Kucinich doesn't understand that Obama's unwillingness to cut funding when Democrats were a minority was to retain political capital in order to push the issue when Democrats gained the majority, and could actually do something about it. The entire effort of Congress to withdraw our troops over this last year revolved around the exact dates Obama suggested in his January Iraq bill, and that's not a coincidence. Had Obama gone for broke on the issue in 2005, he would not have had the standing to bring people together in the Senate to coalesce behind those timelines; instead, he waited until the American people had spoken, the President had defied that mandate with a troop surge, and the Democrats were in control to have a shot at doing something about it. Timing is everything. The fact that Kucinich doesn't get it is testament to the fact that despite his agenda being more ambitious that Obama's, he would get far less accomplished as President, because far fewer bills would ultimately get through Congress and passed into law.

You have to stand by your principles, but that also means picking your shots. There's no sense in supporting a symbolic statement (which is what opposing funding in the 2005 GOP controlled Senate would have been) at the expense of potentially making real progress in the future.

What does Obama think, because Clinton lifted his line? Probably the same Biden thought when she has taken policys he put out almost a year ago as "her new proposal", or when she stole Richardson's line from the August ABC debate in DM, the "with me you get experience and change", or when she basically copied Edwards health care plan that he released in feb.

What is more important is whether voters will notice that she has no ideas of her own, or any true convictions. Sad, truly sad!

Something about that bothers me, because it often seems that Senator Clinton is running more on her husband's appeal to voters than her own. I think the distinction between who is actually running for President is often intentionally blurred.

I can't put my finger on exactly why that is troublesome to me; if she is elected I am sure President Clinton will be a powerful advisor, and she will be President, but one has to wonder who will be making the final decisions with respect to policy for the US. Will Mrs. Clinton have the title and Former President Clinton have the power? And if that should be the case, is that okay?

Come on Van, do you like sucker punches? I refer you to her vote for Iraq authorization of force resolution in Oct. of 2002, her nay vote on the Levin/Reed Congressional oversight amendment (Oct. 2002) and then to her yea vote for the Lieberman/Kyl amendment of September 2007. The latter, again, showing (a flat learning curve) how Hillary trusts the president to 'prudently' use a Congressional resolution condoning military action to combat the Iranian terrorist organizaiton 'The Iranian Revolutionary Guard'. Of course the problem is how the president's propaganda team might be able to use this resolution to support Darth Vader and the neocons'in their launch of another offensive. And as her campaign staff defended the vote, as a positioning for the general election, I had to wonder about the principles of one who casts votes that determine the life and death of our fighting forces and determine our standing in the world community, based on her political positioning. It's shameful.

And man, I back up my accusations all the time. It's just that you don't pay attention unless someone is debunking the inevitability factor of your sacred aggregate national polls. BTW, Univ of Iowa poll shows Obama only 2 pts. behind Hillary, imagine that! Even though I have to say I am not sure how one can interpret these polls in a caucus state.

Van, everyone knows that you're a smart guy. Explain how you can march against this war and support Hillary's candidacy. Your turn, you back it up. And I'm not buying that it wasn't a well executed war because whether it was successful or not (and it was a doomed venture from the start), it was absolutely immoral from its inception.

Also, as an aside, her not putting anything on the table to fix Social Security until 'we first exhibit some fiscal responsibility' is utter avoidance (more of the same fiscal irresponsibility seen with the present administration).

It is not surprising that you love Susan's comments, as they are harly ever made up of any actual information. It is easy to love comments that simply follow the cookie-cutter pattern of "Go Hillary!", or "Hillary will be the next president so you guys should just get over it."

I would compliment you on something that you are good at, but you have provided less information about your views than Susan has, so I have nothing but assumptions. Maybe the next time a logical Clinton supporter posts something rational that actually provides some reasons for support, you can throw out an "I love you [insert name here]! Keep posting!" Then I will have something to work with.
