Well I am from Chicago and like many Chicagoans still waiting for any reason to validate my vote for Obama. We didn't know much about him before and we elected him -well he was lucky the Republicans in Illinois were in total disarray- and he was elected to represent us there. He pledged to serve his full term and bring "change to Washington,' all we have seen in Illinois is the changes made to his fortune, his wealth and his friends. He is not here to solve the transportation problems we are having, he is silent about all the proposed tax increases in Illinois (by his friends in Springfield and his mentor Major Daley), he was silent for the huge rate energy rates increases by ComEed (big Illinois fundraising for Obama), etc. Where is Obama? Ah, he is promoting his books and promoting him personally. Not wonder his personal wealth has increased 1000% since he went to D.C.

Now, it seems that Obama is now trying to call for attention really. He should not be playing "opportunistic politics" with a serious issue like Iran. Where was he when the critical vote for the initial amendment was need it? He was campaign! A real calculated move to use the vote Against Clinton afterwards. If the issue was so important then as it is for him now, he should be doing his primary job that is to be a Senator for the State of Illinois instead of campaigning to friendly urban crowds, college kids or doing the TV sows celebrity circle (Tyra Banks, Ellen, Oprah or Hollywood mansion’s fundraising). If the issue is so critical for him now, why he didn’t signed the Webb’s letter co-sponsoring two other pieces of legislation reaffirming that Bush cannot use force against Iran without congressional approval. His “Audacity of Hope” is becoming “The Audacity of one Opportunistic, Energetic Totally Unprepared Politician” using big words and “big friends” to become President. Shame! I still waiting for a real example, policy, record that shows me or anyone else why we should vote for him, he doesn’t deserved the trust we people in Illinois put on him to represent us in D.C. all he is doing is running for President since he got elected. We still are waiting in Illinois….we still waiting. Where is Obama?

Most Americans, who did not have the unfortunate experience of living here in NYC with Rudey Rudey-lani as our mayor, need to be educated about what this guy was really about as of 9-10-01. First, he did not clean up NYC as he claims...crime rates were already on the downturn when he first took office. Disney, not Giuliani, is the real reason why NYC is safer, as it bought up properties in Times Square and kicked out all the riff-raff. Also, the economy was already on the upturn and we all know that crime goes down when the economy is booming. Also, Clinton's crime bill passed right after he took office, put thousands of extra cops back on the streets, real beat cops. It's a proven fact that when there is a greater visible police presence, crime goes down. As for taxes, Rudy raised them...in fact, he fought his fellow Republicans and Democrats in Albany who voted away the NYC commuter income tax. For those who don't know, if you work in NYC but don't live there, you had to pay a non-resident income tax...thanks to the Democratically controlled Assembly in NY and the Republican controlled State Senate, we got rid of that tax despite Rudy's support for the tax. Also, despite the 1993 WTC bombing, Rudy caved into political pressure from lobbyists who gave him money and placed the city's Office of Emergency Management in the Twin Towers even though it was a proven target for terrorists. Then, despite being warned about the communication problems between the NYPD and FDNY, Rudy ignored the pleas for better radios that if provided to them, would've save more lives on 9-11. And Rudy didn't save anyone on 9-11...all he did was come out of his hiding place after the smoke cleared and made a bunch of pretty speeches and then went to more Yankees games then time spent at Ground Zero. The true saviors for NYC...the first responders and the current mayor, Bloomberg, and our representatives in Congress [Schumer, Hillary and the House Reps] who fought for federal funding and aid for post 9-11 relief. What did Rudy do? Earn millions making 9-11 speeches and falsely told everyone the air was safe in Lower Manhattan when it was poisonous. Also, Rudy did not work well with others...he never sought consensus with the City Council. He responded with indignant arrogance when racially motivated killings of black people were committed by a number of cops. He is mean-spirited and outright nasty. Anyone supporting this guy for president after knowing these indisputable facts is simply a moron.

Some think Rudy will make a great President? He was a terrible mayor in NYC, is hugely unpopular here, has no experience in national or international affairs, and thus has no credentials to support a candidacy for President. Are we really so stupid that we would elect another incompetent after the last 7 years? No we are not!

Ok. There are the defenders of Hillary in the house today. They say it is a pile on. They say that if the Republicans call her a socialist, the Democrats call her Bush light. That is because they are either speaking of different viewpoints. Healthcare = socialist to Repubs. Government status quo = Bush lite to Obamites. Now you can have both in that context stop playing extremes or over generalizing the debate.

You can also quote what both sides are saying, her position keeps changing. She is a fence straddler. There is no viewpoint when you first listen. Sure we want a good program for say education. But what is her idea? Hold a study to decide what to do. Now that is fine all this studying, but I think you need to know what the problems are by now. You are 60 years old and you have no clue what the problems are? I mean you had a child?

