McCain said something like, 'I don't know much about the economy, that's why I trust those smarter than me? Sure, he did okay.' First, I agree, Ben Bernanke is doing okay, he's watching and keeping matters in check. But is that really what the USA wants in a leader, somebody who doesn't know or have any intuition on what's best for the economy? I keep being driven further from McCain, which is sad because 7 years ago, he was my favorite.

Now I like the Huck and Romney for the republicans.

*Finally, that was a fascinating debate. It was really one of the more interesting ones to watch. I think the democrats would be wise to stop counting their chickens before they are hatched. Because their issue the war, which isn't going so well for them. Well, the republicans are probably going to start changing there mind during the general and with the senate elections. Force a compromise, and wind up looking like the good guys. I can see it now . . . "We have tried in Iraq, but they just don't want to reconcile. It is no longer worth the lives of our soldiers." Of course, they will do it in the most hawkish way. And I don't respect a politian's swinging with the election winds. Ron Paul may still be able to support a candidate yet.

Sorry for the poor grammar and misspelling.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics? And if those taxes are cut as each one of the Republicans promises, how are their wars to be financed? Do they plan on keeping war spending "off budget" as Bush has done, or will they realize that they can't have their wars without paying for them ? It seems the Republicans can always find money for their wars, the military industrial complex, no-bid-contracts with likes of Haliburton and Blackwater, but are determined to cut as many domestic programs as possible so that they can wear the mantra of "conservative". Supporting Bush's veto of children's healthcare while supporting his demand for another $190 BILLION for his war in Iraq is a prime example of this crowd's priorities.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

At least Fred isn't in favor of gun control. He is a fresh breath of polictics.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

Judging from the reaction online, the consensus seems to be:

Paul: A
Huckabee: B
Guiliani: C
Thompson, Hunter: D
Romney, McCain, Brownback, Tancredo: F

It seems like Romney's answer about checking with his attorneys on whether to go war with another country may be the biggest wound suffered at this debate; it makes it sound like the ONLY thing he knows is business, and that he's a complete idiot when it comes to foreign policy, federal government, and the Constitution.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

Fred was impressive and he certainly trashed that little dolt, Matthews.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

Why don't the Democrats recognize it was their fault that the children's program did not move ahead. Have concerns about Mr. Romney that have NOTHING to do with his religious beliefs, but more with the fact that he puts his Irish Setter's crate on the roof of his truck when the family drives to their cottage in Canada - how is that for common sense (or lack thereof....)?

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I really liked listening to the presidential class of Mike Huckabee. I think he has more right answers that all the others. But, frankly I'm ashamed of the Republicans and Democrats in Washington. These so called leaders are all suppose to be Americans first and looking for the good of our nation and our freedom. We should never have gone to war in Iraq, but now that we've screwed them up, we need to finish the job and give them a strong government, but most of all we need to stop our bickering and support our troops. I listen to the elected senators that want the top job and most of them voted to go into Iraq. Now they want to cut and run. That tells me, and the world they never thought they could win to start with and now to get elected they will say anything to get votes.

I sure would like to see a candidate from either side that would stick to their word and if they don't resign and get out of Washington. We don't need liars, and fill my palm with green back representatives running America, we just need a strong American that isn't looking for popularity to make some radical changes to the way our government spends money and protects our freedoms.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

