How many government programs are doing 'well' right now? Checked out how many trillions in current dollars social security and medicare are underfuned? One of the few things our government SHOULD be doing, maintaining an army, it is doing poorly. Just check how many experts have called the army 'broken', or the Walter Reed scandal. And considering the Walter Reed scandal, I cannot believe some people want the gov't to run healthcare, when it cannot even run successfully the healthcare for its army. There are certain functions of gov't we do need...do not think that when Ron Paul says he wants to get rid of the Dept of Education he wants to get rid of public education, he just wants it taken care of at the local level. The fed gov't just adds more bureacracy and waste.

I'm voting for Ron Paul because he is the only candidate who even talks about the national debt. The true test of whether or not the other guys give a damn about this country is if they would be willing to address our massive debt. We borrow $3 billion every day from China... hello? I know it's not just Ron Paul and I who believe this is madness. Our national debt is currently equal to our entire gross national product... times three! It would take everyone paying $175,000 to eliminate the debt. The current "conservatives" in power promise low taxes, but deficit spending now means MORE TAXES LATER!

Ron Paul doesn't want to "privatize" anything. He wants the federal government to be limited to the Constitution. He may be a libertarian philosophically, but if the States want to have social programs and socialism, that's fine. But under our Constitution, the Federal government has no authority to do much of what it is doing. Not only is it illegal, it is also counter-productive (no child left behind) and costly (70 trillion in total obligations). We need Ron Paul before we go broke.

Not exactly. He has stated he'd like to get rid of about 80% of the federal government, but likely most of that would be shifted to local/state government.

Thompson doesn't have a chance in this poll. Does he really believe himself?
