Like, gee whiz, why isn't a President still popular who used his capital to manipulate us into an ill-conceived, ill-managed war, who presided over the destruction of the 34th largest American city, instead of showing leadership as one of the poorest states in the union was overwhelmed, whose administration lost billions of dollars to fraud, weakening our military, who engineered the transfer of wealth to the top 1%, who turned the Justice Department into an instrument to enforce loyalty to the Republican party, rather than upholding the law, who installed Supreme Court Justices who hypocritically "legislate from the bench" when it serves their personal beliefs, but who are "originalists" who decline to protect the rights of women, prisoners of war, lawmakers trying to protect the environment, etc. Gee, Mr. Media Pundits, why do you think America doesn't approve of the Bush Administration. There is absolutely no reason to do so, even if they are trying to appeal to a political base. If you want to lead, be prepared to represent the nation, not a party. Bush's job, and Pres. Bush. Therefore, there is in fact no way to distance oneself from the President whose policies you support 100%. To even remotely consider electing a member of the Republican party in Nov. 2008, would absolutely ensure a quasi 3rd term for George W. Bush. There is no way these men can distance themselves from him, as they are carbon copies of him, and it should be emphasized again and again, to elect any one of them (save Ron Paul) would absolutely guarantee a stay the course with Pres. Bush form of government. Most of us, thankfully, will fully reject that in the next Presidential election. The elections of Nov. 2006 made that perfectly clear.

The Bush White House

Its time for Bush to wake up and resign

The Bush White House

All you liberals need to quit your griping and shut up.It's laughable to blame Bush for Katrina, even though he warned state and local officials of the impending storm...guess what?? And let's blame him for healthcare, even though America has better healthcare than almost everywhere else! Bush is just your scapegoat, and let's face the reason why...you're sore losers. You hate that you lost in 2000 and 2004,and now that you finally won in 2006,your precious liberals in Congress haven't done squat and have a lower approval rating of Pres Bush. That's what I find laughable. And it's hilarious that the people that preach global warming are the people that don't follow their own rules. In a situation such as that, the Bush Administration should have taken full responsibility, and given them all the help they needed, as the leader of the world's only superpower should have, but guess what?

Bush, who'd been on vacation at his Crawford ranch, only a short hop from New Orleans, instead flew west--first to celebrate McCain's 100th birthday in Arizona, then to California to strum some show-biz buddy's guitar. It was several days before the idiot even found the time to flyover and look down on devastated New Orleans and the rest of the storm zone. Remember that picture showing how clueless he looked? At the same time, Cheney was vacationing in Wyoming, and Condi, who could have been arranging for other countries to help with rescues and send other help, was in New York buying shoes and seeing a Broadway play. Remember the stories of about 2-3 months ago about how aid to New Orleans and the rest of the storm zone was either rejected or squandered? What an amazing abdication of responsibility on the part of our so-called "leaders" who should have been on top of the situation.

Then the Bushies set the blame game in motion--blaming Louisiana for all that went wrong during Katrina--so your implication that her Democratic officials didn't do anything is exactly what the Bush Administration would want you to believe and to say. Actually, Louisiana officials did the best they could in the face of an overwhelming disaster. But the Bushies instead, because having to take the blame for their own evasion of accountability regarding Katrina, decided to treat Louisiana not like a valuable American state who needed and deserved the help that would make her whole, but a foreign adversary along the lines of Iran.

And here's some of the truth conservative Bush lovers hate to hear: the Bush Administration needs to be blamed for cultural and other genocide in Louisiana. First of all, per a New York Times article this morning, New Orleans' post-Katrina health care system is in terrible shape. According to Harry Shearer, a blogger on the Huffington Post, this is due to an ideological struggle between the Bushies and Louisiana. The Bushies are trying to force Louisiana to eliminate her current charity hospital system and replace it with private insurance the poor have to buy. So they won't give poor Louisiana the help she needs to bring New Orleans' health care system back--thus furthering the suffering of and perhaps hastening the otherwise preventable deaths of her sick people who find it hard to access medical care--and committing genocide.

