It seems that most people that Bush says are doing a great or "Heck of a job," tend to do badly in the eyes of many Americans. With the wire tapping issues make me think of Ben Franklin who thought that people who give up a little bit of liberty for a little bit of security will get and deserve neither.

I don't understand why it would be so hard to make sure that he told everything to Congress. This is how Congress (a co-equal branch of government) works -- they ask questions that the ordinary American citizen can't. If Gonzales would have functioned based on law and everyone is equal under it rather than an ideologue working for a boss, then he would have been much better off and told Bush that he was wrong (among other people). The more ominous element in of all this is the spate of cancellations and excuses for non-appearance by Laura Bush. W is rumored to be drinking heavily and their marriage on the rocks. They have tried counseling, but W quit (surprise?).
She has tried to get him to see professionals for his own problems, but so far, apparently, he has restricted his "counseling" sessions to cheerleading friends of the power of positive thinking school and two-bit preachers.
Cheney is also supposedly angry with W for falling off the wagon, but has his own heart issues which are more serious than reported.
The White house is in chaotic disarray and and someone who should know said over the weekend that it gets more like a bunker under siege every day.
W does not return his family's phone calls and Billy Graham is not returning his.
All of this spells big trouble in the coming days, especially since the Democrats are clueless as to how to govern, given the chance.
One of his closest aides calls W "the most straight up guy in the White House, if you know what I mean." Does he mean what a bartender means? This is as it seems.
At any rate, world leaders are on edge and the Republican party is in triage mode.

That's all the dirt fit to print here, but we may be surprised how much of this turns out to be factual... these leaks are coming from inside sources who are trying to warn the nation, but impeded by a timid and gutless press.

Once again you prove that at best you are extrememly deluded. Did you even watch Gonzo testify? He purjured himself on national TV and last time I looked that was a felony. Also, last time I looked the Clintons are not in charge of the democratic party. And firing a few travel agents from the previous administration is a bit different from firing some good AG's to replace them with others that will pursue false voter fraud cases (or commit voter fraud aka Tim "caging list" Griffin).

1. Iraq did not attack the US on 911. Most of the hijackers are Saudi's.

2. The "terrorists" as they are called in Iraq are Iraqi and they want their country back from the true terrorists (US), who attacked their country without provocation. There is also a civil war that was aset loose because is was a country that was so divided that it took a leader like Sadaam to hold it together. BTW: We knew that there were no WMD's. We sold them to them in the first place an knew what was destroyed after the first gulf war. It is also not an accident that we rushed our attack to take place before the UN's inspections were complete (HINT: they were not finding anything).

3. The NSA is likely doing a lot more spying on business transaction and political conversations than terrorists. We were spying on the UN and the inspectors during the run up to the war. That is also how we knew that they did not find WMD...

I was confused as she had made her own trip to the African continent this summer. I also found it odd that she went to Minneapolis a day earlier than the President and that she celebrated her mother's birthday in Texas a couple of weeks ago while the President stayed at Camp David.And then there is the drinking thing, you know, the chef on Air force One says he needs his scotch.
I've seen these rumor break-ups in the tabloid press for about two years. Are they on to something? I have no clue.If it is false, then I don't need to read it. If it is true, I have a right to know.

