Thank you Joe Biden. The treatment of detainees Abu Graid and Guantanamo has been disgraceful. This treatment violates the ('quaint' per Gonzogate) Geneva Convention. Those people who criticize trial lawyers should look at the lawyers kn Bush's 'Justice' Department. They're absolutely disgraceful. This is the most evil adminsitration since Reagan.

I agree with Sierra, let's close Gitmo! These scum of the earth have no business being in our jails in the first place! Let us send them back to their country of origin, so they can be tortured without our interference. As they scream from having their toenails ripped from their bodies, they will curse the liberals for caring about them. AS they are fed slop that would make a billy goat puke, they will remember the 3 squares a day our military fed them. As they sit in a dungeon hearing their comrades screaming and begging for mercy, they will realize they had it better at Club Gitmo. I will enjoy the stories of how they were treated in their own country, treated as well as Michael Vick treated his dogs. After all, the liberals feel that having water poured over your head is very very bad. You are right Sierra, Gitmo is no place to keep those people. Let their own goverment handle their problems, probably give them a 10 yard head start and mow them down with machine gun fire or beheaded like they do in Saudi Arabia.

So in other words, the New York Times has made my argument for me. Single, stupid women are going to vote for her while older, smarter women are on a wait and see approach. Edwards may be a good soul and a good listener, but he is still the wrong person to talk about poverty. His own hometown newspaper doesn't give him much credit, as well as his own home state. But that's alright nobody in Tennessee likes Al Gore either. But just like all politicians, when the end of the day comes, poverty is still there and will be there. Edwards and all his plans, if he is so good, why is he third then? Could it be all the other stuff (haircuts, hedge fund, his wife) have taken their toll on his campaign?

Actually, jerry, lots of the people sent home from Gitmo were released by their governments once they got back. The problem with the detention at Gitmo is that these people's guilt has never been proven, nor have they ever been charged with anything.

Not sure what you know about Tennessee, but Al is very well liked in Tennessee - just not the wealthy parts of Tennessee and as for those parts of Tennessee - Franklin my Dear I don't give a damn about them - Belle Meade, Brentwood, Germantown (Memphis rich not the Beale Street area), could care less if they even eat tomorrow, they are the "snooty I could care less about you except the part of where you take care of my children, wash my car, clean my house, and mow my grass at a wage I would snub my nose at" new move ins that the natives don't like or want. Al would never have lost Tennessee if they had kept their snooty buts in Texas and Florida - wish they would go back home, can't tell you one thing they have done to promote my state or the people in it. So, you are wrong, I like Al and Tipper - so does most of my family (a very large one) and neighbors. That would be like me saying no one in Texas likes shrub - oh wait, that is starting to change according to my uncle who lives not far from the "ranch", haha. Its a mixed poll for Clinton. There's also some good news for her in that there is some signs of her image softening among some women, and also some signs of room to gain support.

But the age thing and the education thing isn't so good for Clinton. Older and better educated people tend to vote more reliably.

This is a reverse of some earlier indicators we had, suggesting that the younger voters were leaning more toward Obama and older more toward Clinton. Now if this poll is accurate we may be seeing a dynamic of where older people are waiting to see what happens, while younger are deciding earlier, and tending to split along educational lines between the two.

A number of people are either figuring out independently or repeating the notion that we might be coming up on a "Dewey wins" moment with regard to polling. The problem pollsters have now is that a growing number of younger and even middle aged professionals don't have wired phones, and pollsters thus far either aren't allowed or simply just don't call cell phone numbers.

Paul Miller, Woodbridge, VA / the polls are about as likely to be unbiased and correct as romney is not to flip flop, most always the pollsters have an agenda and a targeted sample, that being said they most likely are not going to be a good indicator of how people in the nation as a whole are going to vote, they are entertaining though, they are also a powerful tool to sway uniformed voters, people who don't stay up on the issues will take a look at some poll and say well this person has the majority of the people behind them so they must be OK, or see someone that they might like, see they have bad numbers and think there is no need voting because they can't win, it would be better if there were no polls and the issues were all that were seen, but polling is a very lucrative business now, and also a very dishonest one, if you want to spend enough money you can get whatever poll numbers suit you

The Clintons thumb their noses at campaign finance reform. ince 2000, Bill has earned a truly astonishing $41 million speaking in front of lobbying groups, special interests, PACs, and in one case what is probably a front for the Chinese government. This is while Hillary is a Senator who introduces and cosponsors bills that these parties have an interest in – including bills to temporarily suspend the duties on a whole raft of imported products from China and Japan while Bill was earning six-figure fees from industry groups in those countries.

It would be a fairly long article to detail all of Bill Clinton’s questionable earnings while his wife was in Office – it takes a number of speeches to reach $41 million even at more than one hundred thousand dollars a speech. I can certainly understand why he decided to earn as much as he could, but it presents some very troubling ethical dilemmas for his wife.

Bill Clinton earned over $700,000 from the Chinese Company CLSA, a brokerage and private equity group. They own ALOK Industries, Ltd., which “possesses vertically integrated, state-of-the-art production facilities for Home Textiles, Woven and Knitted Apparel Fabrics, Garments and Polyester Yarns.” Hillary Clinton co-sponsored over 25 bills to eliminate tariffs on various imported products. Among these are “knitted or crocheted fabrics of cotton”, “artificial filament single yarn”, “cosmetic bags with a flexible outer surface of PVC”, and “certain woven fabrics of cotton.” A cynical person might wonder if CLSA made a good return on their $700,000 investment.