Also, by not lifting a finger to help evacuees stranded in Houston and other cities, unable to return to the Louisiana they're homesick for. These evacuees are poor people, mostly people of color--people who'd given pre-Katrina New Orleans her distinctive cultural character. The lack of affordable housing and dependable infrastructure are main factors keeping them from returning. They have a right to return--and the Bush Administration's denying Louisiana the help she needs replenishing New Orleans' affordable housing is keeping them from doing so. Another thing keeping exiled New Orleanians from wanting to return is the levees--which need to be upgraded to Category 5. The Bush Administration refuses to spend the money to do this or rebuild New Orleans' affordable housing or repair her damaged infrastructure--and by keeping New Orleanians from wanting to return, it is committing cultural genocide.

The Bush White House

How about this theory? They support Bush because they assume they'll have 35% support wrapped up, and they think they'll only need to convince another 16% more to win the election. Just because you don't agree with war does not mean that Bush is a criminal. It just means that you would rather have had Saddam attack us, then us go in to prevent us getting attacked. Global warming is a joke; it's a political tool invented by Al Gore to get attention and to give the democrats a stance on something. There are just as many scientists that say global warming does not exist than scientists that say it does. Who's to say that what the temperature of the earth is now is not right where it's supposed to be? Of course there's always change over time, what is crazy is how people like you think we can't drive SUV's,can't leave the water running while we shave(Cameron Diaz), and can't buy tangerines because they're not native to your home state(Elizabeth Edwards.) Look,it's one thing to say you dont agree with wasting energy, but when it comes to people getting so mad that they can't even drive a Hummer for fear of it getting the windows shattered and spray-painted(like what happened in the Northeast 2 weeks ago). But thats ok,Impeach...wishing death on the Republicans is so typical. Not so long ago I remember talk radio going on and on about how angry and irrational the "looney left" is. Now it seems to have completely reversed. The ONLY think I here from Bush supporters on this blog is name calling and labeling people idiots and haters. I thought it was just a few, but I hear it repeated in conservative media too. Nothing but opposition to Democratic policy with no rationale behind it. If that is all the GOP has, then they will continue to loose support. It's the arrogance(encouraged by talk radio) of having a GOP majority for the past several years. Liberals are wrong/evil..they are unelectable, they can't win in the marketplace of ideas, socialists...rant..rant..rant. How quickly they forget that we are all Americans and we prosper and suffer together. Now that Bush has awoken the American public from continually electing reprentatives who consider themselves unaccountable....the only thing that will help the GOP is a dose of humility. Liberals don't have to do anything, Bush and his incompetence is the 'political gift' that keeps on giving. It was there during Iraq, Katrina(you did a good job Brownie), immigration, Harriet Miers, Terry Shiavo, Valerie Plame, Abu Ghraib, Porter Goss, entitlement/government expansion, Social Security.....all self inflicted wounds. And that is not even counting the GOP scandals too numerous to list and still occuring as we type. Unfortunately, it has harmed this country in the process. I'm ashamed to even think I almost voted for the man in 2004. Scream about the left all you want it's not convincing anybody.

The Bush White House

Jerry - "The truth, YOU can't handle the truth" Jack Nickelson. There have always been fueds between parties, the problem is finding a person that will take control in 08 and not run the US in the ground. Let's see...Hillary - what will the world think of America if we are ignorant enough to vote a woman into office?? Probably that we're ignorant...especially since our top adversary (the Middle East) DOES NOT respect women!!!! Obama - if we vote him in the world will only think it was because he's muslim so we hope he will make good friends with the Middle East and hopefully they will all of a sudden like us when they haven't since..FOREVER!!!! Bush in 40 years will be in the history books as a good president. He has had to face overwhelming odds and he's done the best he could. Maybe everyone isn't happy with his performance but maybe that is our problem for only focusing on the negative things instead of trying to find something positive to dwell on. Besides we have never had a perfect president and never will.

