I've never had any respect for him anyway but this just confirms my disgust. Re his statement that Plame wasn't covert at the time: Not what the CIA says and they have the records to prove it. Did Fitzgerald lie when he released his discovery information during the sentencing portion of Libby's trial that showed Plame had travelled on missions within 5 years before her outing. Did the CIA lie when they entered into the congressional record Plame's status of being covert, a NOC, and classified. The Aldridge Aimes claim was looked into by Fitz, and he determined it wasn't true.

And here's another question, who told Novakula about Brewster-Jennings, a CIA front company, which he wrote about in a second article. That would have destroyed the cover of other CIA operatives, and their cultivated sources. I'm quite sure most of Plame's sources were executed, as spying yields the ultimate penalty in all countries, including America.

I would love the see the damage assessment report. I also vaguely remember, around the time Plame was outted, seeing a report on TV, by CNN, about some americans found dead in Pakistan but I don't remember any additional reporting and have not been able to find any information thru Google. The reason I mention it is because Pakistan is not a tourist destination, so if some americans died their they would have to be charity workers, government official, or businessmen. We know that Plame and others work in the Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan regions. Either way, it should have been a major story.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

"Novak is a smal, ugly little man."

I think someones smitten.

He's a few steps up for you H P.

Aren't there any drop dead (literally) drunks around where you prowl?

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

The latest breaking news is that a federal judge has given Plames lawsuit against the administration the boot.Mebbe Wilson can get a job shilling classic rock on VH1.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

I agree with PJ Fuller. The militias have finally taken over the Repug party. We have to stop this now. Vote Dem, Ind, or anybody but do not vote for Repugs.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

in the middle from texas, enough already with clinton. you sound like a little kid who keeps saying "if he did i can do it too". it is 2007 and we are in the middle of a mess. $2 trillion by the time this is done and 4,000 soldiers killed. that has nothing to do with clinton. it has to do with bush and cheney. period. we were all sold a war like it was soda. novak acted like a marketer from a competing soda company. many bought into it temporarily. now that we know, we can realize that the biggest "anti-american" thing that was done was that we did not question it.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

NOVAK IS IN MY OPINION A MORE HONEST JOURNALIST THAN MOLST OF THE OTHERS. He told them it wasn't true that Iraq tried to buy uranium. The VP didn't like that result, so his gophers responded by outing his wife as a CIA agent. Wilson was a little put out by someone going after his wife. For that, you think he should be killed--euthanized, I believe you said. You think that's a healthy view? You should perhaps work on winding down a little.
 4) Not on the subject, but re-reading this, I'm sure the rabid think I couldn't possibly be a conservative, so how about this--I'm tired of hearing we can't throw 11 million illegals out of this country, we've got 11 million unemployed and they would damn well take the jobs if you stopped doling out cash to them for nothing. I don't believe there's any reason Charlie Manson and people like him should be locked up for life, when there are perfectly good ways of ending theirs. I don't think the government should spend more than they take in, I would be all for a flat tax on earnings, and Jesus and I get along just fine. And I would love to see reasonable responses to articles like this, instead of postings that foam from the mouth.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

How can one be covert seven years after being outed by the KGB(1996)and twice outing herself before any of this Dog and Pony show ever started?

If Plame was still covert, her handler's need to be fired. Why? to shed the liberal label, they decided to print lies of the right instead of truth from the left.
Let's not lose sight of what this is all about. Lies abot the war. Forged documents that got us into it. Forgeries that impinged Colin Powell's credibility and led to death, trauma, displacement by the millions of refugees (including the Iraqi middleclass without which no real democracy will ever exixt), and draining of our treasury to the detriment of domestic security and infrastructure. Forgeries the whole world's intelligence agencies including ours knew were forgeries (no wonde so many who helped us in Afghanistan were against Iraq – and by the way you “what about Saddam” folks – good you got him, so let’s reduce to the 50,000 troops a la the Democrats’ proposal. Every ethnic group in Iraq wants us out by a vast majority. If there was democracy there the wishes of the people would be honored – hell even al Maliki said the Iraqis could handle it). It's not so much about Wilson (who was the most qualified person alive to do the Niger-Uranium investigation) or Plame (who's outing was an assault on our intel capacities regarding any WMD-terrorist connection in the offing). It is about how the neocons will attack a whistleblower by saying his wife had something to do with a brief assignment he was given, true or not (Probably Not) saying if your wife helped you get something, you're less of a man. What can we say about this trivialization in the face of the death and waste of Iraq these treasonous devils have wrought except they are attacking from a place of total id, animalistic reaction, the most base uncultured aspects of (barely) humanity. Goodbye and good luck.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

