Fundraisers are EVIL! Now Hillary is a poster child for raising money, which has no place in politics, especially if you can't raise enough!
I say listen to Trippi, keep the lobyists in the LOBBY! Don't let them have seats, no matter what they pay or they will SIT AND TALK, and that is wrong and violates free speech, without which we wouldn't have such great candidates.
We should leave the fundraising to the republicans because they have to have something to do before they attack the democrats and you know that they will need money for that, so let them! We don't need to be poster children, we can be better them them by collecting Change.
So, send all of your change to John Edwards and we can put our own children on posters and then maybe we will find them and the republicans will be stuck in the lobby, with so many chairs that no one will want to sit and talk, even if the is coffee and cake.

Trippi insults our intelligence by his phony assertions that ''homeland security''insiders are somehow differant than ''corporate''insiders. We find,through the good offices of the non-partisan ROLL CALL for this day,that the PMA Group, who would stand to vastly enrich themselves in the area of homeland security,donated over 1.3 million in the last election cycle to Democrats,and who have now been repaid with over 100 million in taxpayers monies for ''research''that has not a damned thing to do with either the safety of our soldiers in Iraq,or the safety of American citizens here at home.
All of the dough went to Democrats,with,as we may have expected,Jack Murtha [D-Pa]leading the pack. It was he who steered the hundred mil to PMA along with his pal Jim Moran [D-Va]. Pass to Hillary,and todays Washington Post comes up with a scathing article by liberal journalist and Bush critic Richard Cohen,who blasts Hillary for her cowardice in the MOVEON/''Betrayus'' imbroglio.
We thus find that Hillary and a few of her fellows including Obama and Edwards now find themselves in as much in thrall to a radical ''values'' lobby as did the Republicans in the days of the ''Moral Majority''. Say what one will regarding the GOP,they have been distancing themselves from such an alliance,with more pro-abortion and secular themes emerging from the top candidates[ none of whom showed up at a conferance that was put on by these ''values''coalition members including conservative Christians]. They are willing to take a chance of incurring their wrath.
Not so the Democrats,outside of the lone Biden. They have knuckled under to the threats of the MOVEONers [witness the McCarthyite garbage dealt out to Edwards wife by one leftwinger],that they toe the party line..or else. MOVEON thus becomes a new ''values''goon squad whereby the nation is to be run by those who share a like ideology that is not universally embraced by Americans[many,including liberals and even leftwingers who are otherwise antiwar/administration critics,are nonetheless disturbed at the strident authoritarian tone now being taken up by MOVEON,ANSWER,KOS, and other leftwinged organizations[HUFFINGTON POST blog replies for more on this,as well as Brian Williams blog on this network]. Edwards will be suffering from the same problem the Republicans have. He's against too many things while not making a louder case for what he stands for. He's not only anti-Hillary...he's anti-Bush and I think that's just too much to focus on. One reason Obama has overtaken him. I like Edwards but I get the feeling he's hanging on by a thread..and he just doesn't seem as impressive to me as Obama. His ultra-populist message just seems slightly dated. Lee about the Republicans I don't think distancing themselves from the social conservative base will work. They have become an integral part of the party...but I don't think that is bad b/c they are a segment that is focused on social services and welfare issues. In fact northern(country club) Republicans are viewed as an enigma now..so social conservatives are probably the majority. The GOP's mistake was in pandering exculsively to the extreme elements (anti abortion nuts/theocrats) while making false claims of overturning Roe v Wade and amending discrimination into the constitution. Generally legislating for votes. If/when they lose this presidential run they will return to their base and revise their message and strategy...most likely revoking their pledges to Bush politics.

CLINTON ON ISRAEL. Clinton's policy paper on Israel seems substantially worse than her policy paper on health reform. It says that Clinton "believes that Israel’s right to exist in safety as a Jewish state, with defensible borders and an undivided Jerusalem as its capital, secure from violence and terrorism, must never be questioned."

Seems anodyne, but that bit on an undivided Jerusalem is actually quite radical. Even the Bush administration is pushing Ohlmert to continue talks with Abbas on a solution that would include some measure of shared sovereignty over Jerusalem, which neither side has ever been willing to give up. For Clinton to preemptively take that off the table -- assuming it's not just a disingenuous pander to AIPAC -- is to end any hope that American could help push towards a solution in the region.

Margaret – In case you don’t remember, the GOP played the Monica card in the mid term elections of 1998. The result: The GOP lost seats – the first time that a second term president’s party did not lose seats in the mid –terms. That’s why Gingrich was forced to resign. So that didn’t work out too well for them. Then Hillary won the NY Senate seat in a landslide …then Bill Clinton left office with the highest approval rating of any president in 50 years. So much for the effectiveness of Monica Lewinsky as a campaign strategy!