**Romney - Mormon, for crying out loud, he believes he can become a god if he is good enough on earth.
**Thompson - very conservative, but tells you how it is!
**McCain - wishy washy, but has good views, shoots himself in the foot at moments.
**Paul - wasting his time.
**Guiliani - NYC, he's got that going for him.
**The rest - who???
Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I DID NOT WATCHNOR WILL I WATCH THIS OR ANY OTHER DEBATE, REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT. Yes, he's an actor now, but the majority of his adult life has been spent in government, including lobbying. Also, I wonder when the CEO-for-President model will be recognized as wholly inappropriate? The United States government is not a corporation, and should be run on entirely separate, often divergent, principles. Yes, he did look a bit tired in the beginning, but perked up quickly. He was the only one who did not seem to be in the pocket of the trade unions. To get right to the meat of the subject, the candidate "I " would vote for is the one that will make a sincere attempt at dialog with our enemies. They are enemies because of our pro Jewish inclinations. You don't need a crystal ball to see that the Arabs have good cause not to trust a country that gives such an enormous amount of weaponry to a state that has occupied Palestianian land since the end of WW2. How would anyone feel if some soldiers came to your house and told you to leave. Come on people, put your intelligence to work, figure it out. This has been going on a long time, and "I" personally can understand why the Palestianian people hate Israel. Even some jews understand the problem and sympathise with the Arabs. What I don’t understand is why the rest of the GOP feels the need to bash him and his followers at every turn. It isn’t the Libertarian wing of the party that got us into all our current messes and debts. It seems to me that many in the GOP would rather we continue with the massive debt and deficits just so long as nobody rocks the boat to much. Of course they then talk out of the other side of their mouth about how America is going down the tubes.

Ron Paul will not win anything this election, but he is pushing Liberty back onto the Conservative side of things where it belongs.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

Go RON PAUL. Merrell-- The war is financed by huge debt to communist China.

--D Padelford--If Romney is a CHRISTIAN then he isn't a Latter Day Saint. The "Christ" of LDS is "SPIRIT-BROTHER OF LUCIFER" he was conceived by LDS God who is "MAN" of flesh and bones as tangible as man's, a god among many gods, with many wives who are having spirit children for eternity who are waiting to inhabit LDS human bodies so they can come to earth and perform baptisms using the names of deceased humans to try to free the "spirits in prison" who, according to the Bible, are fallen angels (demons) locked in chains, awaiting the Great Judgement. The Christ of Christians Created Lucifer, Creator of every living thing, the Word of GOD made flesh and dwelled among us, the manifestation of the invisible GOD who is Spirit, who is the only One GOD, whose Spirit is the "seed" of the woman promised in Eden (a woman has no "seed" of herself), The very Spirit of GOD that moved upon the face of the waters in the Creation of the world was present, Creating the Christchild, the Word of God made flesh, who took on the form of man, to redeem us, pay our sin debt and redeem us from the curse of sin and death brought on by first man's obedience to satan and his promise of godhood, (which LDS believe today, that if they keep all LDS laws, someday, they may become gods with god-wives)whereby man lost his dominion to the bondage of satan's sin and death. According to ancient law of redemtion, one of our own family, one of us, had to pay/remit the price for our sin. From the garden, man's sin was covered by blood of sacrifice, the animal slain to be thrown over man to cover the flesh who had lost the glory covering of GOD, for GOD cannot look upon sin. GOD rejected the "apron" man had created in attempt to cover his "nakedness" his loss of GOD'S glory. Yet LDS receive "apron" in temple rites, which, during LDS temple rites, Lucifer claims is a symbol of his priesthoods and power. Christ of the Bible said, this is the blood of the New Testament/Covenant shed for the remission of sin.He explained that no Testament/last will, is in effect until the death of the testator. There is NO "another testament" of Christ. It is a "testament" of "another christ." GOD'S plan of salvation, from the beginning, was that if man fell by satan's deceptions, HE would, himself, IMMANUEL-GOD with us, pay to redeem our eternal "zoe" the highest blessedness, for eternity, to all who Believe and repent, turn from, sin. In an Instant they are reborn, born again, "of GOD'S SPIRIT" they become a new creation, they are brought into "atonement"--"at one ment"--right relationship, again with GOD, the glory of HIS SPIRIT once again covers them as a garment slipped over one's head. Yet, LDS Christ could Not pay for all sin. It is up to LDS to "atone" for their own sins through obedience to all laws and covenants of LDS, over eons of time, during life and after death. Those who come to CHRIST of the Bible are spiritually transferred into that eternal life in an instant, when they die their spirits return to Christ, their souls sleep, and their bodies return to dust, awaiting the great "catching away" when the "dead in Christ" shall rise first, then those who are still living, shall rise to meet them in the air, to forever be with Christ. New Jerusalem of the Bible shall come down out of heaven from GOD. It shall be 1500 miles square (not 1500 sq. miles) and the streets and the city shall be pure gold, and the foundations of the city of precious stones, and the river of Life shall flow from the throne of GOD and of the LAMB and the tree of Life shall grow along the banks of the river. The New Jerusalem of LDS is to be built in Independence Misssouri, USA, by LDS. To enter the celestial kingdom of LDS one must have a certificate from Joseph Smith, the founding "prophet" who "prophesied" that if his wife didn't accept LDS Doctrine and Covenant # 132, (still law for Romney and all Utah-LDS today)the law of plural wives--she would be destroyed. She Did reject it. She lived many more years. The "prophet" was "destroyed" within months, murdered by a mob of disgruntled LDS and citizens of the community, murdered while jailed for treason and inciting riot-for destruction of printing press of newspaper owned by dissenting LDS who reported the "prophet's" many wives, long before the "prophecy," the "LAW" was given to LDS members. When LDS die, they are taught, they spend a mandatory amount of time in hell, while they and their living family perform LDS requirements to pay their way out of hell so they can begin performing obedience toward their own godhood.