Our troops overseas feel they are fighting for a cause. How do I know that?? I'm married to one. If you do not know anyone in the armed forces then STOP talking about how horrible it is that we are in this war. The troops see that these people do not have hope and they feel that by being there they are protecting their country and helping these people experience something they have never had the opportunity to feel. And if you don't like the war, which for the record NO ONE likes war but it is a necessity at times, don't blame the troops!! I am truly sorry for anyone that has lost a loved one overseas and I do pray for them daily. However, when you join the military they know that there is a possibility of losing their lives. It's a part of the deal. We as a nation need to focus on positive things we have going. Besides why doesn't the world especially Russia and the Middle East like us?? They think we are selfish, disrespectful, heathenistic and the list goes on. If you want to spend the day griping about our government, take a moment and try to understand our enemies and then you'll hopefully understand that it doesn't matter what we do, they will NEVER like us. NO matter what the media plays, there will be no PEACE. So we might as well defend ourselves.

The Bush White House

Megan, thank you for your post...I agree with you 100%.

The Bush White House

This blog is now as unruly as our President is misguided. Name calling will get no one anywhere. It may be fun, but it completely avoids the issue for this blog.

To attempt in getting us back to the point, the Bush White House has been the worst we've had since Hoover or good ol' Cal. Nixon was a crook who not only broke the law but covered it up until someone ratted on his sorry self.

Now, Bush II is polling as bad as Nixon just prior to his resignation. Who's to blame for that? Not us Dems. We told the rest of you he was no good. Now, with the country in a tizzy and the war in Iraq being his legacy (and it won't be a good one), we have unrest. The neocons just can't seem to realize what is going on. The White House has become a safe haven for the liars, the cheats, the insane and the executive who may still be dillusional at best. No one in the GOP wants to admit the light at the end of the tunnel is that of the train coming towards us.

The more delays in producing the "Sept" report on the "Surge" in Iraq (is it out to Dec-2007 now, or is it Dec-2008?), the more stonewalling with Congress and claiming Executive Privelege for issues that should be a no-brainer if there was truly no illegality, the more inaccurate statements of the seriousnees and direct connection to bin Laden with al Qaida in Iraq, the more people begin to wonder why we never went after bin Laden in Pakistan instead of invading Iraq, and the more people realize the wealthy are richer today than 7 years ago while the rest of us are scraping by with devalued home prices and poor raises every year even though our companies seem to be extremely profitable... the more ammo any Dem will have against any Repub in 2008. At this rate, the Repubs are probably ready to admit defeat since they have to claim they're Republicans and so many people are fed up to their eye balls with the Bush clan's hypocrisy, lies, false hopes and defense of (argaubly) the worst President in the last 100 years, if not in US history.

(BTW, I never mentioned the "oil summit" with Cheney and Kenny-boy, the ties to just about every one of the indicted and jailed CEOs in the last 6 years, the incredibly disrespectful comments and actions made with regards to the Katrina disaster and the lack of concern for the military vets with their health care benefits, and just about everything else that's gone wrong in the past 7 years on a national level, although that may be a tad too harsh.)

The Bush White House

Megan: That is right on time. It made sense, after we were attacked on 9/11, to invade Afghanistan and unseat the Taliban, the government who had given a safe haven to Bin Laden and al-Qaida. If we had made a paradise of Afghanistan it really would have bolstered moderate, democratic movements across the Middle East, but no. Bush decided to invade Iraq without understanding the ethnic divisions in that country. His administration froze out any dissenting voices, wouldn't listen to generals who told them they need more troops to accomplish regime change, and ignored the objections of our allies, etc. Now Iraq is in the middle of a civil war, according to recent intelligence reports al-Qaida has rebounded in its safe haven in Pakistan, and its very possible the American homeland will soon suffer a terrorist attack. It really doesn't matter if we elect a woman or a non-white male, what matters is if we elect a President who can withdraw our troops from Iraq in an orderly fashion, secure Afghanistan, and lend enough support to Pakistan to help them destroy al-Qaida there without inflaming muslim fundamentals all over the world.

The Bush White House

killing innocence for oil is a necessity?

