Bush will appoint someone very competent. The Democrat Senate will block the appointment just because their constituents will knee-jerk their loyal opposition into high gear and then confirm someone very incompetent. We all know that a truly competent AG will go after BOTH parties, right?

The other alternative is to appoint someone incompetent he doesn't want, the Senate will reject it and then confirm the 2nd and real choice.

Remember, Rove is still lurking around.

Richard, Washinton State: Actually the DOJ should be going after people who have enough evidence surrounding them to justify an investigation. Not "BOTH parties" as you stated. The vast majority of the indictments DOJ has brought in corruption cases have been against Republicans and that is with an obviously partisan AG. Just because the Democrats don't get indicted for crimes doesn't show favoritism. It indicates that the Democrats aren't corrupt.