Romney is NOT forthright with voters as he courts the votes of Bible-believers and Christians. Although LDS have assumed many names/words/phrases of the Bible/Judaism/Christianity, and although their living prophet says they are christians since "Christ" is in name of their religion--that's like saying all males name "Christian" are Christians--they are Not Christians unless they are born again of the Spirit of the Only Living God, through faith in His Living Word, the Messiah-the Christ of the Bible--then they can not be Christian. Christ says many shall say in that day, Lord,Lord, but he shall tell them, depart from me, I never knew you. That word "knew" means the intimate oneness relationship Christ indwells every born again believer in Him.

Christ of the Bible warned, in the LATTER DAYS there would come many falsechrists leading many astray--false prophets, false apostles, false teachers, false doctrines. He said BeNot--Do Not Be--deceived.

GOD says, Be not deceived, GOD is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. I cannot help but wonder and watch as Romney dances around his deception.

Just a few words to clarify "Romney Christianity." VOTERS deserve to know. I left out references observing space limitation, but they can be supplied readily.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

Sure Romney would check his "attorneys"

He would check with his "Security/Intelligence Advisors"

Two of whom are:

J.Cofer BLACK: of BLACKWATER and THE BLACK GROUP, LTD., who has been criticized for attempting to give to much power to private security firms. Like giving a well-memorized business speach at a business conference, complete with well-memorized punch-lines. He stays within the perimeter of those memorized lines, and if a question veers off-course, he quickly goes back into his memorized lines or falls back on his memorized quips. nervous and robotic.

Why bring Romney's religion into the conversation? Because, unlike Catholics who pray to Mary, generational, initiated, seasoned LDS know their scriptures/covenants to take over the world, beginning with the U.S. of A.

Don't take my word for it.

LDS are to reveal not, while they carefully gather as many in one region as possible--finding favor with the people--while their ARMY OF [LDS]ISRAEL gathers strength and becomes very great--HELD GUILTLESS--to CONSTRAIN the kingdoms of the world to acknowledge their KINGDOM OF [LDS]ZION, and their God. (e.g. [LDS]"Doctrine and Convenants #105:23-32). (LDS GOD: "MAN" e.g. Moses 6:57, 7:35, LDS "Pearl of Great Price," Caps added).

Jihadists will rage against us if we choose a leader whose scriptures teach this. Am I persecuting LDS? NO. I am sharing information. But radical Islamists WILL Persecute. They WILL study the scriptures. Probably already know them, already, more than Romney knows about them.

Romney is already gathering the Chairman, Vice Chairman, etc. of BLACKWATER and and other "private security" armies that are bought and paid for. He wants 100,000. Guess how many they add up to in Iraq? Besides his own $$$ millions, there are the combined assets of the millions of dollars in tithes contributed daily by LDS members, held by the "Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Inc." (LDS "church" members, have no contol over decisions of LDS Brethren/Leaders, but are to supposed to obey them in all things temporal and spiritual).

