You clearly have no understanding of campaign donation restrictions. The Federal Government, through the FEC, restricts people to giving, at most, $2300 per person per campaign. That means the MINIMUM number of people that have given to Ron Paul, SO FAR TODAY ALONE, is around 1,050.

That's a false figure, though. Last quarter, Ron Paul's average contribution was $40, nowhere near the $2300 maximum. With that figure, Ron Paul may have as many as 60,000 people donating to him SO FAR TODAY.

That is significant.

That's ok... they've got a data feed that lets you know how many donors there are and the total number of donors is at www.ronpaulgraphs.com. The total number of donors for today is at 22,000 so far and it is only 5pm eastern time. Only 18,000 pledged to donate at thisnovember5th.com and we're already well past that mark. The average donation for the day is between $120 and $130 indicating that this is real support. It's not just 6 people working really hard at a computer and it's not just 6 computers spamming a lot of e-mail. Computers don't donate money.

You can also see individual contributor names appear every few seconds. Finally, if you are a hard core "doubting Thomas", then go to the FEC's website and take a look at the fundrasing statistics, where you can literally look up the name of every single person who has contributed to any campaign. (You won't see today's numbers, as they are recorded as of the end of Q3 2007).

I'm another real person who pledged money to Ron Paul (something I never thought I'd do; and I am a Democrat on top of that). And to those who believe that his apparent support is being "rigged", please just read what the man has to say, and give it some thought without prejudice. For most of us, this is not a cult following -- we are just beyond desperate for other Americans to be open to ideas, however unpleasant they may be, to think for themselves, to always question themselves and others, to respect even those who disagree with them! That's a huge part of the message of "freedom", and we want a president who can set an example for these qualities!

This is what this support is about. Many of us disagree with Paul on many significant issues, and we won't just follow him blindly if he does get elected. But what binds us is not some kind of lunacy, but rather the understanding that the current problems facing this nation transcend the usual issues, and therefore transcend party lines. Ron Paul has given many of us hope that it is possible for this nation to have a serious dialogue, instead of always painting the other side as the devil, and shouting past each other.

The most powerful statement that I took out of his campaign so far is that the real strength of a president is not in how aggressive he is in foreign policy, but to what extent is he able to withstand the corrupting effects of power, and instead allow the representatives of the people to determine the course of the nation.

I would also encourage other posters to take some time to explain what brought them to Ron Paul's campaign (and to do so in a manner that reflects Paul's respectful and intellectually honest approach).

This is amazing to watch and be a part of. Blown through the Q3 totals already, and closing in on blowing past the Q2 totals TODAY ONLY! In other words, the same amount as Q3 in 1/3 the time, and the same amount as Q2 totals in 1/91 the time. You sure won't see those other candidates claim that level of growth, support, or enthusiasm!

What's amazing is that a man with this much support from ordinary Americans is still being dismissed. Makes me feel dismissed as a voter.

To address your initial confusion about whether today's donations are from 1 person or 100,000 please read the following:
"A person can donate no more than $2300 dollars to one candidate. At the very minimum we have 1300 donors but I highly doubt the average person has given $2300 dollars to the campaign. I think a fair assumption is $100 which would be in the neighborhood of 30,000 people in one day at this point. Remember there is still more than 8 hours left in the day."

Also, if a lot of positive comments (and cash donations) regarding Ron Paul is considered SPAM, then you also have to consider that all the neo-con support on Fox, CNN, etc. is also SPAM. It's just spam from the 'OLD school'.

There are a lot of people here who seem to assume that Ron Paul would be working in a vacuum if elected President. He more likely would be working with a Democrat controlled congress and more than a small number of Republican congressmen and women who just aren't on the same page with many of his positions.

Aside from that, there is a precedent for this. His name was Howard Dean.

It is nice to see the excitement it's generating. It also has Democrats postitively drooling for a third party run that will put their candidate in office with 43% of the popular vote, just like 1992.

This is a grassroots effort to raise money for Ron Paul's candidacy which his campaign was unaffiliated. The average contribution is $40 with well over 20,000 contributors. No candidate in history has had a higher one-day total - this is a record. Does it not make you a bit suspicious why the main stream media censors him? Have you not watched the televised debates and noticed that he gets far less air time as the other candidates? Sorry... just a little frustrated that others cannot see that the mainstream media of today is little more than a government mouthpiece and propaganda machine. The November 5th 'money bomb' reached over 4.2 million dollars and was contributed by over 30,000 different people. The 'money bomb' was organized through the efforts of grassroots and individual supporters. Ron Paul only started mentioning it a few days beforehand and doing so in passing. His campaign did not organize it.

Manstream media outlets are either severly underinformed about what is going on in politics or in denial. If they had made any mention of the 'money bomb' in days leading up to 11/5 or early on the day of November 5th Ron Paul may have raised substantially more. Ist of all this story talks about raising 2.4 million in one day, when in actuality it was over 4.2 million. Maybe MSNBC made a mistake or matbe they did it on purpose, either way they need to correct it.
