Just over the past few days, it appears that Iraq is becoming more and more democratic. Several, if not most of the ministries are corrupt and/or headed by militants and are stealing money provided by the U.S. for the Iraqi army , to recruit insergents. Get it? Al Qaeda is stealing billions of our money to fight us with. Did I say democratic? I meant plutocratic, like America. It seems that no one has ever actually tried democracy. This money is running in the billions, and does not include nearly a billion that was given to appointed Iraqis for buying uniforms and equipment for the Iraqi army in '03, who instead of buying proper arms, uniforms and other equipment as intended, spent maybe a tenth of it to get this equipment from Russia and various banana republics at their surplus outlets across the globe. Junk in other words. And made off to Europe and Arab states with the rest of the money. That's really what democracy as we know it is all about. Both these above groups are untouchable, like Osama. Each ministry has what we call "executive privilege", so that neither the Minister nor any of his minions can be touched. Whether any of them are as crooked as the Bush administration remains unexplored. Also unexplored is whether they learned this kind of big time thievery from Halliburton or thought of it on their own. The good news is that the American taxpayer will foot the bill in case anyone was worried that the fools who made it inevitable would be held accountable. At this rate, the Iraqis will be as shot through with crookedness and incompetence as America in five to ten years. Democracy in action. Rome wasn't built in a day. Jackson, no one is showing disrespect to THE OFFICE. What we object to is the ACTIONS of the executive branch. The 3 branches are supposed to be equals in power, but with each branch having separate duties and functions. When the POTUS actively ignores (over 700 signing statements)legislation passed by congress, this shows contempt for the laws and the lawmakers, and by extension, WE THE PEOPLE whom the legislators represent.

When the executive branch uses the department of justice as a tool to hurt those who don't agree with them, this shows utter contempt for the laws.

When the executive branch believes, and acts in a manner consistent with a MONARCHY, not a democratic republic, this causes the electorate to lose confidence in the system that has worked for over 200 years.

When the executive branch resists every attempt at LEGAL OVERSIGHT, by seeking to abolish the very agencies in charge of providing oversight, this prompts the response "what are they hiding?"

When the office of POTUS claims it is exempt from the very same rules and guidelines which have governed past holders of the office, it makes us all wonder--what have you done, Mr. President, to elevate yourself to the status of KING?

Why aren't we asking the question "Why does our president have so little regard for, and so much contempt for, the laws of our land and the citizens whom the laws affect?"

Oh all right Jackson,

I was raised Republican. My dear mother and father don't recognize that the GOP abandoned the values I was raised with in the 60's and 70's. I did recognize and began voting for certain democrats, (We have no required party affiliation in this state). Everything was OK w/the folks until GWB came to power.

I haven't seen much of them the past seven years. We've had some heated arguments. Most everybody else in the family has come around, some divorces were lived through, mouth breathers aren't as attentive as us sensitive liberals. (remember I used to be GOP so I can throw insults w/the best of them).

I suppose that the hurt isn't that bad. Personally, I wish my daughter had got to grow up with some knowledge of her grandparents, but she didn't like the way they always tried to change her views and she really kind of avoids them.

It's sad. It's funny. As an 11 year old 2001 she had painted on her bedroom window: "DON'T ATTACK IRAQ" and "HELP STOMP OUT MAD COWBOY DISEASE" and wouldn't let us wash it off. Apparantly she has the same foresight as me.

1. His disastrous foreign policy has resulted in the unnecessary death of my young cousin in a helicopter shoot down in Iraq.

2. His war of choice resulted in the wounding of my Son-in-law in an IED explosion in Fallujah.

3. His invasion and occupation of a nation that was no threat to us caused us to drop the ball in Afghanistan , miss the opportunity to catch the REAL enemy, and miss the chance to be in a better position to monitor a Nuclear power that is one bullet away from becoming an Islamic Republic.

4. His reckless, directionless aggression has resulted in a situation where we create more terrorists than we kill.

5. He gives aid and comfort to our enemies by verifying their propaganda about our motives.

6. His ineptitude and incompetence shame us before the world every time he opens his idiot mouth. Did they care about us before? Doesn't matter. They care about us less NOW. They respect us less NOW.

In short he has made the world a more dangerous place for myself and my family and as left a legacy of troubles to my children and grand children that will affect me and my family personally for years to come.

It does matter who is President of the United States. And in picking this loser we have in fact made a huge mistake. Dumb, dull, stupid people have no business in positions of leadership. It is not us that disrespect the Office of The President of the United States, it is the current pretender that soils it and therefore earns our intense and virulent dislike.
One can only have contempt for that which is contemptible.
