Sorry, MK, I don't think the Right will 'win' either way. None of the candidates that are leading are 'true' conservatives so the Far Right isn't truly represented in this contest. Freddy is a tad late now and I don't see him moving to the front - hell, he hasn't even declared yet! LOL! - Mitt is a flip-flopper extraordinaire which doesn't sit well with the 'base' and Giuliani is socially liberal which alienates the evangelical vote. McCain is basically a goner, Brownback and Tancredo are bringing up the rear, Paul is way too far 'out there', and Thompson has quit. Not too sure about the 'Huck', though...

All in all... the best that the Far Right can get is Fred Thompson and I just don't see him getting it. It'll be either Romney or Giuliani - and Hillary will be a strong challenger to either of them.

My point is Carrie, the story makes it seem that Hillary will try and win, even at the cost of losing people in the democratic races elsewhere. She does not have a whole lot of support down here in south Texas. Our democrat house guy here is sure keeping quiet about supporting ANY democratic nominee right now, there is a very good reason for it. Obama and Edwards seem to outpace her in south Texas right now. maybe that will change when she comes down here. Until then, Texas is not on the democratic radar right now, considering it is a GOP state right now.

I'm certainly no expert on feminism but that seems more than a little insulting. What do the other women here think?

Of course there's always a chance I'm missing something. I'm also no expert on African Americans, so I didn't pick up on how big a mistake Clinton may have made when she said a marriage amendment would be the first time discrimination had ever been written into the U.S. Constitution. She seemingly forgot for a moment the 3/5 equation. I've heard from some others that this gaffe could well have legs.

As a Republican I can only interpret most of these posts as good reason to be afraid of her. You all seem to be threatening me with her.

Susan, J. Merle is an uninformed idiot who tries to sound like an informed idiot but comes off as just a plain idiot. You were made for each other.

On the other hand, I will be rooting (not voting) for Hillary to get the nomination. Then when she picks a running mate that's not from the current cast of Dem wannabes there will be one more thing to alienate 10-15% of Democrat voters.

Our chances are slim this time around, but Hillary's our best chance. Since all elections are now based on style, not substance, Hillary is screwed. I can't wait for speech after speech from the most personality-deficient candidate in either field. And when the eyes go wide, it's a political cartoonist's dream.

Her handlers will be spending the same amount of time as Gore's did in 2000 trying to give him a personality with far less desirable results.
