It is not enough that seemingly every state that can is desperately moving up primary contest dates to as close to January 1, 2008 as possible in the hopes of derailing the momentum that presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Tex) will derive from a good New Hampshire finish. Now the GOP in many states has apparently taken to shutting down the possibility that Independents or Democrats can vote for Ron Paul in the GOP primary.

Such contests, inviting a broad electoral spectrum, have taken place in the past without controversy or interference.

Why now? What is the hurry? Is it all coincidence?

This reporter needs to get her story straight, she did get the 5 million in contributions right though. First off, he raised 5 million dollars, if someone can explain to me how the criminals in this country can band together and organize a 5 million dollar effort I would be amazed. Why isn't Paul running as what he really is?? - that is, flying a Libertarian flag. Well, because Libertarians have alot of bad press due to their flat-out contrariness, particularly when it comes to federal entitlements - eg. Social Security and Medicare.

Has your hero guaranteed that he as president will not go after the elimination of said federally subsidized benefits?? Apparently no one has dared ask him the question because they're so enamored with his outspoken plan to exit Iraq ---- good idea by the way. Yes, Bush is an abomination and who's disputing that?? I've opposed the Iraq invasion since the weapons inspectors left with no WMD evidence. Many of us knew it was a fallacious gambit even then, and maybe you were among that number.

Anyway, it is hoped that you can spew forth some truth regarding Mr. Paul and his stand regarding the above benefits question - surely you know that anyone proposing (out loud) to eliminate or dramatically scale back these benefits is dead meat...period.

Of course the republicans have had it on their agenda for years, but dare not utter a word, and especially now when they're in such a monumental crisis state....Ron Paul ain't got nothin' and in your heart of hearts you know it. Also, he hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell - that will most likely be Guiliani's ticket to ride.

One of the best things about a Ron Paul presidency would be for media idiots to learn the difference between an isolationist and a non-interventionist. It was VERY noticeable that Brian Williams gave absolutely NO mention of Ron Paul's break out numbers in the opening political stories last night on the NBC Nightly News. And the big 3 networks wonder why watchers are flocking to other news sources and the internet for their news and information? NBC News and Bryan Wilson lost at least fourteen dedicated viewers last night. I can only speak for my family and circle of friends that were regular NBC viewers.

All of these anti-Ron Paul news sites and providers are going to find that, people with any sense are going to at least wonder why he is being given this treatment and do a little research on RP. It is what drove me to do some checking on the guy and that's what eventually caused me to join in with Ron Paul and his campaign. Now I am a fervent supporter! I have been voting since 1976 and this is the first time I have ever gotten this fired up over a candidate or actually GIVEN MONEY TO A CAMPAIGN!

More blatant MSM (main stream media) disregard for this fast rising TRUE Republican!

His $5+ million campaign contributions announcement yesterday pushes him to at least into the top 4 and gurantees he's in this campaign for the long haul! This news was reported by many of the major news outlets, but NOT NBC. The talking head lady yesterday (Nora something?) that broke the news on MSNBC called Ron Paul a Gadfly and an Isolationist? WTF? It's extremely clear to me that NBC and MSNBC have their own agenda's and are not compelled to report in a fair and truthful way.

My thought are this- The MSM wants their Liberal Democrat in office, no doubt about that. Hillary is almost a shoe in for the Dems nomination. ANY other Republican would not have a snowballs chance against Hillary, EXCEPT Ron Paul. When folks start hearing what Dr. Paul's core beliefs and political message are and what his past Congressional voting record is, there is sure to be a surge in his support!

The American people are fed up, sick and tired of being lied to and railroaded by the corporate media, big business and the self-serving politicians that "service" this country!

RP is not the right wing wacko that I once thought he was and what the smear campaigns and political pundits would have you and I believe, FAR FROM IT! Think for yourselves folks, it's more important now than ever!

Dr. Ron Paul has cured my bad case of voter APATHY that I've had for the last 30 YEARS. FINALLY, a candidate that I can vote FOR instead of voting for the lesser of two evils!

Dear InTheMiddleTX: Perhaps you should check your facts. When the Republican heavy Texas legislature redrew the district lines in 2001, Paul's district was gerrymandered just like the rest of them. In fact, its not exactly Republican-friendly terroritory. However, Paul is a genuine guy who is accessible and responsive to the constituents in his district. That is why he keeps getting re-elected.

He'd probably win as a Green Party candidate - but that's not what he is. He is an old-school, Goldwater Republican. This guy is more conservative than the "conservatives." That's his appeal.
