If its numbers are true, a new CNN/Opinion Research poll of South Carolina voters is a boon to Clinton and a potentially devastating blow to Obama. Will the Clinton campaing stop at nothing to win??? Why do ALL other polls show Obama and Clinton neck and neck in South Carolina, with some polls showing Obama with a comfortable lead??? I guess the saying is true all is fair in love and war. Also, wouldn't the Obama's internal polling show this as well???? I'm growing quite tired of Hillary Clinton by the minute. You automatically assume Clinton is lying and Obama's campaign is telling the the truth. I am an African-American and this poll shows me exactlty what most of the African Americans think of Obama and Hillary. White America seems to think that African-Americans can't form an informed opinion and will blindly vote for Obama. This is simply not true. I tried to explain this last week when I watched Obama get the most cheers when he was introduced at the NAACP forum, but by the end of the forum Hillary was clearly getting the most cheers. I would just say this, if that poll was not true, Obama's camp would be on every news outlet saying that this poll was false. At least that's what I would have done. She clearly won the debate in SC so it's no surprise to me that she has had her poll numbers go up in SC.

A stunning South Carolina poll

amen, lewis. I've fulfilled my civic duty and feel knowledgable enough to know I don't want Hillary to win. If she wins the left will be just like the right has been for the past 8 years. No cooperation. a go at it alone mentality. As much as I know a Clinto presidency would align with my political views, I wouldn't vote for her. Ever. Also, I think this poll is crap. Is the reporting on this poll as suspect as the results seem to be?

I also saw the margin of error here is pretty big - 8 percent. I've never seen a margin of error on any published poll so big. So, yeah, I can see where Gupta tweaked things a little.

But even if he hadn't, I'd also add that Obama being 16 points back isn't so bad, given that its June and his opponent has nearly 100 percent name awareness. Of course, with that margin of error it could be as 24 points back, but then again as close as 8 points.

Anyway, the quick reaction by the Obama campaign suggests they are looking at some pretty different internal numbers.

Timothy, I don't share your confidence when you say Clinton wouldn't dare put out fake results when she's under so much scrutiny. Look at this thing with the DoD letter. In a way, Clinton's campaign might be intentionally flooding the news with sorta questionable actions, hoping that its supporters simply get tired of hearing about them and start tuning those kind of stories out all together. Sometimes I think that's what is behind a lot of the irritating things the Bush administration does. Then when people react, the Bush supporters can counter with "y'all just hate Bush, dontcha?"

A stunning South Carolina poll

Shadow, I should have clarified, that was my opinion and the people I watched it with, of the debate. I haven't seen any polls in SC.

A stunning South Carolina poll

Paul, the 39-25% score included Gore in the mix; 43-27% out. If you look at all of ARG's polls in all the states, they have Obama way behind, more so than other polls. I'm not exactly how they are polling, but obviously, ARG is not a reliable sourse as compared to others.

I don't mean to discredit any poll that doesn't look good for Obama. I know truth when I see it, but in reality, polls really aren't important for many reasons. first, it's entirely too early to worry about them and second I don't trust their methods. For instance, they can only poll people who have land lines. As speaking as a young professional, I can tell you many young people don't have land lines--only cell phones, therefore, we would never be polled. I think that's the very audience Obama is energizes, but it won't be reflected in the polls. Just some food for thought.

A stunning South Carolina poll

That only leaves the question which old Clintonista owns or runs ARG?

A stunning South Carolina poll

Mark D - As a registered Republican who is actually quite upset and disappointed with his party, I would like nothing more then to have Hillary be the Democratic nominee. I don't suspect you because of your name because I have a very "Anglo/English" name myself, but what I do suspect is your claim that the poll reflects the attitude of African Americans you know. In New York. In New York. In New York. This is not the first time , Clinton supporters have posted comments bashing Barack Obama as an African American and them claiming that this is the common attitude of Blacks. It doesn't work. So, if you are faking it, I will just say this: It's not going to work. If you are not faking it, I would just say that you are one delusional brutha if you think, for a second , that Hillary won that SC debate and you are stuck on the Plantation of you think for a second that 24 percent of African Americans will not vote for Barack Obama under ANY circumstances.

A stunning South Carolina poll

ARG is a biassed poll FOR Hilary. Please get rid of that complex. You remind me of Jesus who came and was rejected by his own people the Jews. Pardon my comparison but my advice to you is that if Blacks like you continue to feel you are being descriminated upon by Whites, then maybe Obama is the one to either prove that notion wrong(He has a lot of White backing)or bring racial harmony. I think you should just pay attention his plans than start imagining what Whites think about you. Bill Clinton is a paid advisor to Info USA and has allegedly (in court documents) been paid over $3,000,000 in consulting fees. Part of the $41 million that he made since leaving office was a speech before Info USA -- for $200,000. So this is basically a poll by a company about one of their employees.

The poll is quite shady. They interviewed over 1000 people and selected 380 of the responses. Breaking it out you have:

148 people for Clinton
95 people for Obama
57 for Edwards
38 for Gore
11 for the other candidates

A stunning South Carolina poll

I find this poll VERY hard believe.
