From NBC/NJ's Mike MemoliNASHUA, NH -- Ron Paul talked about money at a local high school this morning. No, not his record one-day fundraising haul, but the impact of a weakening U.S. dollar.

The goal is to blanket the country with signs and also to raise the most amount of money ever raised for a presidential candidate in a single day. This will be the money Dr. Paul needs to make his last big media blitz before the primaries. The momentum from this new sign/money bomb will give him the push to win in New Hampshire and Iowa. Spread the word, if you dont have money then try to find two or three other people who havent donated yet and each of you give $10 dollars. If you dont have even that amount then print and cut out a bunch of little card size pieces of paper and spread them around your city, in book stores, grocery sotres, colleges etc... We have all done a lot already but we know that we can all do more.

Paul talks money, war in NH

Funny how he's been giving this (essentially) same speech for years, but now people are listening and reporters writing about it. This, of all days, on the day that the DOW fell 360 points due largely to concerns over the falling price of the dollar.

Paul talks money, war in NH

Why is no one else talking about these issues? If he wins the election, it will show the Congress that if they want to hold their seats they had better recognize what the people want. If Ron Paul can balance the budget, redeploy our troops to our soil, and eliminate a few duplicitous agencies, we could afford to eliminate the IRS. I think that is very important to him, so I believe he will try to do just that. He does know how DC works and he will be able to do many good things, including using the bully pulpit of the presidency to spread to everyone the ideas of cutting spending, etc leading to the end of the income tax, and thus the IRS. Have faith, brother. He is a manof his word. His record shows that.

MK, in Missouri: You could register as a Republican and vote for Ron Paul in your primary. If Hillary is going to be a sure thing on the Dem side (looking more likely every day) Ron Paul might be our only hope in which case he still needs to win the GOP nomination. If changing your registration to Rep turns your stomach like it did mine, just remember the cause and vote for the man, not the party. WHy do you want the USA to go on the gold standard, as opposed to, say, the tulip standard, or the silicon standard?"

It doesn't matter which hard asset you use to back the currency, as long as it's a hard asset. This prevents government from printing money to pay its expenses (once it has taxed & borrowed all it can). When the Fed inflates the money supply (as it does constantly), demand for each individual dollar drops--therefore, each dollar IN YOUR POCKET or IN YOUR BANK is worth less and less. This has been going on throughout the 20th century, since the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank.

Fiat money, aka print-on-demand money, allows government to grow itself by sucking wealth right out of your pocket.

If each dollar is backed up by a hard asset, like gold, then government must spend within its means--and the money of every individual retains its value. Gold is simply the metal that people have used for thousands of years as currency, so its natural to use that.

Ron Paul calls inflation "the most regressive tax." It hurts the poor and the middle class, but enhances the ultra-rich because the money goes to huge government contracts, etc. (And then, of course, is recycled into congressional and presidential campaigns for lobbyist-friendly candidates.)

Learn more at http://www.mises.org/money.asp
Paul talks money, war in NH

I'm guessing the Good Doctor's message has already had a healthy effect on many of his Congressional colleagues. As many will tell you, there is a bias against him out there in MSM (main stream media). The biggest reason, however, is his unnaturally low poll results (5%). These polls are not corrupt, but they are behind the times and behind technology and therefore inacurate. There are two problems with them.

1. They are "land line" polls. How many of you guys own landlines. Traditional families own landlines, and thus Ron Paul's tech savy supporters go unheard. Seems insignificant but it could put him a couple % points higher.

2. People who traditionally vote republican in the primaries/ voted last election are the ones who are called on these polls. We all know how much the republican base has shrunk, many of those people who switched out are switching back to vote for Paul, not to mention libertarians, constitutionalists, independants, unregistered, and democrats, who are switching over, and those who arent switching but will vote in open primaries. Even if this only brought him all together 10% higher than it says he is (where he naturally deserves to be) that would be enough for MSM to notice him and cover him more, creating a fair amount more name recognition and therefore even more support. I hope this rant makes some sense.

Paul talks money, war in NH

If he's nominated by the Republican party I will vote for him. The checks and balances inherent in the constitution, and to which he would most certainly adhere, would prevent carte blanche on his part. But if you think Democrats have been hard on Bush, imagine what they would do to Paul once they found out how conservative he really is. There isn't much "nuance" there.

A Paul presidency would be as interesting as any other, I suppose.

I do have a problem when a candidate demagogues the gasoline price issue as if it is something Americans have to deal with all by themselves. Gasoline is expensive everywhere, even in green Europe. What the U.S. economy and government have solely to do with that I have yet to understand.

