From NBC’s Domenico MontanaroThe Club for Growth is no fan of Huckabee. The conservative group’s latest attack on the former Arkansas governor comes in the form of an anti-Huckabee Web site, TaxHikeMike. The site contains videos of Huckabee statements,

Another hit job on Huckabee

See? This is what really happens when a Republican 'reaches out'. The republican party has no concern for the everyday man. There is no compassion for anyone who faces economic hardship on a daily basis (isn't helping those in need the foundation of Christianity?) Yet, whenever there is call for national healthcare or any sociological plan to help the many disenfranchised people of our nation it is crushed by the republican party and branded as something that would turn us into a communist country. The level of stupidity and ignorance in this country is appalling, yet the republicans feed on this stupidity because the easiest thing to do is control us like sheep. Especially, the midwest where so many gullible, God-fearing folks believe that because the republicans put God on their side, then everything will be ok because God will lead us. Remember, this is the party that believes guns and God are a great partnership. Does anyone in their right mind actually believe that God loves self-absorbed, gluttonous, arrogant Americans more than people from other parts of the world? Finally, a decent republican (an everyday man with a heart)comes along and he is of course villified by his party! But hallelujah! we have Fred Thompson now! He is such a great actor that it has to mean he'll be a great president! God bless America!

Another hit job on Huckabee

Huckabee, like most governors or former governors, knows that it is the duty of State government to provide essential services for its constituents. To do that, and to meet the demands for those services, requires money. Government has only one way to get the money it needs--taxes.

This is why the Republican manifesto (and I'm a Republican, at least nominally) makes little if any sense. You cannot provide services and cut the funds needed to pay for them. This is one of the main reasons States can't perform their constitutional duties, and ask for Federal involvement in things that aren't Federal responsibilities.

If the Club for Growth were serious about Federal spending (and thus Federal taxes), it would support more spending on a State basis, even if State taxes have to go up to provide it. State spending is easier to control than Federal spending, since it is closer to the people, and, since the States have most sovereign power, more State activity will enable Federal involvement, Federal spending, and Federal taxes to be decreased. This is the essence of American constitutionalism.

Why the Club for Growth doesn't understand this, I don't know. Unless, of course, the Club for Growth secretly wants more Federal government...

Another hit job on Huckabee

The club for growth is joke, whom do they represent the tax cutting big spenders Bush administration. I've lived in Arkansas for 35 years so I speak from experience. He is a dedicated civil servant with the best interest of those who elected him in mind. Knowing that a large number of children in Arkansas had no health insurance, he developed a program titled ARchildren First which provides the lower income children of the state with comprehensive free medical care. If anyone doubts his ability to be the President of the US, they simply need to look at his record of governing the State of Arkansas. Economically, his statesmanship in dealing with businesses in Japan, for example, brought much needed opportunities to the citizens, and his promotion of the beauty of Arkansas as the Natural State brought much needed tourism. I looked forward to being a Grandmother with as much fervor as raising my children, all of whom I love more than my own life. Every minute I get to spend with my Grandchildren is more precious to me than gold. We cook and laugh and bake brownies and laugh and make messes making things and laugh and we play dress-up and we play outside and we get in the water on hot days and we laugh. I tell them stories of their heritage and teach them songs my Grandmother and Mother sang to me and I answer their continuous stream of questions and we laugh. Once, I slid in to first base and I lay on the ground and we laughed and laughed until I could get up again. On the phone we get spontaneous laughter over nothing, that just rolls. One lives in Delaware. I call it Toofar Delaware. One is almost grown. I stock my kitchen with fruits and ice cream and pizzas and yogurt and apple juice just because they expect them to be here. They're always hungry at MoMo's. When they come through my door I get down on my knees and they knock me over with bear hugs. Two of them pile in my lap and we take a ride in my car (motorized wheelchair)laughing all the way. I don't have wrinkles, they're smile lines. When I tuck them in we say our prayers and I read them stories and I make up stories and sing to them until they drift off to sleep. Sometimes we have to stop laughing. They are in my thoughts and my prayers night and day. I teach them to pray and to know the LORD. Sometimes when it's time to go home we cry. They call me MoMo and Grandma. I call them Punkiedoodle, I don't know why. I am loved. My favorite words in this whole wide world are I Love You MoMo/Grandma. I may not be worth much to some folks but they think I hung the moon. I was there when they came into this world.
