I hope whoever gets elected ships all the illegals back to where they came from...I am all for immigration, legally done...let them apply for entry get a green card work visa whatever is necessary and I will be more then happy to roll out the welcome mat, however, these children through no fault of their own are in fear of their parents being taken away, not because of an inconsiderate government but because of their inconsiderate parents...they know what they are doing is illegal (this is why they hide and are afraid to report crimes, etc) and they dont want to be sent back to their country, however, they will sit there waving their country's flag, refusing to learn English, and assimilating to the way of life in the US. Yes immigration criteria is different now then it was for those who came over in the 19th and 20th century...but they are still the rules and should be followed...at least when they are here legally they can contribute their tax dollars to the education and welfare systems, both of which they think they should just be given access to without any contribution at all....This doesnt make me a racist, it makes me concerned with the state of our education systems and welfare systems...if they were here legally they would be factored into budgets etc, and maybe the schools wouldnt be so over burdened

I will happily pay $8/lb for chicken, $5 for a head of lettuce, and $10 for a watermelon if it means employing US citizens at competitive wages and giving them and their families health and other benefits they currently lack. It's America's addiction to cheap stuff that got us into this mess, and I fear it is beyond repair without drastic/harsh measures. The time for a relatively easy fix was back in 1977, not 2007.

The following should be instituted immediately:

1) No illegal alien should be eligible for citizenship - ever.
2) Children born to non-citizens are not granted automatic citizenship - period.
3) Immediate deportation of confirmed illegal aliens without legal restraints. They should not be allowed to take advantage of our legal system.
4) Employers using illegal aliens for cheap labor should be fined $10,000 per employee per day. Don't make it cheaper to pay the fine then fix the problem.
5) FREE Health care should be legally denied to illegal aliens except in immediate life-threatening situations.

Thompson voted against that, joining those who said the requirement would give government too much authority over corporations’ right to hire whomever they please from whatever country.

In 1996, removed higher fines for businesses which hire illegal aliens:
Sen. Thompson, in committee consideration of S.1664 protected businesses from having to pay higher fines when they are caught hiring illegal aliens. Under the idea that current fines were not enough of a deterrent against businesses cutting their labor costs by hiring illegal aliens, the Senate immigration subcommittee approved higher fines.

Tried to kill voluntary pilot programs for workplace verification in 1996:

He was part of a coalition of pro-business conservatives and liberal civil libertarians who tried to use the amendment to kill the establishment of voluntary pilot programs in high-immigration states. It is not in his best interest to send all those farm workers in Crawford back across the boarder to Mexico, they might actually have to 1. pay someone a decent liveable wage with benefits, or 2. (God forbid) Actually do a day or two of real work like the rest of us.

Am glad to note that a lot of people do not agree with the current climate about illegal Immigration in the States. I am a foreign graduate student from Africa who recently completed a graduate degree in Mathematics. I am also gearing to commence my post-graduate studies in Applied Bio-statistics here in a few months. However, what is really deflating to me is that I am incurring huge application fees (so far $2200)to the DHS while I attempt to follow the rules for a changing my status from F-1 (student) Visa to Permanent Resident, and yet I read about all these high rhetoric about how this country cannot do without several million illegals, most of whom work menial jobs, and who also broke the law(s) to be here...and still continue to break the law(s) by working here illegally. And by the way, if you'd wanna know, I've been jobless for the last four months because I am still waiting for approval to take on a job -- any job. God bless the system!!!

I pray for a new america that will always protect religious and civil liberty. I pray homosexuality will not become the norm but seen for what it is - a threat to human existence. I pray that godly men and women will occupy the seat of power not force morility on anyone but rather lead by example that many will follow and diginity would be returned to society through love rather than force. How about this for a simple solution to the 36 million illegals, whom we are subsidizing at $22,000 per year per illegal:
Why is it illegal for an American to find out from the Social Security Administration whether their OWN or their children’s Social Security Number is being used by someone else?

If all Americans could, as a preventive measure, periodically check their SSN, not just after they have discovered their credit has been ruined, they have been stuck with illegals bills, and taxes, and have lost some of their own SS benefits, then:

1. Americans could proactively protect their and their kids' credit and finances from identify theft.
2. Illegals would be quickly discovered, and could be prosecuted and deported by ICE.
3. Most of the alleged mistakes in the SSN database would soon be corrected.
4. There would be far fewer "mismatch" letters for business to deal with.
5. For those SSNs that are fictitious, SSA should be held accountable for advising ICE, again reducing the burden on business.

Why doesn't ICE get the mismatch info from SSA and go to the employers and start arresting the criminals? Because Repubs don't want it. They want cheap taxpayer subsidized labor for dishonest business. DIPs (Democratic Illegal Party, formerly the Democratic Party)are currying favor with Hispanic Americans and want as many hispanics here as possible to bolster their party numbers, a very racist plan.

Watch out for Bush's latest scam. He is revising the visa requirements in order to bring in legal immigrants since his amnesty provision failed. But he is removing the requirements for business to first adverstise and try and find an American or pay American wages.

In other words, he wants to have visa workers work under the same slave wage conditions illegals do, so dishonest business can reap a huge profit, Americans will be put out of work, wages will be depressed and unions busted.
