Ron Paul is right on the Iraq war, but he is no Democrat. He is more conservative across the board than any of the Republican front-runners.

Ron Paul has done fine in fundraising, but hold off on any judgment until the third quarter numbers come out. He did fine in the Iowa straw poll, too, turning 2% poll numbers to a 9% showing in one week of campaigning.

Ron Paul has won or placed highly in numerous other less-noticed straw polls around the country. He has won polls in New Hampshire, Alabama, and Maryland with hundreds of grassroots Republican activists.

Ron Paul has also been drawing large crowds wherever he speaks, and has over 40,000 volunteers signed up in local Meetup groups nationwide. As his national name recognition rises, his poll numbers will too.

Ron Paul has the most upside of any candidate in the race.

I'm disappointed by this piece as it offers relatively little insight into Ron Paul, his positions, and most importantly, the contents of his speech. I noticed that ABC news has an excellent piece on this event that actually provides quotes from Dr. Paul instead of these paraphrases, which I find, cloud the issues.

I would hope that an expanded piece be presented, given that this one does so little to expound upon the talk which I argue is a noteworthy appearance regarding the election and foreign policy.

He has done well in fundraising considering he doesn't take corporate, special interest, or 'bundler' money, only personal individual contributions.

He also left the room to a standing ovation.

You mention the Iowa straw poll, 4th place wasn't bad for a week's worth of campaigning, and Paul and Huckabee were the only candidates to get more votes than the # of tickets they purchased. Huckabee had the Fair Tax Organization to help him. Dr Paul just had us.

Paul's fundraising has surpassed expectations, and ignoring other straw poll victories or top 3 finishes belies the true support that is out there, as evidenced by the large crowd. I do not understand however how 'Democrats' have a monopoly on being anti-war and non-interventionist; and Democrats may claim they want the US gov't and army out of Iraq, but then they want the US gov't to take over healthcare. I do not understand how after clearly screwing up one thing they expect another to go well.

Interesting article if it had a bit more content. ABC surprisingly did a much better job of covering this event and I was able to understand alot more about Ron Paul's thoughts and ideas reading that one.

To get a better understanding of terrorism and why it exists I suggest reading The Logic of Suicide Terrorism by Professor Robert Pape. Very enlightening. In lieu of reading the book you can peruse a relatively short interview on his research here:

One reason I support Ron Paul is that he is not a member of the CFR (the Council on Foreign Relations). Since 1921, the CFR has sought to undermine our sovereignty and has succeeded. Thanks to its efforts, the CFR steered us into the U.N., the WTO, GATT, NAFDA, and the likely North American Union. At the moment, the dollar is weak, Mexican trucks are rolling into the heartland and our borders remain wide open. Paul opposes all of this.

5-6 months ago, I don't think I even knew Dr. Ron Paul existed. Now, I'm convinced he is the best candidate for president, while keeping the majority of American's priorities, rights, and best interests at heart. We've sacrificed enough under these "bought" politicians, the last 40 years. Today,I carrying a picture of my fireman friend who suddenly left 3 very young daughters on 911. I'm keeping it in my security guard shirt pocket enclosed in a copy of Dr. Ron Paul's pocket constitution. When I run into someone who's worthy to see the memorialized picture of my friend (and they usually don't have a magnetic flag on their shiney metal box to prove their patriotism) I take the picture out, tell his story, and put the picture back in the constitution saying, my friend certainly wouldn't have wanted this touched (constitution, bill of rights) at his expense. Ann Coulter still deserves to get the snot smacked out of her for what she said about my friend's wife (daughter of a Manhattan police sgt., and sister to a fireman and police officer.) And every other serviceman's family who suffered a loss that day. How can Sean Hannity have her on his stage tonite? They're not patriots. They're not even nationalists. If Democrats sound like they're for a foreign policy like the one Ron Paul advocates, thats only because they're bowing to current opinion polls. I really like Ron Paul! He is the only one with real courage and gets to the point! He isn't afraid to speak his mind, something every canidate is holding back. Even the Democrats are playing it safe, just like the Republicans. This guy is conservative where it counts and liberal as well, especailly since he is all about uniting everyone in this country. I'm sure he is the only canidate besides Hilary than can get support from both parties. I'm a Democrat, but hearing his views makes more sense to me than any canidate. As you saw, he is very different from all of the other candidates because of the fact that he is seriously consistent and right on line with his purpose, which is the application and facilitation of our Constitution.

I am somebody who never cared much for politics because most politicians aren't direct with their solutions or honest in their answers, rather, they are very scattered in their expressed goals and deceptive in their responses. However, after listening to Ron Paul, the message of Freedom that he advocates would improve the quality of life for every American citizen because he wants to release the "chains of limited civil liberties" that are continuing to bind your family and mine.

Please continue to follow him and the campaign because the people who need your help and my help the most are the people who cannot even ask for it have no one to turn to.

