Paul also mentions Bill Clinton! By coincidence I was just reading the Will/Clicked blog where Will wondered "how long after Bush's departure Democrats will try to score points with his unpopularity."
I replied, at least as long as the Republicans do so with Bill Clinton and probably double that.

Just watch Ron Paul take off in NH. His biggest problem is noone has heard him yet. Why do you think liberals like Giulliani, Romney, Thompson, McCain are the front runners? Because they had a ton of free media exposure(Giulliani because of 9/11, Romney because of his millions, McCain because of his 2000 run, Thompson because of Law & Order).

Frankly if this race was based on who is a real conservative...it would be down to Ron Paul vs Tancredo vs Hunter. All the rest are RINOs(and yes that includes Huckabee, he may be a social conservative, but he is a horrible fiscal conservative, just go take a swim in a lake he had the state build right next to his house in order to raise it's value)

And if they did hear about him, they most likely were told lies about him...you know, calling him an isolationist when he is a non-interventionist, calling him a liberterian when he's been a Republican for 30 years, not letting him clarify that the reason he wants to close the CIA, is because he believes intelligence gathering should be the job of the army, and that him wanting to abolish the IRS, is not kooky at all, and that doing so will only mean we need to scale back our big government back to Year 2000 levels.

And there is more...frankly if I were to write out all the lies I heard about Ron Paul from the media, it would be a 30 page list.

I would say that Mitt Romney is much more like Ross Perot than Ron Paul is -- both men funded their own campaigns.

Ron Paul and his Campaign workers are doing a great job. Glad to see he is doing some advertising. The grassroots work being done will continue and is growing stronger everyday. I believe the neo-cons are getting scared, just look at Thompson, he is actually mentioning the Constitution in Debates, now that was a first for any of the other Candidates, both Dems and Repubs, with the exception of Ron Paul. He follows the Constitution and I really hope some of the other Candidates will start doing the same.

I saw Ron Paul on Fox News a few mornings ago. The news anchors asked him serious questions about his proposals for abolishing gigantic government establishments like the IRS. I was very impressed with his straightforward answers.
In his own words, he agreed quite readily that it would be insane to expect something like that to happen the moment somebody like him gets elected. But what *would* happen, he explained, would be an immediate change to *any* discussion of taxes, expenditures, the proper role of government, etc. He noted that many in Congress would stop to consider alternatives to our current direction if they saw that many people vote for a candidate like himself. :)

Yes, you're right about the $12M goal being quite lofty. I think it's safe to say though that the campaign's fourth quarter total will exceed the third quarter's.
It will be interesting to see what happenes on November 5th, the day for the one-day proposed en-masse donation to the campaign. Yes, it's a bit gimmicky like the one-day boycott of certain oil companies, but unlike that one, this one will make a unified statement of support.
By the way, to correct a previous post, I believe that Dr. Paul just turned 72. Even if he decides to be a one-term president, we will realize the benefits for years to come - and clean up some of the nastiness in political campaigns - by electing a president who will actually mean it when he pledges to uphold the Constitution.. instead of electing the candidate with the best sound bites and scariest negative campaign ads.

It's all about the message.
I don't care if you consider yourself a Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, libertarian, whatever. As Ron Paul has said "Labels divide us, Liberty unites us." We are all Americans and Ron Paul's message is as American as it gets - Peace, Prosperity and Freedom!
It's gotten so I can't keep up with the grassroots numbers. Last I looked it was over 60,000 volunteers actively working on the campaign, but that number changes every day. This all volunteer, unpaid army has to be worth millions of dollars that are not included in the millions Dr. Paul has already raised.
It's going to start getting really interesting starting next week. Not only will there be TV and radio ads, but Ron will be on the Jay Leno show Tuesday night.
It takes about 6 minutes for the average American to become an RP supporter, so watch his numbers explode after next Tuesday.
The snowball has started down the mountain. There's no stopping it now.

@G. M. Palmer..you do realize the "woohoo" was a lie by redstate? Go read through some of old messages that were discussing Ron Paul. You will see that Ron Paul supporters would reply almost unilaterally with long paragraphs discussing each issue, trying to reason. And in return would get insulted and attacked for being Ron Paul supporters.

Its actually quite the opposite...the anti-Ron Paul people are the ones with 1 word answers...I'm not even going to link you to one specific thread..because this happens in almost every single Ron Paul thread on there. So go check it for yourself.

Example: A Ron Paul supporter would say somethign along the lines of: The Iraq war is bankrupting this nation and destroying our military. And in response you'll get something along the lines of "you broke it you bought it, surrender monkey, traitor, paul bot" etc

So go ahead look, and see that its the anti-paul people that are being rude and annoying.