What is sad is the unconscionable and self-serving irresponsible focus of our government. George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Condi Rice, A. Gonzales and many others are apparently dedicated performers for the very rich and powerful as they literally appear to be bought and controlled by those they benefit and who then return benefit. Do I have the incriminating tell-tale photograph of the envelope changing hands? Of course not but the obvious and compelling evidence in the results seen is really there for any objective viewer to see and reason from. In every position they take there is the heavily inequitable, often subtle, sometimes bold but always there, significant benefit for their sponsors and all too frequently accompanied by a great cost to the American people. This isn’t conjecture; it is fact that can’t be denied unless blinded by a bias which allows one to be manipulated.
As for the return benefit provided, it is also obvious and not limited to just political contribution and support. We have seen it demonstrated in well financed, well organized groups that suddenly pop-up whenever the Bush administration needs help that is not to be with an apparent connection: against John McCain (2000); against John Kerry (2004); against AARP (2006); against Cindy Sheehan (2006); and now Ari Fleischer against anti-war sentiment, as but a few examples. Then there is the pressure exerted against people and in the manipulation of the media recognized in the way criticisms are always dropped without answers/resolutions and we are then just told the over used statement, ‘it is time to move on’. It is also apparent in the attitude of the administration created by the confidence gained in this backing which goes beyond assured and unconcerned, beyond bold and belligerent to ‘in your face’ cockiness and arrogance. And finally, I don’t doubt there is a deferred compensation plan for after office to provide payment for services rendered – opportunities for positions, giving lectures, doing consulting, getting insider information and the like.
Who could these sponsors be? I suspect you could start with a ‘think tank’ like the Carlyle Group and then just consider all of those who are obviously greatly benefiting – like Halliburton, the oil companies, the defense contractors, the drug companies, some connected consulting firms and so on. They all have the ability and the experience in working with government (as does people like Dick Cheney in reverse) to know the way. It is an interesting puzzle and the pieces fit together well.
Now the next question is, are all of these people just going to go away ‘into the night with the upcoming dawn’ of a new election? That really isn’t very likely and I am sure they are all doing everything within their substantial power to insure the continuation of their favorable circumstances. I’m sure everything is in place to promote, support, protect and back their next ‘puppet’, at whatever the cost – and anyone in the way better watch out (remember McCain, Kerry, AARP, Cindy Sheehan,,).
Who will the next ‘puppet’ be? Fred Thompson already knows well how to follow a script; Rudy Giuliani also is very capable of subordinating himself; and all of the Republican candidates have shown strong support for the Bush administration. Could it even be a Democrat? I wouldn’t doubt that these very influential people have plans to cover all eventualities and Hillary Clinton has even shown past susceptibility but I doubt their current ties to the Democrats are that strong; likely there are some hurt feelings from the last six years.
The real point in all of this is that America, the average American, can’t take more of the same. This country can ill afford the continued neglect of the decaying infrastructure, the loss of jobs and taxes exported to other countries, the focus on policies for profits for ‘big money’ creating a run away deficit, the loss in real spending power for the middle-class, the costs in lives and tax payer dollars from the falsely justified and continually rationalized Iraq War, and on and on all of it constituting a private agenda being pursued for the benefit of Special Interests and a select few while the average American is given little more than apathy, subterfuge and the costs.
These are my thoughts and I don’t presume to tell anyone what to think. Rather I present this to stimulate and with the encouragement just to really think, to put all biases aside and to avoid being manipulated long enough to objectively see the facts and then to simply make your own conscientious decisions. Today there is a consistent, concerted effort to hide the truth and disguise the lies which creates the real need for the people to diligently look behind the rhetoric. Then maybe America won’t have to put up with ‘more of the same’.

No one's "marital trouble" should not be anyone's business but their own, except when it involves national security. Believe me, the national security folks are paying big attention to this and it has direct consequences in the governance of our nation.

One fact that is generally known (no secret) is that Laura Bush had threatened to leave W if he could not stop drinking. More importantly, she refused to support any of his future campaigns for public office after his disastrous initial attempt, unless he went to AA or stopped on his own.
His drinking is reportedly now so serious that she is spending many nights away from the White House in a "secluded location." That iceberg is the tip of a national security nightmare.

Does this concern the top leadership in this country? By all means. Do they want you to know? No.

In my posting of August 27, 5:27 pm, in my hurry I committed a solecism in the first sentence by using two negatives.
Much too negative of course, (my bad) but I must, nevertheless, proceed in the hope that the point may not be lost in a flurry of grammatical critique:

Indeed one's marital relationship should remain private unless the relationship involves abuse and/or putting others at risk.

Carrie is on record as being averse to such reportage, no doubt due to refined sensitivities and respect for personal privacy.

Nonetheless, that very refinement, that reticence to deal with harsh realities, is what the news media sells cheap to the hoi polloi.

Desmond makes a strong point in this regard when he admonishes us to be a tad more responsible than we may have been in the past in exercising our rights as citizens. Indeed, the polloi, at least those with an appetite for fantasy (see FOX NEWS) have more or less "elected" this outlaw regime twice.

Perhaps we can suspend, at least in degree, our earnest "political correction" in times of national emergency. Perhaps we may find that we are wallowing in our own deluded righteousness to the detriment of the nation and to the life-supporting future of the very planet.

Then again, maybe we just can't help ourselves. If that be the case, then, rock on!