LDS scripture in "Ensign," Nov, 2000, p.7, reminds them, "All Latter-day Saints enter the new and everlasting covenant when they enter this Church. They COVENANT TO CEASE SUSTAINING, UPHOLDING AND CHERISHING...kingdoms of this world. They enter the new and everlasting COVENANT TO SUSTAIN the Kingdom of [LDS]God and NO OTHER kingdom. They TAKE A VOW OF THE MOST SOLEMN KIND before the heavens and the earth...that they will SUSTAIN...and BUILD UP the Kingdom of [LDS]God, INSTEAD OF the kingdoms of this world (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young [1997], 62-63)." (Caps added)."

This, alone, places Romney in direct opposition to being President of the United States.

J.D. Williams, a University of Utah political science professor explained LDS have a climate wherein Democracy cannot thrive, with the disquieting statement: "When the leaders have spoken, the thinking has been done." He reported that LDS-Mormon politicians already know "what they're supposed to do." And referred to the LDS Organization as "Big Brother." (The Wall Street Journal, Nov. 9, 1983, p.16).

New LDS members are told there are "deep doctrine" they are not ready for yet. They go like these:

LDS God tells LDS to go forth into the great cities SETTING FORTH the (in reverse of the Bible) DESOLATION OF ABOMINATION in the last days, for he will REND THE KINGDOMS with them (e.g. [LDS]Doctrine and Covenants 84:177-118).

LDS are to prepare themselve for the "UNITED ORDER" (e.g.[LDS]Journal of Discourses vol.17, p.250).

The nations will bow to LDS kingdom and all hell cannot help it (e.g. J. of D. vol.7, p.170).

THE KINGDOM AND POWER (which, according to Biblical scripture, as in Chrisian "Lord's Prayer," Matthew 6:9, Luke 11:2, belongs to GOD)HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THE "HIGH PRIESTS" OF LDS (e.g. D.&C.75:1). GUESS WHO IS LDS HIGH PRIEST?

It is none of LDS members' business if their LDS leaders are right or wrong, if leaders tell them to do a thing, they are to do as they are told (e.g. vol.6, p.32).

A former teacher at Brigham Young University stated that it's no secret LDS-Mormons intend to TAKE OVER THE WORLD, it's in all their writings. And LDS plan to save the Constitution of the U.S. by establishing a THEOCRACY ("Saints Among Us," Rocky Mountain Magazine, Jan./Feb. 1980, pp.17-32).

Hmmmm. No wonder they pout: "Keep religion out of it!"

Former President Clinton recently told a group we need to BEWARE the dangers of any political group posing as religion. Well said.

Name-calling by LDS has quieted some people from disclosing the facts. Well, as my Mother used to say, "They can only kill me once, the truth be told."

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

All in all a debate worth watching. If yes, vote Democrat, if no, you know the answer.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I'm not voting for Thompson. He didn't promise to give us anything for free. That's why I'm voting for Hillary.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

As far as war in Iran: If it ever came to that, there is absolutely NO NEED for "boots on the ground". Let them rebuild their own country.
As far as people dissing Mormonism for their theological beliefs, perhaps they should understand that Mormons follow God's revealed truth and if that's a problem, take it up with God.
As far as the middle-east mindset, remember that Jews have an equal, perhaps even superior, claim to what they consider "their land", which predates World War 2 by millennia. Reconciliation is not possible until the Arabs drop the policy of genocide.
As far as voting for a Democrat, it's true that a sharp left turn on taxes and entitlements will not help the economy, burdened as it is with a government that takes a bigger portion of hard earned dollars than it should. Remember, anytime the government gets involved, it creates a surplus in one sector of the economy and a shortage in another, which benefits nobody. Less government generally equals a more responsive economy.
As far as the line-item veto, it is necessary since so many bills have non-essential, even contradictory and known veto items, so much legislation that's passed ends up being a very mixed bag. I doubt the founding fathers ever anticipated such devious tactics, but if it takes an adjustment to the Constitution to allow a line item veto, so be it. We should look outside the box on that one.
As far as Romney's statement where he'd consult attorneys regarding going to war, I believe that's a reflection of his reliance on rule of law in determining action which is not a bad idea at all.
And while Matthews isn't my ideal for a moderator, consider that the Democratic candidates have not been vetted so far in this election, yet the Republican candidates certainly have. The Democratic candidates will not be ready for the withering fire that will confront them in the general election. Hiding from challenging situations only tends to weaken them and does the electorate no favors.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