Paul talks money, war in NH

Wow! He is awakening the sleeping giant, the American public. His supporters are everywhere and come from all walks of life. I have voted republican for every election since 1982 ( may God forgive me for voting for GWB ) and was ready to defect this year to a third party till I discovered Dr. Paul. He is right on the money on so many issues. Americans unite, America is ill and the good Dr. is our perscription.
I liken the middle east to a hornets nest, walk by it and they won't bother you, but our foreign policy has been to smack it with a stick and see what happens, when they settle down smack it again and again, eventually we will get stung, then we want to blame the hornets.
Two weeks ago I told my wife if the Federal Reserve lowers rates again, The dollar will plummet more, Oil will top $100 / barrel, Wall Street was happy but Main Street feels the pain. If I could see what would happen why can't any of our elected representatives. Dr. Paul could see it.
We should be ashamed of our selves for allowing this runaway government to mortgage our children's futures with mountains of debts, committing unborn generations to a war with no end and enemy, and allowing the liberties and freedoms our founders so thoughtfully gave us to be so easily taken under the guise of security.
Remember, Remember the 5th of November. spread the word about the good Dr. This is our revolution and our children will not forgive us if we don't act like good Americans. It would be fun and interesting.

Paul talks money, war in NH

The gold standard merely means a currency that doesn't fluctuate in value like an ice cream cone. Their goal is to get 10,000 people to pledge to donate $100. So far there are 1,177 pledges. Please repost his bulletin. I know we just raised $4.3 million on Monday, and the wallets and pockets maybe empty, but consider it an investment in your future. If elected, Ron Paul will shut down the IRS and Federal Reserve. This will help us keep 100% of the fruits of our labor! NO MORE ILLEGAL APPLICATION OF THE FEDERAL INCOME TAX! $100 today gets you back your whole pay check when Ron Paul becomes elected President of these United States of America in 2008! But first we must get him the nomination. To do that we need to raise more money so he can get his name out there and buy ad time! Think of how much publicity the money bomb of November the 5th has gotten him? Now imagine another day where he gets another million not even a week later. This is our only hope to take our country back from big government! Let seize the moment and make this happen just as we did on Monday! Ron Paul believes in us and our country lets repay that back!
Here is the link to the official pledge site for the November 11th drive:

http://www.thisnovember11th.com/

P.S. Paul is a Constitutionist, a true Republican. A Ron Paul Presidency would encourage the original Constitution's balance of power, eliminating the seemingly absolute power of the Executive branch.

Ron Paul would immediately remove our military from Iraq and other non-essential areas of the world. Saving lives is paramount. Please see the following website? http://projects.washingtonpost.com/fallen/

Then he would begin the process of trimming the unconstitutional federal government departments. Such military and departmental streamlining would reduce the federal budget immensely. These combined savings would be a serious beginning to paying down the enormous federal debt we owe to Japan, China, and several other nations. The benefits of paying down the debt are clear; the dollar value would be increased making it more competitive with the euro and our children and grandchildren will not be strapped with debt.

By streamlining the Federal Government the collected funds will also be used to pay back the borrowed Social Security funds. Those who voted in it are staunch Bush supporters and war Hawks.

All the "Scientific Polls" are ONLY contacting that very low percentage of Die hard Bush supporters and war hawks.

They are a fring element and do not represent the Republican party as a whole. These polls are not "scientific" and in fact are SERIOUSLY FLAWED because they represent a very small group of hawkish staunch bush supporters and not the average Joe Republican, not to mention the droves of moderate democrats and independents who have registered to vote for Ron PAul in the Primaries.

RON PAUL CAN WIN THE NOMINATION!!

Ron Paul has won 17 straw polls and every single online poll!!!

Paul talks money, war in NH

I try to stay out of this stuff by being a Non-Partisan but am going in Monday and changing for the Nevada Primary to Republican, just because I really feel this man has more to give to our country; the others seem to want to take. It, like gold, is a finite resource and gold, like oil, will also experience a similar peak. Dollar depreciation, regional instabilities, etc. are all exacerbating side issues. So, it is highly consequential that India and China are adopting American consumer culture and its companion, profligate oil consumption.

Unfortunately, economists have been dominating the discussion; they preach as though they had all the expertise in the matter. Giuliani is just another crazy war with Iran guy who is obviously a pea brain. Romney is just another slick politician with canned answers and not real passion for anything but power. McCain is worthless for this state and has no real understanding of the Constitution.
