With all this talk about how bad the middle class is being beat up, talking about new taxes is not a good idea. Of course, in the Northeast, $100,000 is considered middle class, so they are the one's who would get beat up more.

John Edwards probably is the most electable out of the democrats running. But, between his haircuts and his mansion and saying he is for poor people while the companies that he has his name in are kicking poor people out of their houses, I doubt he will go far in a race.

I finally saw B. Obama's ad that came out yesterday. A lot of the ads sound powerful and are very motivating, but this one had something else. When B. Obama was speaking, I could hear the passion in his voice. I heard somebody who doesn't just want the presidency for the power or the prestige, but to effect true change. It is that passion and determination that sets him apart. Not return to yesterday, but build a better tomorrow.

If Edwards is the most electable, if he does best in head to head match-ups against the Republican candidates, then he should be able to say it without regard to race or gender.

If anyone, it has been Hillary Clinton who has been genderizing this election recently, talking about "us women," etc., etc.

Really, many people are looking at nominating the first woman president or the first black president, and excited about their candidates for that reason. Edwards has every right to point out his own strengths in the general election. Many of us support him on the issues, not on his race or gender.

Hey, people, have you considered why so many American voters are still absolutely opposed to the idea of a woman being elected President? Consider the many many other countries that have elected women and been managed very well: Britain, Germany, Norway, India, Phillipines, Sri Lanka, Liberia, Israel, . . . .. These include Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Jewish-majority countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, the middle East, and Latin America. They also include countries that are members of the U. N. security Council (Britain), rapidly developing (India), surrounded by dangerous neighbors (Israel), rich (Germany), and poor (Liberia). Women leaders have proved their leadership in times of war: Golda Meir (Israel), Margaret Thatcher (Britain) and Indira Gandhi (India).

So where is there any factual basis for fear that a female President of the U. S. would not successfully lead our country in good times or bad, in wartime or in peace, in international affairs or at home, as commanedr-in-chief or as a person worthy of respect??????????? Why are so many Americans still so timid and personally insecure that they will not under any circumstance accept the election of a woman as President.

Why are so many Americans so stupid that they still believe in George Dumbush and his misadministration despite the massive evidence of his incompetence (failure to plan for the post-invasion responsibilities in Iraq), disregard for the truth (Saddam's WMDs as a threat to us), cronyism (Brownie doing great after Katrina hit New Orleams), meanmindedness (outing Valerie Plame), or even his plain inability to articulate a simple idea without making a fool of himself (saying "Childrens is learning . . ."). Can it be that they are fooled by his claim to be one who listens to God? Any moron can claim that - but does it qualify him to be respected as a leader? If so, then religious blindness has infected us an ways that could be fatal. Why not be bold enough to follow the world's lead (come on, even you conservatives who rarely dare to venture out of your tiny little comfort zones) and elect a woman - yes I mean Hillary Clinton - as our next President? I agree with Bee, Obama should not drop Donnie Mcclurkin. I have friends who are gay and go to church. Obama can not let any group show kind of a reverse in tolerance themselves. This does not bring the country together. Instead of complaining about Mcclurkin the gay groups should come to the concert, show their presents, sit with him and talk out the issues. This will heal the nation instead of this back and forth of different groups jockeying for power. Some gays have to know that there are people who go to church who don't gay bash. We believe in love thy neighbor. The real question is are the gay groups complaining going to just demand or get involved and work together for change.

Have you been watching the debates??? It seems to me he has the best plan to get us out of the Iraq WAR responsibly. This war was always about oil we are down there simply protecting our interests right now and will be for a long time. The situation sucks and we have Bush and the last congress to thank for it. None of the Democrats with the exception of Richardson who is a real idiot can committ to leaving.

The best thing we can do until there is a better solution is re-deploy and interject when necessary so the region remains somewhat stable.

Hillary supporter aka "American Voter" you only wish your candidate had accomplished 1/10 of what Sen. Biden's accomplished. I've met all the Democratic candidates except Gravel, and none of them are idiots. While I wouldn't classify any of them as arrogant, if I were to rank candidates from the least to most arrogant candidate Sen. Biden would rank as the least arrogant candidate.

Not only is he not lying to his audiences, he also is not assuming that they are dumb, or that he needs to simplify his speech.

Dangerous? What a joke. How is he dangerous? Was it his failure to vote for declaring 1/3 of Iran's military a terrorist organization? Or was it the fact that he didn't play politics and voted for the war supplemental in May, which provided immediate funding for mine resistant ambush protected vehicles, that provide an 80% reduction in death from an IED (the leading cause of US deaths in Iraq). And saved the lives of four Iowa National Guard last week!

No Sen. Biden's not dangerous, he is the most experienced, intelligent, knowledgeable and honest person running for President in either party.

Why is it clear "American Voter" is a Hillary supporter, because Hillary supporters provide bare superlatives regarding their support for Hillary (she's intelligent, she's a leader...), but when asked to provide facts to support those superlatives, they provide none.

It seems likely that a Hillary supporter, whose probably upset that Sen. Biden has criticized the Iran vote, and said that if Bush goes to war with Iran, all Senators who voted in favor of the measure bear some responsibility, wants to retaliate by bashing Biden. But just as Hillary supporters can't back up their Hillary superlatives with actual facts, they don't have actual facts to back up their criticism of Biden.

Absolutely true. Hillary supporters can only talk about her plans, not her accomplishments. Whenever they are challenged to come up with examples of her leadership all they can point to is plans, speeches, and press releases regarding her positions. What about her Senate career? What has she done? What issues has she expended her political capital on? Defending herself. She constantly needs to be clarified, re-written, explained, and repackaged. If you need a 3 page letter to supporters to explain your position you are in trouble.

Senator Biden does have more experience than Senator Clinton but he and Senator Dodd don't seem to be able to generate any enthusiasm for their campaigns. Of course, they also don't seem to get very much press(TV) time so that could be part of the problem.

This whole front runner issue is, in many ways a self fulfilling and self perpetuating phenomena. The press gives the "supposed" front runners lots of coverage, yet by doing so they are, in a sense, furthering the perception that someone is indeed the front runner. That makes it difficult for candidates like Biden, Dodd, Huckabee, and to a certain extent, Edwards, who might be able to advance in the polls if they were given like coverage. Senator Thompson had only to declare his candidacy and he attracted a significant amout of press, something the other candidates have to work to achieve.

Even in the debates, the "supposed" front runners usually are asked the most questions and are given the most time to respond. The results of polls are broadcast often and they too give the impression that one candidate is far ahead of the others. So the front runner idea snowballs until is accepted as fact.

Not sure that the playing field is completely even.

So the American Dream Act is a scam? Let's examine that statement. According to EducationPlanner.org a person with a bachelor's degree will earn over $560,000 dollars more over a 40 year career than a person with only a high school diploma. Given a 28% tax rate that's nearly $157,000 more that goes into just federal coffers. In addition, a person with a college education is much less likely to commit a crime, generally gives more to charity, is much more likely to participate in the democratic process, and generally will pay many more times what a high school graduate does in property and sales taxes over a lifetime. As a college graduate I personally have already paid back my Pell grants many times over in additional taxes, and I still have 20 years left in my career.

So tell me, how is it a bad thing to produce college graduates that pay much more in taxes, give more to charity, don't commit crimes, and participate in the democratic process?

Any person who would begrudge a child the opportunity for an education is despicable. But then again we're talking about little brown children. God forbid they out-compete you in the workplace.