Was Senator Thompson just ill at ease or does he have more serious health issues of which I am unaware? He looked like a man in ill health, so tired and drawn.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I watched the debate primarily to get a look at Fred Thompson, to see what he's about. Well, he ain't about much...I found myself being embarrassed for him. He kept looking down at his notes ("let's see, what did they tell me to say?") He's just "out of it" in general. Astounding to me that anyone takes him seriously. And really insulting to those who make it their passion to KNOW whats going on in the world and think up ways to help. My impression: phony to the core.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I'm a Republican and I hate to admit it ... None of these guys has a chance against Clinton. Throughout the debates -- and in their campaigns -- they have dug themselves into holes and Hillary will just pile on the topsoil. He hasn't dug a hole as much as he looks like he's ready to fall in one.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I personally would vote for either Guiliani or Romney - and I'm a registered democrat! That's cause they're both pulling the wool over the eyes of all of you. And you guys called John Kerry a flip flopper? THese guys bring new meaning to the term and it would almost be worth it to see Hillary lose to one of these guys to watch the shock on all the republicans' faces when Mitt or Rudy - ESPECIALLY Rudy - I'm a NYer who met him in person several times and know just how ultimately liberal he really is - doesn't turn out to be the 'conservative' conservator
As for THompson - he doesn't have an original thought in his head and if it isn't written down in front of him [check out how many times he checked his podium sheet last nite] - he can't function, so if you REALLY want to get the measure of the man, solicit his speechwriters and campaign handlers, cause what you saw up there last nite was just an empty suit - and an old, wrinkled one at that.
(made John McCain look fresh)

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

To: Dennis, Roanoke, Va.

It's unusual, and nice, to read a Republican speak the truth: "None of these guys has a chance against Clinton".

Fred Thompson started too late. John McCain's chance came and went in 2000. Mitt Romney has too much explaining to do (flip-flops, religious values, and his limited grasp of Presidential authority). Rudy Guiliani's agressive, in your face style may be fine for New York City, but not for the nation (he will go to excess and implode prior to 11/08, if not before New Hampshire). As for Mike Huckabee, I don't think the GOP could stand another President from Hope, AK.

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

I have been following Fred Thompson for months now. I am convinced he is the best candidate in the group. I feel like he is trustworthy, which is an important factor in my decision. Romney....good guy, but I think his religion will hurt him. Guiliani.....doesn't have the same values as I would prefer in a President. The rest of them, well, I think they should re-consider before the next debate....they take too long and give you alot of garbage information. GO FRED!!!!

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

If this had been a real debate, Romney would have dominated Giuliani. If you actually paid attention to the exchange between the two on the line-item veto and not just Rudy talking about being Mayor of New York, you would have heard Romney mention that the line-item veto in the way that it had been formatted was ruled unconstitutional - not the actual line-item veto. Also, as the Mayor pointed out himself as well as Romney, taking the line-item veto to the Supreme court was not about being a strict-constructionist as Rudy thinks himself to be, but it was about securing more funds for spending on his constituency.

In a real debate you also have to cite sources from time to time. Romney did just that when he rebutted the phony numbers on spending put forth by Giuliani who still continued to use those numbers even post-debate. Saying that Giuliani won this exchange is an insult to intelligence and logic everywhere.

By the way, who else was excited about halfway through the debate when it still seemed possible that Rudy would get through an entire event without mentioning 9/11?

Did Thompson Quiet His Critics?

--Mormon's follow God's revealed truth and if that's a problem take it up with God.--Galen Haugh

You see, there it is again.

Do you really know no better, or are you intentionally trying to deceive anyone who does not yet know the differences between the "revealed" God of LDS, who is "MAN" (e.g. Moses 6:57, 7:35)/and the Only, Living GOD of the Bible.
