Give all Americans health care. Lets look back at Medicare part D. The estimate given for elderly to receive aid for medication was a vast under assessment. Now her plan is to spread mot just prescriptions but all medical care. She claimed in her statement above to be on the side of the middle class. If she really was why bring in a program that will lower pay rates across the board to middle class in the form of higher payroll taxes. Already Americans pay a combination between employer and worker a range of about 15% to 50% of their wage in a payroll tax and she wants to raise that more. how is lowering take home wages a form of fighting for the middle class when the economic truth is that a wide spread health plan would hurt the middle class financially.

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

Hillary is correct. It created the biggest boon in modern times. But we conviently skip facts when we are out to belittle and demonize someone. I pay more for health insurance then I have ever. But that is alright with you. You have no problem paying twice as much for healthcare then the people of Canada. We pay almost 18 % of our budget for healthcare. care to guess how much they pay in Canada? I know you do not know but the answer is 9 %. Facts have an ubly way of ruining your cheap shot arguement. Remember the last thing a republican will ever do is help their fellow americans. It is much easier to call all the poor as lazy bums. Republicans prefer to monitor and use surveillance on our fellow americans. instead of helping they perfer to put people in jail that do not agree with them then actually help. Republicans the high moral party despise helping fellow americans as much as terrorists. Republicans are all about me and nothing to help our country. You will not find any republicans running to the recruiters office any time soon, but they will tell you if you are patriotic. So Joseph, the current system is fine with 1 out of 5 people without health insurance. If you of these people get sick, should we shut the hospital door? Only people that have insurance can see doctors? Right now we pay more for health insurance due to the administration of it. The riches man in Minnesdota is the CEO of Awre Gold. He makes more money then our bankers, salesmen, and everyone else. Guess What Joseph, we are paying his wages and still more people lose insurance every year. Hear you go smart guy, tell me how much has health insurance gone up over the last 6 years. Double digit increase in premium and services every year your leader is in office. So you can try to justify your position by cherry picking some information. By the way , did you know that Clinton used payroll taxes to aceive his tax cuts. That is one way all americans share in the tax cut. But W decided that only people thar paid taxes got a tax rebate. So the lower 50 % of americans got no tax cut from W. Here let's break down the W tax cut. 70 % of W's tax cut went to the top 1/3 of americans. Infact the top 1 % received 15 % of W's tax cut. So basically W's tax cut gave the millionaire an extra 200,000 dollars a year while the person at less than 20,000 dollars got 0 dollars in tax cut. Is this fair? The only reason our economy turned around in 2004 was because we were giving money away free at 1 %. We had 3 years of w's tax cut and it did not bring us out of the recession. The 1 % interest rate did. So who did W's tax cut helped most? Not middle america that is for sure.

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

Mike:What in blazes sense does this make? Funny, every other country that has universal health care, their economy is doing fine. You are such a typical republican fear mongerer. It is so sad you have to use fear instead of facts to justify your arguement. So Joe, what do we do to the people that have no insurance. Not one of you gutless republicans can answer this question. WHY,because republicans are like the cowardly lion. All Talk no walk. So Joe instead of suppling health care to everyone, what should we do to the people that have no insurance? Lock them out of hospitals:? Deny emergency room care ? Again you gutless republican cowards, come out and say what you really mean. Only the rich will have health insurance and the rest of americans can die in the streets. Hey you republican cowards why is the CEO of Blue Cross the richest man in Minnesota. Again you cowards do not even try to dispute any facts. You all just go right into fear/smear mode. Joe, we pay 2 times more than every other country for our health care and yet 1 out of 5 have no health care. Joe the typical fear mongerer brings up the economy. Well Joe lets look at the economy. If businesses did not have to pay for health insurance for their employee's. Would that not help that businesses bottom line? But Joe needs to scare people so he conviently leaves out all the facts. He just picked the fear to justify his positon. Bottom Line is republicans hate their fellow americans and would cut open a vein before they would ever help their fellow americans or fight for this great country. You republicans are all gutless cowards and have to resort to name calling whenever you can not win an arguement. Come on you idiot republicans lets talk about health insurance and tell me what your plan is to fix the health care problem. The problem is republicans do not care and prefer to chastise a 12 year old boy. Hey Rich do you feel like a big man after going after a 12 year old. We know Rich/republicans will never fight for this country, but have no problem destroying a 12 year old cripples life. You know what Rich, these are the republican values. Just like the nazi you are to attack a 12 year old. I keep calling you republicans gutless cowards and by gawd you have earned it. To attack a 12 year and broadcasting his address, name, and city so all the cowardly republicans can attack him. It must make you feel real proud to have a FOX reporter sitting at this kids house, to just destroy him. He was not there to report a story, he was there to create one. Typical republican courage to go after 12 year olds. Hey you cowards come after me, I am at least an adult and over 40. Come on you cowards let the 12 year old live his life and come and attack me. Trust me , I will attack back since I learned from the best. I was a republican for 24 years before I changed parties, So I look forwarded to debating, scratch that, to fearing and smearing with all you yellow bellied republican pigs.