Ron Paul from all that I have watched and read has never waivered (flip-flopped) with his message of hope to the voting public. People who vote will elect him.
I want to speak to the voters about Dr. Paul. If you are a democrat and like what you hear, you can only truely support Ron's message by voting for him. This will mean voting in the republican primary. How do I do this? you ask. You simply make a trip to the local Board of Elections and change your party, either to republican or independent. Ask yourself why is the media scared of Ron Paul?
Why hasn't Ron Paul become a household name, despite winning or placing high in the recent debates?
Why is supporting the Constitution, the very underpinning of this country somehow a bad thing?

Please take the time to research. I did. Like many of you I thought Ron Paul was just another stiff, my mistake, I believed the media. Then I did the research. I don't agree with Ron Paul on every issue.
So what? He's got the main points down and has a track record of voting for US and the Constitution.

On Youtube.com a fellow posted an old campaign ad from Eisenhower's re-election campaign of 1956 which showed a young fellow, enjoying a college football game and then quickly transforming him to a battlefield holding a walkie-talkie. The ad basically says "Aren't you glad you can urge your team to victory in the stands rather than on the battlefields of Korea?"

Should you also be reminded that it was Robert Dole himself who said during his vice-presidential debate with Walter Mondale that if we total up all the dead and wounder from all the "Democrat wars" over the past half-century it would run in the millions?

This idea about "sounding like a Democrat" shows how shallow politcal reporting is. If you had any sense of history (or study history for that matter) you would realize what Ron Paul is trying to do and that is to restore the traditional Republican policy of non-interventionism to a party that's been hijacked by ex-Democrats (Southern Burbons) and ex-Trotskiests (neocons) kicked out of the Democratic Party by the Progessive Republicans and the far-left (McGovernites) that took it over in 1972. It's a policy that served the country well under GOP Presidents like Harding, Coolidge and Hoover and will so again.

One thing that I've noticed after a couple of months of reading up on Dr. Paul and reading the various forums, is that his detractors rarely say anything of substance. It's almost always "he's wacko", "he's stupid", or something along those lines. I'm willing to listen to his detractors, if they would actually SAY something, other than engaging in preschool playground foolishness.

I'll tell you what's "whacko": even CONSIDERING a pre-emptive nuclear strike against ANY nation...period. There is no pride in being a nation of imperialist warmongers. We must rely on diplomacy and trade to spread the message of liberty, not armed force.

I do not agree with every one of Dr. Paul's positions, but a principled man who has stood by his ideals for as long as he has deserves to be considered. Those of you who want someone who promotes family values, morals, and the highest ethical standards need look no further. Not only does he promote these values, he lives them.

All independents out there who want to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries better check your states rule on changing parties . Here in New Jersey they have set a deadline for change so as to freeze Ron Paul out.

We should assume that the politicians in Washington know what is happening to our monetary and economic systems but are simply afraid to speak out about it, Ron Paul, on the other hand, is not afraid.

Few realize that our entire monetary system is not only based upon debt, but it is solely created by debt with each and every Federal Reserve Note (dollar) being borrowed into existence. We constantly hear politicians clamor about the debt, but few are willing to tell the American people that not only can the debt not be paid down or off, but that under this fiat system the debt is irreversible and must continue to expand in order to expand the economy. The problem, of course, is that due to the way the system has been created that eventually the debt, which must be serviced, will begin to siphon off the ability of the economy to maintain growth. Since every single dollar, either physical or digital, are borrowed into existence and economic growth depends on the expansion of the money supply therefore when the debt is paid down the economy is equally constricted. It is a classic Catch 22.

Eventually, the economy can not keep pace with the massive and irreversible debt that creates the monetary system by government fiat. The viability of the system then reaches its maximum possible lifespan and collapses under the weight of debt. In recent years we have seen a very tell-tell sign that we have already reached the system’s practical lifespan; this is evident when the economy becomes assaulted by even minor changes, such as the recent minor raises in the interest rate. Such stress cracks will only continue to spread, deepen and become more frequent as the system begins to falter under the massive and eventually all-consuming debt load.

Everything we have not only our money, but our investments, our savings, our pensions, our 401ks, everything is totally built upon a fiat system and there has not been a fiat system in history that has not suffered eventual collapse causing untold hardship for entire populations. This time however, the population to be effected will be global.

In the fiat system, even taxation is not an issue since the system doesn’t depend on tax to raise revenue. In fact, in a Federal Reserve publication several years ago, it was clearly explained that the only purpose for the progressive income tax was to support the fiat system, for social control and the redistribution of wealth. In other words, we have handed our country over to a bunch of liars whose hands have been in the pockets of the corporate bankers for decades and used the system to their own political and authoritarian benefit, not to the benefit of the People.

We worry that our children and grandchildren will bear the burden of this debt, but it may well be that we will face the economic disaster long before our children are confronted with the issue.

Ron Paul is absolutely correct in calling for the dismantling of the Federal Reserve System and replacing our fiat monetary system with a Sound Monetary Specie. Although many think it impractical to do so, it is not as unrealistic as it may sound. We have been indoctrinated for decades by the fiat moguls that such a sound money system is no longer unattainable or viable, but when we view the alternative we should consider such a transition seriously.

Ron Paul is serious and determined to change the direction of America. It is about time we have an honest politician in the White House. One with courage to do what is necessary to save this great country from corporate America and its puppeteers.