Bill Clinton earned more than $1.2 million speaking in front of real estate industry lobbying groups and companies – such as the National Association of Realtors and the Mortgage Banker’s Association. At the same time, his wife sponsored a bill that was much desired by the realtors – the “Community choice in Real Estate Act” which prevents banks from competing with realtors or mortgage bankers.

Some of Bill’s speeches boggle the mind and make me wonder if he is trying to sabotage his wife’s ambitions. He earned $300,000 from the “Australian Council for the Promotion of the Peaceful Reunification of China”, which is pretty clearly a front group for the Chinese government. He made $800,000 from “Gold Service International” which is a Columbian “development” group. (One wonders what kinds of products they develop.) He earned $125,000 from Ness Technologies, Inc., which specializes in outsourcing IT jobs.

There are some intresting ironies in Bill’s haul. He earned $100,000 from a company that makes campaign trinkets like Barack Obama’s much-mentioned keychains. He got $125,000 from Compuware Corp., whose CEO Peter Karmanos is currently Romney’s top campaign contributor. Although he got nearly $4 million speaking in front of various Jewish interest groups, he also earned more than $1 million speaking in front Abu Dahbi “conferences” set up in conjunction with his favorite Network Marketing company “The Power Within.” Bill Clinton got paid $200,000 by Info USA, which owns the polling company that is used by CNN.

Bill has earned somewhere around $2 million speaking at close friend Tony Robbin’s “seminars.” The Power Within paid over $200,000 to the Federal Trade Commission to settle claims that they lied to their customers about the potential earnings of their network marketing plan.

It has taken me a week just to categorize all of the 250+ companies that Bill has spoken in front of. Bill earned over $1.5 million from healthcare companies or lobby groups – which are probably eagerly waiting to see if their investment pays off when (if ever) Hillary announces her healthcare plan. The Hotel lobbies that paid Bill are probably eager to see what her stance on immigration will be, and I’m certain that the broadband and telecom companies want to see if another President Clinton can move forward her stalled plans to spend millons on rural broadband access.

We will observe here that prisoners at Folsom [California,Pelosis and Boxers district],Pelican Bay and Corcoran[California,Feinsteins district],Joliet[Illinois,Omamas district],Rikers Island[New York,Clintons district]and Las Vegas Correctional for Women[Nevada,Reids district],are treated with far more brutality[Amnesty International at www.amnesty.org for more on that which include the use of dogs,guard-initiated combat between prisoners,refusal to allow medical treatment,torture,total isolation,rape of female prisoners and/or sexual exploitation,murder], than has ever been evidenced at GITMO which is one of the worlds most humane prisons with the possible exception of those in Scandanavian nations. Certainly,however,in America at the maximum-security level. Those prisoners we have offered to release have been refused entry into their own home nations. Clinton is a Megalomaniac, Obama is interesting, but untested, Juliani has more baggage than Samsonite, Thompson has his own baggage (under his eyes), McCain has too many liabilities to list, Romey has a religion founded by someone looking in the bottom of a hat.....and all of them, conservative, or liberal, are the quintessential “talking heads” pandering for the vote, saying what has to be said to the group that they're speaking to, trying for the perfect sound bite.....and just think, it makes no difference whether they're Republican or Democrat, everyone of them is a lobbyists target.

Personally, I don't care who the candidate is, what their party affiliation, it's all for naught, unless we rid the process of lobbyists that have the ear and the pocket books of these candidates before and after they reach office....If not, we'll continue to get the mushroom treatment (keep'em in the dark and feed them shit).

With the exception of Immigration, where the general public finally said we had enough, the taxpayers are being screwed at every turn with any major issue, Pharmaceuticals health care, petroleum & gas prices, jobs leaving our shores, taxation, gun laws, etc., etc., because the aforementioned candidates are all at the behest of a lobbying group protecting the interests of big business or various industries involved at the expense of the voting tax payer.

At last count there were 80,000 lobbyists in Washington, within 30 minutes of our candidates, elected officials, people we voted into office and then turn over to the lobbyists when they arrive in office.....Unless, this is changed through legislation, it doesn't make a difference whose in the oval office (although anyone would be better than Bush, he's a disgrace), it's going to be business as usual for the lobbyists who revel in the gridlock that keeps their honey hole clients in power....

It's something to ponder while you herald the talents and assets of all of these politicians who have been in Washington long enough to know all of these lobbyists by name....and have said nothing to the contrary about the inequity that their presence brings to the process.

On yesterday's blog someone wrote about Thompson not being qualified and the GOP being desperate-well since when does being the wife of a immoral scoundrel ex-president and you a "take it on the chin" enabling, I support you honey(but really I hate you) and now I need your help-back boneless-manipulated woman qualify! Don't talk to me about how someone WILL do in office when none of us know how we would do. Show me how they have acted and reacted in the past. That's how this two job, 3 children raising, working AMERICAN MOM chooses who she votes for. I love this country and I support MY President and pollers don't know ME and don't speak for me and never will. If candidates want to see how people really feel about what's going on in this country I suggest you disquise yourself and get on the streets of America and see what the AVERAGE EVERYDAY AMERICAN wants to see happen in this country. We are still the backbone of this country and we are a mass of intelligent,knowledgeable people who have tremendous power and the more we are pushed the more likely you are to get a response.
