McCain left the "Straight Talk Express" long ago, abandoning it and what appeared to be his few distinguishing principles when he started drinking deeply from the party Kool-Aid bowl.

Take his position on Iraq, for example. After Al Gore slammed Bush's policy on Iraq in 2003, "Straight Talk" McCain when on the talk circuit saying that "Success [in Iraq] will be 'fairly easy'". Then on January 4, 2007, he said on MSNBC about the Iraq war, "I knew it was probably going to be long and hard and tough, and uh, those that voted for it and somehow thought that it was going to be an ... some kind of an easy task, then I'm sorry they were mistaken. Maybe they didn't know what they were voting for."

Obviously one of the statements was a lie.

Or consider his two conflicting statements about the Confederate flag, made three days apart in South Carolina. On January 9, 2000, he states, "The confederate flag is offensive in many, many ways, as we all know. It's a symbol of racism and slavery." Then just three days later he states, "Personally, I see the [confederate] flag as a symbol of heritage."

That has to be a record, publically flip-flopping on an issue in three days.

Or how about McCain giving a speech denouncing pandering to party extremists in 2000, including specifically Jerry Falwell, and then subsequently begins pandering to the religious right, even giving the commencement address at Falwell's Liberty University in 2006.

I, for one, am fed up with the liars, crooks, thiefs, panderers, and incompetent fools of both parties, both on Capitol Hill and in the White House. McCain might as well hang it up as he doesn't have a prayer in this race.