She knows and probably has ideas. She may not be willing to say I am gonna do this, because it sounds like her first healthcare plan where she is only going with her ideas and no one else. But she could say I prefer ideas like "blank" and then say she wishes that leaders on these issues would come and discuss these plans?

What does she do? Flip, flop, or generalize a traditional position. "I want better education for our Children." OK. How? And we the sheep go "Like Bill Clinton did, so shall Hill do." Let us not assume.

If Hillary would just stop changing what she supports based on public opinion of the day, then we would know if she were generally more Bush or more socialist or just plain moderate. But one thing is clear she sure doesn't do so in the national debates.

That is why you can call Obama "naive". He stated an opinion and a plan. Where is everyone else at? Stop trying to get elected candidates and start letting us see your resumes and interview you for the damn job. So far the plans are coming from underdogs and Obama. All those in the lead have NO plans or very few opinions on plans, just rehtoric.

And, by your argument we should have attacked North Korea instead of negotiating with them. Their leader is kind of a nut-job too. Although these issues are important on the political agenda, it appears that we have many more issues which would appear to be of higher priority than arguments presented back and forth concerning Iran. Even with having a daughter in the military which would make this issue near and dear to my heart and stand of great importance, such as those which force persons here at home into impoverished living conditions as the result of a failing Social Security System and the very thing which was set up and designed to make life better for such persons who through no fault of their own are now unable to even afford the most basic rights to food, shelter and other things which all other members of the general population have. I personally would be much more interested in hearing what ALL Presidential Candidates have to say about the consituents here at home who are unable to fight the "mighty system" and come out not necessarily ahead but at least equal to their counterparts in society. Also, there must be a reform that we all must consider in being "our brother's keeper" in such cases. Where do our Presidential Candidates and other political figures stand on the issues that could ultimately make a positive difference on the homefront to enable disabled persons to live a half way normal existence without being forced into depending upon public assistance and other people to support them because the Social Security System has failed them? Many of these people with the support of their Congressional Representatives and local communities have both ability and desire to live a better and more productive life and yet the "system" or "powers that be" will not allow them to do so. What about this tossed aside and forgotten sector of our society?

Mr Guiliani and others involved in the most recent political debates have yet to address the thousands of persons victimized through natural disasters and to whom a terrible injustice was done due to a failure once again on the part of a government agency designed to help in such terrifying times.

This is terribly disappointing when one takes a look back at the very major positive differences which Mr. Guiliani brought about in his home State prior to the new debates at hand.

Mr. Guiliani recognized several years ago that given the right conditions and opportunities, after being screened thoroughly a person can and often does have not only the ability but also the desire to become permanently rehabilitated. Therefore it would appear to fall into place that he would have connections with persons previously convicted of felonies.

It stands without saying that no one wants to live near a convicted felon of a violent crime or a sex offender. However, that did not appear to be the issue at hand when the comment in question was brought out accusing Mr. Guiliani of things as a result of his "connections with convicted felons". It appears that these issues surrounding what Mr. Guiliani has done in the past and is stating he would like to do regardless of his association with various types of people were taken out of context and misconstrued.

In order to make this Great Nation, The United States of America an even better place to live, raise our children and grandchildren into productive, responsible members of society we must realize that each of us has a personal obligation and responsibility to stay informed on the issues on all levels when considering political candidates. We must also learn to stand together as the old saying goes, "United we stand, divided we fall!" I can think of no more appropriate time and place than for the people and citizens of the United States of America regardless of Socio-Economic Status, ethnic background or religion to begin to put petty differences behind us and band together to form a government through exercising our rights to vote and make a difference beginning at home rather than focus on what we can find to criticize and build mountains out of molehills from.

almost every entry today is about ceo [clin.,edwards.&obama] and now what rudy says. the clear winner for the amount of questions was biden at the debate and the experience in foreign policy and solutions for iraq are bidens. its no accident that rudy is focusing one ceo and not biden as he clearly got burned by joe at the debate. also note most of demos cite joe on foreign positions in relation to war on terror. why do we focus on people who chime his positions and not the man himself? biden had the most direct,analytical, and straight answers in the debate for the little exposure he got and he's relegated to second tier.vote on policy not on minority status whether its gender or race. joe is a minority in this campaign, he doesn't waffle to the polls, he speaks straight, doesn't dodge questions, and has experience, pick me another candidate with that combination. as for the racist b.s. the naacp has rated him high for his record so nitpicking his speeches out of context to his voting record is itself b.s biden in 08 is the best we can be.

Rudy's so transparent I can't believe he's gotten this far. When your own family member joins an opponent's campaign, what does that say about you? How's he going to run a country and he can't even run his family, let alone a marriage. And you've seen what the NYC firefighters have to say about him. I'd rather vote for Don King.

