I think the democrats basically decided that there are bigger fish to fry. the movement to impeach would've been useful 3-5 years ago, but not now. It takes a really long time for the entire process to take place and by the time anyone is actually out of office, thier term will be almost up anyway and another administration will likely have been elected already. Whats the point of impeaching a lame duck ? There isnt much damage that Bush and co. can do that they havent already done and the dems have the majority in congress now so its kinda like, whats the point? Better to focus on more important stuff.

The Republicans want this to go to debate because they know the democrats would have to vote against it. Anyone who votes for it will be hammered come their election year. If you noticed the Republicans tried to put it out on the floor, but the Democratic majority leader wanted it off the floor. The measure would never pass, all the Republicans would vote against the impeachment and a good majority of the democrats too. Only the radical lefts would vote for it. With the Democrats voting for it, you have double talk that the Reps would use against them in election year. It's a full win-win for the Reps and no way to salvage it for the Demo's best they tuck tail and run.

Conyers will cave. Pelosi is calling the shots, and she's about as spineless as they come. If you want this thing impeachment thing to go anywhere, you need to pressure Conyers and your representative to take this thing seriously. From the outside of the USA, it is quite obvious that the current political system in the US is based on 'for the corporations', not 'for the people' as the US constitution suggests.

Kuchinich is a weak man, because he actually believes in the people and the US constitution, and points out how the US system now is totally flawed.

There is no doubt in anyones mind anywhere in the world (except for a few people perhaps in the USA) that Cheney is a war criminal and would be incarcerated if tried as such.

Kuchinich is right in trying to impeach him - he is only trying to uphold values that most Americans used to believe in.

But he is unfortunately a weak man, and can not succeed against the military-industrial complex that the USA has become.

As the world watches the US$ slide into oblivion, its a shame to see such a once-great nation collapse under its own corporate and military greed.

Sending it to the Judiciary Committee means it's dead? That's right where it belongs for further action.

This should have been a huge story. For the drama alone. A congressman and presidential candidate brings articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney, who has obviously committed more crimes than any vice president in history. His own party tries to kill it. The opposing party tried to debate it. Finally it goes to committee. Obviously big media has been told to ignore this.