It seems none of the Novak lovers here know how to spell and/or construct a decent sentence. Although this war may not be the most agreeable endeavor our country has ever embarked on, why do so many liberal Democrats keep talking about the "lies" that lead up to the Iraq war (including the Yellowcake Uranium story/Joe Wilson trip). Even though Bush pulled the trigger on the Iraq invasion, our biggest enemy when Clinton was President (and most militarily attacked opponent) was Iraq. He completely believed that Saddam had WMDs and bombed him for it(Google search- Clinton explains Iraq Strike December 16, 1998). Eye opening!!
I hate to say it but "Liberals" often sound too emotional to me. His lack of integrity and arrogance infects our newspapers, airwaves, government, and society as a whole. Mr. Novak and others like him will continue to ignore the fact that there is ample proof and documentation that Valerie Plame was a covert agent within 5 years of her outing by the republican hit team of Dick Cheney. He, Sean Hannity,Rush Limbough and others constantly lie on the air misquoting and distorting facts in order to further the "one party" agenda. As americans, we have lost our rights to privacy, habeus corpus, possi comatati. We have a president and vice president that have issued more signing statements than all other presidents combined, they have borrowed more money than all other presidents combined, they have lied and manipulated us into war, they have made the world a much more dangerous place, they have insulted the congress and the american people, and they are not to be trusted to ever tell the truth about anything. Mr. Novak and others like him are directly responsible for aiding, supporting and encouraging the facsist Bush-Cheney regime rape and plunder everything that The United States use to stand for. This is a pattern with those who disagree and publicly critique this administration, frequently by those who were formerly in it!

Wilson was sent to Africa to examine the "yellow cake" story. His investigation proved that it was not credible nor true. That fact is not in dispute even today. Yet Bush continued to use that piece of discredited evidence in his speech justifying the attack on Iraq.

In retailiation for his public rebuke of the President's "yellow cake" assertion, his family was attacked thru his wife. Well, they did leak her name and occupation to all the foreign agents in the world; they just used a middleman to do the treason; his name is Robert Novak -- a willing, "funny tool" for treason.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

What those spouting the Right Wing Republican't Talking Points (tm) don't address is whether Plame was or was not "covert" within the meaning of the Intelligence Agents Protection Act (or whatever it's called), her identity was clearly labeled "classified" in that talking paper that was circulating around Air Force One.

Thus he was revealing classified information, whether or not he was outing a covert agent.

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

First, the CIA says in filed court documents that Plame was covert, Novak says she wasn't. Do I believe the organization in the know who made legally bound truthful statements, or a partisan flamethrower who admits to happily destroying the career of a government employee? Yeah, that's a tough one.

Second, Fitzgerald was very clear that Libby was blocking further investigation into who leaked the name. Libby was charged with "obstruction of justice." Duh. He said it in his statements, and in the court record. It's common for prosecutors not to charged certain suspected in order to get at bigger fish.

But of course this info is all readily available to people who really want to understand it, as opposed to the conservative posters here who are just looking for other 29 percenters to echo their delusions and lame ad hominim attacks.

BTW, the stuff about liberals and progressives not appreciating the CIA is pretty comical. I'm sorry some conservatives can't tell the difference between the good people who work at a government agency, and the sometimes sordid ends they are used for. Glad I can.

But anyhow, keep the hits rolling. The bits about how liberals don't listen to anything not said by a Clinton was particularly funny. Do appreciate the reminder of how good we had it when Bill was running the place, though...

If it makes conservatives feel better during the meltdown of their party and the slow-motion collapse of their ideology, more power to 'em...

What else ya got?

The Dems are racist and hispanics will all vote Republican in 2008?
New Orleans was helped by Katrina by getting rid of "those people"?

Keep 'em coming..

Novak justifies outing Plame & sources

Gosh that - not covert cause Bush says so - woman should never have told her husband to go to Niger.

Its all her fault. The fact that Armitage weaseled our with immunity and Libby weaseled out through Bushie's illegal commutation you would think would be enough for even the dimmest of bulbs to comprehend there is a conspiracy in the White House to cover this up but noooooo! All they can think about is a blow job 10 years ago. Clinton's personal indiscretions have NO BEARING on what is going on NOW. What this admin. did to Joe Wilson for simply TELLING THE TRUTH to Americans by going after his WIFE shows what absolute chickensh!t wimps Neocons are. Neocons condone out and out criminal cronyism, a complete disregard for the Rule of Law, and lawless and baseless use of Executive Priviledge to further cover up their crimes.