And Hillary, with as smooth and as smart as she is, doesn't want to identify her true positions because she knows that when she does she'll give her opponents plenty of ammunition against her, and she can't handle the pressure, as she showed in the last debate. After watching the banned trailer "Hillary Uncensored" on Google video, how could anyone take her "change" rhetoric seriously. Had she tried out for "The Apprentice" (before it was canceled), Trump would have FIRED her primarily for poor judgement and also for her inability to defend herself.

The only reasons she's a front-runner is 1) the novelty factor of her being female 2) connections with key media people and corporate sponsors and 3) her relationship and association with Bill Clinton (who WOULD win if he COULD run again.

If she were a man, she wouldn't have gotten this far, but watch her use the "female" card more often to get the "boys" to back off. Shameless....

Pete, the reason your traffic problems are so bad still is not Obama's fault. You should be blaming the stupid governor you elected into office for a second term who doesn't even live in Springfield. No, intead, he spends $6,000 PER DAY to fly from Chicago to Sprinfield. That's $2,190,000 over the entire year (true, thats including weekends). Think about what that much money could do for your roads.

Obama is the only candidate (with the possible exception of edwards) who is going to really bring change to this entire country. Clinton has not defined where she stands on almost any issue. Most people say that she will bring national health care to the US, but she has only pledged to AFTER he first term. She doesn't pledge to leave Iraq, and most of the general public doesn't know this. Obama must be president if we want this country to move forward.

PJ: The only ones acting hysterically are the ones who believe that we are going to attack Iran next week or soon thereafter. The Washington Post and Associated Press told us two things,one that we already knew,and one that we didn't. To begin with,the revelation that the US intelligence community knew that Iran was garnering the neccesary componants for a nuclear weapon from the AQ Khan network as early as 2000.[Although the Center for Non-proliferation Studies based in Monteray,Ca; observes that the Russians were giving Iranian scientists research materials in nuclear fission and advanced missle technology even before this,around 1998-1999].
The other,reported on yesterday by the two media sources,is that the flow of Iranian arms[especially the QUDS Force SHAPE charge] and personnel into Iraq has suddenly diminished or in some areas,stopped entirely. Every indication shows that this was a policy move by the Iranians at as a yet unknown high level in its government. Attacks all across Iraq have dropped dramatically as a result especially in the Shia southeast portion of the country and along the northeastern border with Iran.
There remains little doubt that this move is in response to the designation of the IRG as a terrorist entity,which could invite cross-border attacks by the US. If so,Bushs ''cowboy diplomacy''is beginning to bear fruit. Price per-bbl oil has stopped its upwards climb and is holding at 96$ per bbl,at roughly the same price it was in May-June before it began to recede. If these are feelers being put out by the Iranians,the administration would do well to encourage further diplomatic moves backed by overwhelming force,particularly in its air assets,Iran, knowing fully well how in a quick fifteen minutes,Syrias nascent nuke program was turned into rubble by IDF strike aircraft.
The worry in Europe is the same as that lodged with American conservatives,namely that Iran is moving towards its bomb with all that this will entail. In order to counter this threat and forestall a Bush-initiated attack on Iran,the UK GUARDIAN and Germanys DER SPIEGAL advocate a plan that has not yet been tried by the EU with any measure of success.
As it happens,the two European nations most benefiting the nation that has declared a ''wiping out''of the Jews are the two former Axis partners of the Second World War,Germany and Italy,who engage in trade compacts with the Iranians worth hundreds of billions per year. Frances Sarkozy raises a lucid point. ''You do not wish a US war against Iran,seeing this as a catastrophe,and you do not want a nuclear armed Iran,but you continue to trade with this nation in a manner that it is not feeling any consequence for its actions'',a position that has arrayed France and Great Britain against Germany and Italy in an old parallel.
Obama would do well to remember that diplomacy also calls for the tough expedient of trade sanctions universally applied. He should quit whining about the Kerliks of the world[we will recall that Obama was mixed up with shady characters of his own from his Chicago days and no-one is holding this against him],and forcefully suggest that the Euros get on board as a united front to push Iran towards disarmament,open and free inspections by the IAEA[which is not occurring],and meetings between the Iranian,European and US representatives in a Geneva or Brussels setting.

Yeah he was there for 9/11, but he did nothing to help, go to therealrudy.org and see for yourself, the firefighters are outraged by him and his mention of them...He never cared about them before 9/11 and after, yeah he went to funerals but if he had given them radio's that worked their wouuldn't have been as many deaths. Jim from New York....Are you serious about your comments about the victims of WWII in the Holocast and 9/11? Are going to stand there and insist that Obama much less Clinton deny such things happened? My friend, perhaps it is you who is in denial and should seek medical help or at least read a book or two. Neither canidate is denying the events of 9/11 nor the need to respond. What Obama, unlike Clinton, has said all along is that we went after the wrong people in the wrong country which has lead to results that he long predicted before the invasion and illegal occupation of Iraq.

