As I stated before, Fred T. ain't the second coming of Ronald Reagan. Reagan inspired hope in people that tomorrow would be better. Fred couldn't inspire a pack of hungry dogs to a piece of meat.

The new republican norm is having one spouse, one future spouse in waiting and one on the side just in case. These Guys should never be consider conserative.

Fred Thompson is not Ron Reagan, but I still get more inspiration from him or Rudy G. than I do from the whole of the democaratic party. Their entire elitist platform of tearing down the traditional American identity, socialist ideology of non-responsiblity for yourself, and big government to fix everything is a puppet show. Hillery is a bitter empty shell. Obama is now a newbie who owes million in favors and counting. And Edwards is just slimy. If the Dems brought out Biden or Dodd I would give them some credit, but my God there is no reason to place either Hillery of Obama on the highest seat in our nation. We definately don't need another 4 years of Clinton economics to drive us into another recession. Which is where Bill left us. I won't bother to mention WhiteWater...
Rudy's politics don't match the Rebublican party to a tee either, but at least we know he is a leader.
Fred Thompson may be the candidate that matches the majority of American values the best. Pro-Family, Pro-State rights, Pro-Gun rights.
I would like to hear more about Ron Paul, but he appearently is under a media blackout. Maybe he worries them.
As a last note, the Presidential elections have become so vile that I propose we change the election cycle to:
House - 4 years
Senate - 6 years
President - 8 years
Let's cut down the Bull....!

Gosh, RH, everyone I know prospered while Clinton was in office. I'm making more money now, but have much less to spend than in the 90's. So if we could duplicate that economic success, I would be happy, no matter who the president happens to be.

I haven't decided who would make the best presidential candidate, but Ron Paul fits your description of "American values" much better than Rudy ever could. Let's just hope we all make a good decision on election day.

According to a Capital News story I saw on friday, Newt thinks the current GOP candidates lack a "mission". He also said if Thompson was running he probably would not. Also McConnell says he doubts if the GOP can take over the Senate in'08.

I know the dems are scared of Fred Thompson from their mean-spirited attacks. Fred left the Congress due to the corruption of both democrats and republicans.

I'm so sick of the politics in this nation. Politicians from both parties just tell the voters what they want to hear with no intention of following through.

Fred Thompson might be the fresh air we need. The country is still split right down the middle liberal verses conservative but the liberals act as though they have the mandate. Get real! Interest rates are increasing quickly and wait until the new minimum wage hits the economy. The democrats energy policy is to grow more corn and to exchange cars for horses.Meanwhile they fly around in private jets and burn more energy in their pricey homes. The Rebplicans do the same but they don't go around making movies about man's distruction of the earth. Gore has to be the biggest hypicrite on the earth. The democrates could not lead themselves out of a wet paper bag. Remember the first hundred days promise. Now all they do is issue supoenas that will have no results.

Go Fred Thompson and if the Republicans in Congress had any sense they would go back to the conservative values that made the Reagan years so great!

It should be crystal clear at this point in time who the ONLY true conservative in this race, and man of integrity, someone who is honest, has never flip-flopped, and has a consistent voting record to prove it. Someone who isn't afraid to go to Iowa, speak before RTL, or answer question on YouTube (Romney, I thought we could ask you anything?) As the Iowa Christian Alliance should now be painfully aware, the man they attempted to exclude from their forum got twice as good a reception (1,200 people) than the other candidates combined. The truth shall set you free, my friends.

RON PAUL, third place in fundraising, second if you consider Romney took $9M from his own funds.

Ron Paul is a true conservatives. The others claim they support conservative values while eliciting the services of the "DC Madam". Dr. Paul on the other hand has 5 kids (with one 1 wife), 17 grandchildren, and I believe a grandchild. He never takes corporate money for his campaign and has spent decades advancing the ideas of government non-intervention in people's personal lives, and the power of freedom and the free market.

Ron Paul's presidential campaign website has short hand renditions of his positions on the issues. Ron Paul's congressional website has many of his speeches in the House of Representatives verbatim.

Here's a summary:

1. He believes the US should have strong defense of America but get of Iraq, stop policing the world, and stop trying to force our values on other nations (I think of this as a Star Trek Prime Directive foreign policy). To assist strong defense, he believes in enforcing our immigration laws;

2. He believes in SMALL government, much smaller than any other candidate. He is called "Dr. No" by other members of Congress because he consistently votes "No" on all new programs, special-interest spending, and taxes. The Taxpayer's Union rates him higher than any other member of Congress.

3. I think he is the only Republican to vote against the Patriot Act. He opposes government domestic spying, holding prisoners for years without trial, and other Bush Administration violations the Constitution; and

4. He is personally pro-life, but he believes that social issues, such abortion, gay marriage, etc. are not the business of the Federal government. Instead, the 10th Amendment reserves such things to the States.

I agree with him on many, but not all, of these issues, but I am strongly supporting him anyway. He is what Diogenes sought in vain: an honest man.

Actually we wouldn't because in WWII the congress voted to declare the war and transitioned the US into a war time economy with the intention of winning the war as quickly as possible. This isn't something Ron Paul would actually object to, or at least it would be something he would be able to veto (since the vote back then was almost unanimous after Pearl Harbor was bombed).

Congress hasn't bothered to declare a war since then and that is one of Ron Paul's major protests against our current foreign policy.

He proposed an actual declaration of war against Iraq and the congress wouldn't do it. Why do you think that is?

It is these sort of statements that really lower the level of the debate and exhibit intentional ignorance on the part of the poster. Disagree with Dr. Paul on one or more issues? Fine, I know I do too, but please stick to the substance of those issues.

I will be supporting Dr. Paul because for the first time since Reagan, I see someone I know who will do the right thing no matter how easy it would be to do something less.

Process of elimination also is on the side of Dr. Paul. Liberal-in-drag Rudy? Flip floppy Romney? Over-compromiser "friend of Ted K" McCain? How about one of the evolution deniers like Brownback or Hucksterbee? (Seriously, do they even understand the scientific method? I got that in eight grade.) What about those VIOLENTLY (literally) opposed to illegal immigration like Tancredo and Hunter? Everyone of these have their faults.

Congress declared war against Germany the day after they declared war on us. This is the exact Constitutional process Dr. Paul articulates in his message. He sumitted a bill to congress for them to do their Constitutional duty and declare war on Iraq. Instead, just like they did in Korea and Viet Nam they passed a "resolution" transferring their Constitutional responsibility (against their oath of office) to the President and the UN. Wake up man, and quit spouting slander. Read the Constitution and open up your little brain to whats going on around you.