The Bush White House

laura Im with you bush isnt to blame for anything .Everything he has done he has done in your name which ergo you are to blame stand and take responsability for your actions be proud of the way this country handle katrina be happy with the war you are losing be happy with a justyice dept that ignores laws be happy the great divider has you where he wants going over the cliff with the rest of the lemmings ask rick santorum used to work for me fired Im sure he happy with his lobbist job maybe he can helpm you out being happy HECK OFF A JOB BROWNIE RUMSFIELD POWELL SNOW GOODLING GONZO SCOOTER ARMITIGE WOLFOWITZ PEARL BE HAPPY AND FOLLoW

The Bush White House

Discussion of Bush surely brings out the worst in people. I'm just waiting for the next election. There is nothing more that Bush can say that will move me.

The Bush White House

Megan,
Why don't you take your sorry ass viewpoint and smoke some more weed.

WE SHOULD INVADE A COUNTRY AND CALL IT A NECESSARY WAR. As an american you accept that your fellow citizens have made that judgement or leave. My sister serves in the Navy, my childhood friends serve in the army, we all know a family or two who has a child that serves. Nobody is eager for war. Everyone I know wants it to be over soon...even if the conclusion will not be 'ideal'. That is reality.

Bush made the mistake of equating his political views and ideals with that of the middle east. The Iraqis still refuse to form a political solution because the are not capable of doing it. They have lived under a dictator, their culture breeds conflict, it would take decades of direction from the US to even get them started. The American public is not willing to deal with a conflict that could last decades. That was the administration's mistake. Not withstanding the botched intelligence and globalist ideology that drove this war.

What I just described is nation building...not fighting terrorists. Al-Queda is in Iraq b/c we are there...they are in Afghanastan too. The best we can hope is Iraqi's are willing to kill the remaining terrorists after we leave. Most likely using their militias whom we are now beginning to support. Creating a power vaccum that leads to sectarian violence is the result of bad judgement..and this globalist administration has tried to 'correct' it ever since but it is beyond their control. That is why the are continually deploying more and more troops to Iraq after over 4 years of occupation. We are trying to provide our soldiers as police even as their own army continue to fail 4 yrs later. In 3 more years with nothing changed are you still willing to say the same thing?

And as far as soldiers..they are not congress, they are not elected officials. The decision is not theirs to make. They take orders, trained to do their job....and we as civilians are responsible for their well being. Bush's responsibility is placing them in an optimum situation to succeed b/c he made the decision for war. Bush fails in that regard by putting the military in an unattenable situation that has no foreseable solution...loosing lives, when the outcome will be withdrawl no matter what how long it is delayed. He is fails to protect US citizens of our armed forces. The Republicans should have never spoken the lines about winning for our soldiers or made political speeches in front of military audiences. It was wrong, and still is wrong. As they did so..they send another soldier off to war in an untenable conflict when the outcome is obvious.

You're right about one thing...responsible leadership leads to responsible decisions. People like you make this blog possible.
I do want to clear up one thing, I do not care that Obama is African American. I do not feel he is the best person to be president but that has nothing to do with his skin color at all. I am conservative but I am not a racist. Also, I wasn't trying to sway anyone's oppinion with my post I was simply giving an oppinion as many others have on here.

I do think that is it important for Americans to understand our adversaries. Doing some research and digging a little into history might shed some light on the conflicts of today. These conflicts have carried over from centuries before. And Ken your opinion of Christians killing Muslims, etc. well, that is how the world views America. Not as Christians per-say but as the conquering type. If you (everyone reading this not picking on Ken) really understood how others saw us, then you might quite arguing so much amongst each other.

Also, Iraq is crucial. I want every one of our soldiers home asap but it is crucial how we leave it. Some say it doesn't matter because we've already screwed up too bad but we should still try out best to leave in a way that will not send them running for aid from Iran. That's the nation that REALLY hates us and happens to be friendly with Putin and is also actively ignoring the warning of the world and going further with the manufacturing of nuclear weapons. I do hope our next MR. President is not the type to go brown nosing the world. Bush did show strength. He also showed error but he did show the world that a terrorist attack would not be tolerated by the USA. It's is important that our next guy at least have that trait. The sissy type would not say much for us as American citizens. Dem or Rep, just don't be a sissy!! Now, I am done with this stuff!! All left wingers jump for joy now!!

And just for HOT DAM, I'm not into smoking weed hun! Just not my thing.