Actually that brings me up to a good point...all this negativity towards Ron Paul and his supporters solely because of the anti-war position, will destroy the Republican party. I've been a Republican for 20 years, and if Ron Paul is not nominated I'll be supporting a 3rd party candidate...and after this election I'll be switching my affiliation...why? Because the party betrayed my trust, and I do not appreciate being insulted and attacked because of who I support, you think people will fall in line and support another Republican after they get attacked and insulted day in and day out? After their signs on their own property get ripped to shreds? After they get labeled insane by their own party, even though they support the core Republican position? We used to be the anti-war party...WTF happened? How can you be a fiscal conservative, and be willing throw away close to 3 trillion dollars getting bogged down in Middle east?(thats the estimated cost with the next 10 years)

Seriously go reread the GOP mission statement...(its a 10 point "I pledge to..." document on the gop website)...Ron Paul is the only candidate on that stage who is even close to all those values that this whole party was founded on.

Seriously I would think the GOP would be bending over backwards to get this man to win...because he is the only one capable of winning the general election, because he agrees with 75% of the country that is against the Iraq war...AND has a better record on it than any of the leading Democrats. I think Hillary would start to worry too because she can't beat him on the two main issues of this election, Iraq and the economy. It takes a lot more effort to find something wrong with the message RP is sending out, than to bash his policies. His general approach during this campaign is one of love (as we can see in his clever rEVOLution posters). What does love have to do with politics?? Everything, and more.

It was Gandhi who said "Those who believe spirituality has no place in politics do not know the true meaning of spirituality." He was referring to spirituality, and not religion, as a politician's guide for action. Let all one's actions as a politician be motivated by love, and let a politician realize that we are ALL connected (e.g. bombs dropping in Iraq affect educational policy in Nebraska, affects jobs in Florida, etc). This leads to a healthy, unified country that the rest of the world respects and tries to emulate. How 'bout this model as the project for a new American century?

It always surprises me when people think libertarians are crazy. What does that mean about the people who think we're crazy? To me, it means they accept government control rather than having the freedom to do what they want to do. Lefties want control of the economy to redistribute wealth, righties want control of societal norms. Both spend without limits. Neither seem to care that force is required for either or both positions. Since capitalism provides opportunity UNTIL you get politicians granting favors and setting standards and personal liberty provides peace and promotes responsibility and goodwill UNTIL you get politicians legislating their morality upon you, libertarianism is clearly the fairest, most just form of governance. You'll notice I said libertatrianism rather than anarchism. They are not the same, for libertarians accept government having the role of protection of the individual from infringement of rights by others aas well as the defense against aggressors (force and fraud, invasion, etc.)

As for VP, I don't know all that much about Mark Sanford but I've heard his name brought up a lot. Ron Paul's campaign team is small but they are smart. Its just like any story about a smaller opponent against a bigger one. You just need to be flexible and agile, while the bigger opponent is lumbering and slow. A quick look at relief effort is a good analogy. Just wanted to point out that Paul is 72, not 73, and both his parents lived to be 93. All four of his brothers are still alive also (Ron's the middle son). I don't think staying alive 8 more years is a real concern for Ron Paul.

You ought to worry about the other GOPers. McCain, Giuliani, and Thompson have all had or do have cancer.

I voted for Bush twice but then he signed the IMBRA law that forces American men to have background checks in order to say hello to foreign women online. His excuse: "It protects women". Ten years ago, that was a radical feminist point of view. Therefore, I can no longer trust neo-cons who brought this kind of fascism mainstream. There is something called the "Right to Assemble" which does not include government mandated background checks to protect a woman being spoken to by a man.

I was not a Ron Paul supporter until I read his book: A Foreign Policy of Freedom, afterwards I saw no other choice in this campaign but Ron Paul. The collection of speeches on the floor of the House that makes up the book exposed a government that had lost all its ability to reason or use the most basic elements of common-sense. I never dreamed that this country was in the hands of such imbecilic, feckless morons until I read the speeches Ron Paul delivered; it exposed the utter folly that most of our government officials operate under and what it costs this People, this Nation.

I have been around for the elections and administrations of 11 Presidencies; I have watched this country degenerate into a nation like all the rest, with a government like all the rest...only interested in power for power’s sake and the gain of wealth at any cost. It has been driven from being the creditor and breadbasket to the world to being the largest debtor-servant to the world. Our nation has been sold off the to highest bidder, given away without regard to the consequences of our actions and transformed into a military hammer that rivals the war-lust of empires and regimes that crumbled from their excesses.

We have faltered from the path of Liberty, its light dimmed by political intrigue and corruption. The militaristic warmongers have pushed their destructive ideology on the entire political realm of what was once good government, which was once sober in the use of power and respectful of the sovereignty of other nations. After 109 years of interventionism, that has caused untold troubles for this country and this world, it is time to honestly evaluate the consequences of such interventions, both overt and covert. If our foreign policy is not reviewed in terms of all the effects and consequences of that policy then we have no business implementing such policy. Until our government can state with certainty that the likelihood of potential harmful consequences from the implementation of our foreign policy is extremely low then we have no business gambling on such policy. Potential blowback should not be accepted part of the equation within our foreign policy.
Ron Paul appears to be one of those common-sense politicians that gets it, that understands the needs and the potential dangers that we face because we have been reckless in our use of military, economic and covert interventions around the world. It is time for a drastic change in this country, a drastic shake up in every level of government and I believe that Ron Paul is just the man to accomplish that shake up!
