He and his first wife Sarah split up during the early days of his political career. Newsweek did a piece on him last week, which I recommend. And Huckabee can't gain any ground because of one word: Electability. The Christian (cough) right is currently dysfunctional as a political machine and discouraged by broken promises. Huckabee might look good on paper, and he's not a bad debater, but the right's too freaked by Hillary to be able to coherently select a candidate who reflects their views.