As far as "America's mayor", he has continued use the platform of 9/11 as if he single handedly pushed back the terrorist who attacked his city not once but twice. After the first attack it has been document that he failed to install an effect emergency plan for response to the terrorist attacks which became evident after 9/11. Each and everytime he claims credit for recovery of the city of New York I cringe because I know people from New York and I can say that no matter what happens to that city, the people not the mayor, will make sure that they don't go down without a fight. It is a testiment to the character of the people of that city as well as this country.

You say vote for someone because of logic and experience, well let me put this to you...Obama comes from one of the toughest political arenas in the country, Illinos. People often forget the orginal as well as the largest politcal machine was based out of Chicago with the late Mayor Daly who ran that town as well as the state with an iron fist. To come out of that state with such a tough political machine and still remain morally direct and politically strong is a testiment to his logic and experience. As far as track record...Guilliani does get credit for changing New York but along with that credit he needs to accept the blame of runaway illegal immigrants and political corruption within his own administration one of who is currently under federal investigation for rackateering as well as ties to organized crime. Experience...I will take the man who is willing to stand on the side of right alone than one who has tied themselves to an administration who has lied and scandalized the office of the president for the last 6+ years.

People keep missing the whole thing! When you judge candidates you must not ever percieve attacks between them else you judgement will be marred by such inappropriate creterion. Judge them on substance! Do not say that because in a debate when Obama mention a point against Hillary then somehow it means that it is personal attack. It is not! A debate ain't a rally. You debate because your aim is to look for solution, or present your solution, and give the other the opportunity to agree or disagree, but there must a good result at the end. So Obama's critism does not presuppose that he view Hillary as higher than her. That is why he said," Hillary is not the first candidate to declare victory to soon." The comments from media folks always messes up things for voters in that their insight into words is not too wise, and such lack of neutrality in reporting is bad. I hear a lot of that in CNN and MSNBC. You cannot really know a man's mind unless you are that man, so the comments by analysts whether political or not often destroy issues before american hear them, let alone the headlines on newspapers. It is because they are in it for the money, without understanding that the same thing that they are involved in is VERY IMPORTANT for American to be too monetarised, or marketed as evilly as they do. If you mess up Obama's image like FOX, do you realise that it ain't about Obama but about America! What if he was the next best thing to America and you messed up his message by yourself unwise, devoid of understanding, uninformed, and visionless comments. Your words are important. Clarifying that the use of force against Iran is not authorized by the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq, any resolution previously adopted, or any other provision of law.

Whereas the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq (Public Law 107-243) authorized the President `to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to--(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and (2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq';

Whereas, on September 26, 2007, the Senate agreed to a provision, Senate Amendment 3017 to Senate Amendment 2011 to H.R. 1585, stating the sense of the Senate that `the manner in which the United States transitions and structures its military presence in Iraq will have critical long-term consequences for the future of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, in particular with regard to the capability of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to pose a threat to the security of the region';

Whereas, on September 26, 2007, the Senate also stated the sense of the Senate `that it is a critical national interest of the United States to prevent the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran from turning Shi'a militia extremists in Iraq into a Hezbollah-like force that could serve its interests inside Iraq';

Whereas, on October 25, 2007, the Department of State designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) as proliferators of weapons of mass destruction under Executive Order 13382 in relation to concerns about their role in proliferation activities;

Whereas, on October 25, 2007, the Department of the Treasury also designated 9 IRGC-affiliated entities and 5 IRGC-affiliated individuals, as derivatives of the IRGC, as well as Iran's state-owned Bank Melli and Bank Mellat and 3 individuals affiliated with Iran's Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), as proliferators of weapons of mass destruction or supporters of terrorism under Executive Order 13382;

Whereas, on October 25, 2007, the Department of the Treasury also designated the IRGC-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) as a supporter of terrorism for providing material support to the Taliban and other terrorist organizations, and designated Iran's state-owned Bank Saderat as a terrorist financier, under Executive Order 13224; and

Whereas any offensive military action taken by the United States against Iran must be explicitly authorized by Congress: Now, therefore, be it

Sometimes I wonder why we should waste time going to the polls as our votes do not determine who becomes president of America. Why spend so much money and time yet in the end let such a vital decision in the hands of the college, just a few individuals. Gore won the public vote but lost the presidency because the justices appointed by his father had the last words. The question of electability is trash. No American candidate should be said to be not electable. That is intertaining racial descrimination.
That determination must be left to the voters.
