before. Remember the phrase, "Don't tread on me"? Yeah. That applies here. And by the way, why doesn't MSNBC look into who got the most financial support from members of the U.S. military and veterans in the recent FEC report. Uh Oh. I see a trend here.

Ron Paul's warchest

America wants Ron Paul!

Ron Paul's warchest

I have changed my whole view on politics in this country as a result of watching reading and listening to Ron Paul!
