Ok - someone explain to me what Mr. Snow means when he says that money is the reason he is resigning.

I know he can make far more in the commercial world, but is he, like, in debt or something? Does serving in the government now mean that you are volunteering rather than accepting a paid position? I mean, I know about his health issues but he has insurance coverage now and there is only a year or so left in the term.

I also like the way he said "bitter end". The end of this administration will be very sweet to me! (smile)

Do you possibly think some people (like Mr. Snow) really do sacrifice and give freely of themselves for love of our great country? I sincerely wish that this wonderful country could be divided giving half to Democrats and half to Republicans and then we could see how each of their policies would result. Fighting cancer is an all consuming, daily struggle that wrecks havoc on your emotions, body and finances. I don't presume to know what life must be like for him as so many seem to be able to do. I do know that I admire those who may not like him for political reasons but had the ability to display a beautiful human trait in their compassion for a fellow human being. When Bill Clinton went through open-heart I prayed for him even though I did not like his political agenda. Voicing our disagreement with someone is a freedom we still have in this country. Why do we have to resort to such hatred though?

I have noticed that many of the people that have written hateful comments about Tony Snow are very poor spellers. They are demonstrating multiple facets of their ignorance.
Tony's prognosis can't be too good with 5 tumors. He probably figures that he has a very short time to make money. He has 3 small children, so it makes sense that he would want to sock away a bundle now to finance their college and future comfort. How he spends or saves his money is none of our business. My guess is that he would be saving most of his salary. I wouldn't be surprised if he had high medical bills, even with insurance.
I think that Tony Snow is a very sweet and gentle person, and I wish him happiness and health.

Tony, my son has had ulcerative colitis since he was 13 years old. The colitis caused the bile ducts in his liver the slowly close [PSC] and he had a liver transplant at Mayo Clinic in 1986, when he had 1 1/2 years left of dental school at Loma Linda University. He was Mayo's 36th transplant. It has been 35 years since the colitis hit and as I type this he is in Mayo Clinic having his colon removed because he is high risk colon cancer. I have also had cancer--went to Stanford for treatment and I am fine. We totally understand the road you are going down and will remember you and your family in prayer.
