Social conservatives must wise up and realize that the Republican party's only shot at beating Hillary is to nominate Giuliani. Does anyone really think that Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson has a legitimate chance against her? If these individuals really care about retaining the White House, they will come over to Giuliani's camp. To borrow from Reagan's celebrated refrain, Giuliani is 80 % the friend of conservatives, yet he is moderate enough to challenge Hillary in places like New Jersey, New York, Illinois and California. This is something that no other Republican candidate can do. If social conservatives fail to realize this critical point, this election loss and its repercussions for the party will be laid at their feet.

Someone made a very good point in an earlier thread. If the religious right rejects Rudy and they are supposed to be a powerful voting block, then why does he poll so high? Are they in reality irrelevent?

This is a good line. If he means it, it is what I want to hear from all the candidates. What they believe, not what they think I want them to believe.

Mr Giuliani is on tape denying that he is a conservative after winning Mayor of New York. I agree that there is not much difference bbetween him and another democrat. He did a good job for New York especially after 911. But We need someone completely different than Hillary as President and he is NOT that.

Provision for the individual choice will be honored. Until we are all free to make a choice without regard to who performs the oversite...the possiblity for the extreme example will be enlivened. Keep it in the hands of the professional...we as a nation already perform at the professional level for all parts of the "body", let the "patient" take the call. Giuliani is a liar plain and simple.. first of all he doesn't support gay marriges only civil unions, Second of all he couldn't even sign a pledge to confirm he would lower taxes, which means he won't... His co chair is responsible for calling "Blacks retarted"... Most of his sponsers all have been caught in drug and prostituion scandals... His 9/11 record is totally blotched.. Over 242 firefighters died due to his negligence.. when he was warned about defective radios.. and he didn't do anything, suspended the search at ground zero... He claimed he spend more time then workers, turns out he lied again and only spend 29 hours there........

HE HAS BEEN MARRIED THREE TIMES, ONCE TO HIS SECOND COUSIN... HIS OWN DAUGHTER IS VOTING FOR SOMEONE ELSE

How could anyone in their right mind decide to vote for him...

Rudy just needs to coast along now. Almost in Hillary's position, where he'll have to screw up to blow it. As for the general, anything's possible with the evangelicals.

I think Giuliani would be supported by 'values voters'in a general election because the critical issue for them is judical appointments, and he has stated he would appoint strict constuctionists. Ultimately, it does not matter what he thinks about issues like abortion. What matters is the kind of judges he would appoint.

Giuliani is plain and simple, he,s a New Yorker who believe what,s good for New York is good for the country. N.Y. gave him a position of authority and a big stick and he clean up the street,s. Ok, so he put alot of people in jail and I guess that cost to the taxpaper offset his tax breaks. Isn,t that like the suspreme court giving G.W. the position of Commander and Chief and him saying, go get em boys! Is that Leadership? C,mon that,s not Leadership! If Giuliani had any Leadership ability he would have showed it with the Democrats when he was one. But of course it was those backward Democrats that were the problem not him. Well if your Red or Blue you should be able to lead if your a Leader. Maybe that why he was so successful in Law-enforcement! Not hard to have followers their. He,s a good guy don,t get me wrong he simply is in the wrong job category. He should of jumped into the A.G. job when Gonzo left. I do fear Julie because he is a liberal...he has never made a total commitment to anything; family, friends, city, state, government, and most OBVIOUS TO ALL TO GOD!!! Will average americans also have an OPEN DOOR$$ to the Rudy White House or will we have to dress like KNIGHTS TEMPLARS to receive an audience? Making promises like that will get him less votes in the general election, we are all tired of the American Taliban and their devisive politics. We could come together and solve these problems but the leaders of this block know that if we come to an agreement then they lose their power. It is easier to pretend you want change than to come toogether and make changes.
