Susan, you are so correct, all the repugs I know think it is ok to cheat at everything (run that red light, lie on those tax returns, more than one living spouse, the list just goes on and on). I do not know of one single repugnant that has any credibility at all and have never met one I trust with my children or grandchildren's future. And I sure don't trust them with my healthcare or retirement. Sorry, george, I did not stay drunk and coked up til I was 40 (never tried the coke, but drank lots of beer in college), I realized when I was about 19 that I would have to work all the time, even while in college, so it is not my fault he has not put in enough years to retire, I have no intention of working myself to death til I am 70 just to make some rich jerk richer - let w do it if he can figure out how to actually work a job (now that is pretty doubtful).
Edwards is right, take away the healthcare of all those who make these decisions (congress, president, vp, sec of state) and I bet you would get a healthcare overhaul very quickly.
Had the misfortune of taking a family member to the ER a couple of weeks ago, the Doctor said something I totally agree with - healthcare in this nation will never be right until you get rid of the health insurance companies. Bust them up, they have way too much power and should never be allowed to influence the care your doctor says you need (how long you get to stay in the hospital, what surgeries you need, what medications you need).

If that happens the Democrats will either pull the troops out as they should or, like a deer in the headlights, continue the policy in political paralysis. Either position gives the Republicans a solid platform for reclaiming the white house and congress no later than '16 and as soon as '12. We can wonk health care and trade all day long but it is a waste of time unless we use the time that we have to end Iraq on the watch of the people who stumbled into it. The right wants Hillary as the Democrat nominee, so bad, they realize it is possible she could win, but they believe to the core of their being that she would be the easiest to beat. I wonder if people who don't understand that Hillary's high negatives (almost all the hate of her is unjustified) make it very unlikely she could win the general election know very many independents, or even moderate Republicans. If they did, I don't think they'd dismiss Hillary's very big electability problem.

What is baffling about so many people who support her, which I will if God forbid she is the nominee, is that so few even know her voting record. At the AFL-CIO forum she said NAFTA needed some revisions, and enforcement of violations, and she touted her opposition to CAFTA, the implication being she learned her lesson from Bill's pushing through Geo. HW Bush's NAFTA treaty. However look at her voting record CAFTA is the only "free trade" (screw US unions) agreement she ha voted against, she has voted in favor of every other trade agreement, she is the only Democratic candidate in the Senate to have done so (Obama has also voted with Clinton on the trade agreements while in office, but he has been in 4 years less) Biden, Dodd, and Edwards voted against the trade agreements that she supported. She even spoke on the Senate floor (before voting yes) that she was very concerned that the trade agreement with Australia took away Congressional jurisdiction on drug importation. Of course she wasn't too concerned to vote against it.

The very fact that 6 months in the future is now referred to as a "Friedman Unit" illustrates his consistent inability to predict the future. He's even among those who predicted railing against the war would be costly for Republicans in the last election. Guess that's why they only have a majority in both houses of Congress but it isn't veto-proof.

She is married to a control freak/woman jumping/Morality impaired moron who tells the nation that "he did not have sex with that woman"

last time she brought out her health care plan, she led the GOP to victory.....

She has rallies in Iowa that are putting people to sleep (time magazine).

Might be more ripe for the national enquirer to be reporting on her then the Washington post/new york times!

Lee, since you wish to consider the IAEA correct in their assessment that Iran could have a sufficient stock of weapons-grade material in 2-3 years to build a bomb (not the same thing by a country mile as having a bomb) and acknowledge that they were also correct in saying that Iraq never had a bomb, can't it also be true that Iran is currently cooperating with the inspectors and that the drums of war are hurting rather than helping the effort to ensure they do not weaponize their nuclear program? Certainly their track record is a lot better than Eliot Abrams and Fred Kagan. As far as shaped charges are concerned that can be as simple as pouring a bowl of concrete in a hole, a bomb on top, and filling the rest of the hole with dirt. Yes, the Iranians may well be trying to route weapons to their Shiite cousins in Iraq. The Saudis and Syrians are trying to route weapons to their Sunni cousins likewise. All of these countries want a buffer of the same ethnicity between them and "the other" and Turkey doesn't want a Kurdish nation to their south. Which is why we should not have destabilized the region in the first place. Prudent diplomats wish to work from a climate of stability and make incremental changes. The neocons assume that secular democracies friendly to the US will "bloom like wildflowers" (their words, not mine) if they destroy the existing governments. How's that working out? Not too well I'd say, and they're wrong once again.