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

Lee, you're completely glossing over the fact that Bush's "acceptable" level of funding and a series of administrative changes of questionable legality are designed to DECREASE participation in this program. The Republican party has become so radical that things that were acceptable or even GOP ideas 10 years ago are now out of the question. During the Reagan administration Arlen Specter was considered one of the most reliable conservatives in Congress. Now he's frequently referred to as a RINO. What do these things say about the Republican party?

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

John B: Nonsense. You again forget John, that poorer families with private insurance would be forced to foot the bill for wealthier ones based upon their choice of state residence. This becomes a bottom-up environment which is unacceptable.[And as it is,as we see from the SCHIP charts,it is wealthier ''Blue ''states such as California,Massachusetts,New Jersey,Illinois and New York that are hogging the dough].Indeed,New York grabs more SCHIP money alone, of which the majoral recipients are adults, than eleven states combined.
And what of DINOs John? You trot out one guy. Yet in the election that ushered in the Democrats, many Dem freshmen including Tester of Montana,Schyler of North Carolina,Casey of Pennsylvania ,Webb of Virgina, have consistantly pitted themselves against the liberal base of their own party. What rather, does this tell us about Democrats, who ARE the ruling party in Congress and thus should have no trouble[heh],getting ''the swamp drained''.

Also see: The New York Times,Oct 12,2007:''Liberals Trying To Democrats''.

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

Lee, no, not nonsense. The level of funding the prez wants will decrease the number of enrollees. End of story. Yes, some states get more money than others based both on population and cost of living since the program is tied to the poverty line which varies from area to area. And what of DINOs? Y'know what, my own representative is more conservative than I prefer on some issues but for the most part he's OK. This is a more conservative district than say, San Francisco, and we have a slightly more conservative Democrat to reflect the wishes of the electorate. But you won't find him trying to insist that Creationism/Intelligent Design be taught in public schools, or that the Clean Air Act be overturned, or that Plan B not be available in pharmacies. Likewise Tester, Schyler, Casey, and Webb are more conservative than some in their party but they're clearly to the left of their opposition. Funny thing is, Democrats aren't the ones making noise about DINOs and RINOs, it's mostly a conservative theme. And do we really need to get into the discussion of not having a veto-proof majority or having a president that will veto anything the party passes again?

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

While Senator Hillary Clinton is not my preferred candidate, I cannot fault her point of view regarding the potential destruction of the middle class.

Lou Dobbs said months ago that corporate america was trying to accomplish the same thing, the destruction of the middle class.

When the relationship between CEOs and corporate boards (the latter of which have a fiduciary duty to the interests of the shareholders) is so incestuous that the chosen few are compensated at a level 200 to 300 times that of the worker who actually deals with the customers on a daily basis or produces the goods sold, the destruction of the middle class seems to be at least the de facto, if not the intended, result.

On top of this unequal treatment, the board then gives the CEO some overly generous golden parachute while reducing the benefits of the workers who either produce the actual goods or deal with the customers on a daily basis. I am all for CEOs receiving good compensation for their time and talent, but the people who produce the goods and/or deal with the customers on a daily basis do at least as much -- if not more -- to keep the business a going concern.

Such stratification of these type of pay ladders is even more puzzling when one considers that repeat customers return to the business not because of whom the CEO is but because some person in the store provided good customer service.

When CEO compensation reaches the level of obscene relative to the pay of the daily worker and CEOs insist on such levels of compensation, greed seems to be the most likely explanation.

Finally, I have no doubt that many such greed-filled/motivated CEOs consider themselves good Christians. However, such greed on their part is completely incompatible with the Bible, especially the life and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

John B, don't waste your time trying to argue with Lee Holmes. When I asked him if he would still argue in support of the type of unreveiwable powers that President George W. Bush has claimed for himself if such powers were being claimed by a president he did not vote for or otherwise support, he refused to answer my question, despite me stating my own position first. I have repeatedly stated that I would not support ANY president claiming such unreviewable powers. Moreover, I voted for President George W. Bush twice, so I don't support those powers for a president for whom I voted. Lee Holmes' refusing to answer my question leads me to form the opinion that he may well be a combination coward-hypocrite. A hypo-coward? A cowa-ocrite? Of course Lee Holmes, you could always prove me wrong by merely answering my question.

Clinton on Gore, GOP with Olbermann

Michael R. Indeed,in the archives of this very blog, you will observe where I made plain that such executive powers in order to maintain American security[[focusing on FISA in that case],would be as acceptable to this poster for a ''Hillary Clinton''[who I mentioned by name],as they would under a GOP president. In your case,it is the perception of a ''hypo-coward''.In mine,it is in dealing with the illiterate, who do not take the time to read what is in plain english before them.

John B. Nonsense. Or must we relive the Lamont-Lieberman race again when the Democrats were out to tack Joes hide to a barn door? Indeed,DINOS are so much in the forefront of liberal Democrat thinking that DAILY KOS produced a hitlist of over thirty Democrat senators and congressmen who were not ''pure''enough to stand against Bush and thus were to be eliminated in the next election. Pass to SCHIP and there is no decrease. It would remain in wage stasis,as it has been for over a decade. Dems are merely gunning for further socialist entitlement for ''the children''when it is not the children who are the majoral beneficiaries of this program,as we have seen.
