What kind of idiotic unqualified statement was that? Romney has listed many problems with our country - and solutions to those problems. He's methodical and actually knows how to execute a strategy. He is very successful for a reason - a proven leader.

Since I nailed you for dishing out an unqualified statement, here's some qualification for mine.

Health Care - Romney is the only candidate on either side that has actually implemented anything on health care reform - but he knows that what he did in Mass will not work as a nationwide plan - so he has made a separate plan for the feds that makes sense.

Education - Just recently, Romney said we need to ensure that teachers are treated as professionals and paid according to their performance. Something many of us have agreed with for years, but he will actually work to make it happen.

Family - Romney recently discussed the problem we have with too many children in foster care, etc. He wants to make the adoption tax exemption permanent, because it is set to expire.

Economy - Romney wants to kill capital gains taxes for people making under 200k per year. This will allow those of us in the lower and middle class to actually save money - without penalty. Then we can put it down on a car, house, or anything we want. We can retire early - whatever we choose - without penalties.

Do your homework. Bashing Romney with unqualified only makes me believe you must just "not like" him as I have heard from others. Most of those people just don't like him because he's Mormon - it's sad when people reject someone with a PERFECT resume just because of his faith. Especially when you consider the amazing people that make up the Mormon community.

By the way, my list is not exhaustive. Comments like "that's all?" will be ignored. If you really want to be an informed voter, research every candidate with an open mind. That's what I did. And I like Romney.

I don't think the American people or the media fully understand this country is at war. This war is as real as real can get. A war started by a sitting United States President. In 2006 the Democrats took claim there party will end the war. The debate hosted by Tim Russert asked the question " Will you have the troops out by 2013?". Hillary, Obama and Edwards replied with the answer "NO". This reponse will continue the body bags coming home intill 2013 and beyond. This war is a great big castle with four towers at each corner tower 1 is Iran 2 is Syria 3 is Pakistan 4 is Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The strategy was to put our military right smack in the middle of two court yards without secure borders the same dumb move has done in Vietnam. I guess we just have to face the fact america cant secure borders.

Do you like conspiracy theories? For fun try this one. The rich and powerful few, who the Bush administration has consistently catered to and who simply control so much, including having influence over the media (as is literally demonstrated), really don’t worry about whether it is Giuliani or Clinton as they have actually bought into both (likely Thompson and maybe others too). And the theory continues that right now they are simply trying to convince the voters that Giuliani and Clinton are the only real choices, while knowing that either is okay for them. Then the question is, ‘can they pull it off again or not?’

It may not be easy to buy into that thinking but just for fun play with it. Do a ‘what if’? Does it answer any questions? Is it feasible? Are there connections that substantiate it? Could they accomplish that? Does it really look like that is what is happening? Whatever, but isn’t what is really important simply that the voters actually have the control and the options? Do you think they actually do? Or… are they being manipulated and used again?

Maybe we don’t like thinking like that and don’t want to give in to that logic, to admit that Special Interests and a select few could have that much control, possibly then we should just ask four questions:
1. Why else has the Bush administration consistently done everything to benefit those Special Interests and a select few, arrogantly offering subterfuge and deception to cover, at significant cost to America and the average American?
2. How else has all of that transpired with minimal criticism and no real effort to hold anyone accountable?
3. What else explains all that has transpired, what is transpiring and the direction everything is taking?
4. Whose country is it; who really has control?

Healthcare-passed by the MA legislature but was Romney even in the State when this was being passed or did he just propose, leave and the return to sign the bill? Why not nationalized healthcare that is administered by health insurance companies?

Education- teachers should be treated as professionals and paid for performance. If the teacher is in the inner city and has classes of malcontents that do not wish to learn, is that their fault and there would be no raise? Mayb they should all be paid like CEO of large corporations, lose money, poor performance and still be paid millions. The pay for performance is a scam.

Family-the adoption tax should only be if the child aopted is American, not someone from the Ukraine or China.

Economy-kill the capital gains for people earning under 200k/year. Another scam for the well to do. How many people earning under 40k/year can buy and sell stocks? Let's raise that to 70k and ask the same question. A family of four earning 70k is just getting by do you take into account income tax, health insurance, mortgage, car payment(s), car insurance, food, gasoline, etc.

I'm not bashing Romney because he is Mormon as I have has nothing but positive experiences with Mormons. I am questioning Romney on who is he really helping and it isn't the the remnants of the middle class.

Health Care - Are you actually saying that Romney was out of town for the entire healthcare reform in Mass? You implied it, but you are wrong. He was instrumental in this effort. Nobody denies this, even Ted. No lies, please.

Education - Romney is not suggesting that we pay for the performance of children. Have you looked at his proposal? No, you have not. As I said, educate yourseves, people. In your scenario, teachers taking the jobs nobody wants would actually get paid for that inconvenience, just like U.S. Customs people make more in Alaska because nobody wants to live there. It just makes sense.

Family - Adoption credits for U.S. kids only makes sense - I totally agree with you on that one.

Economy - The value of money changes wherever you go. Where I live, in the Bay Area, buying a condo is out of reach unless you make 100k per year. Buying a 3 bedroom house in a safe neighborhood is unattainable unless you make 150k. For example, a house that I stopped to look at (with hope) about mile from where I am sitting is average, and it is on the market for $917,000. My brother who is in Mobile, Alabama is looking at houses that cost $80,000 and have twice the square footage. He can afford it, and makes less than $50k per year. The disparity is huge. So think again when you consider us "rich" people over here. We can't afford to do squat, even if we do make twice as much as you.

At least Romney is not trying to help the super-rich. This proposal has no bottom end, and it has a top-end. Don't you think that's admirable? Especially for republican?

Bottom line - Romney is smart, knows how to run just about anything, and he gives a crap about people.

It is one thing to vote for the lesser evil, but to endorse evil is unconscionable. And unless you think my only concern is Guiliani's complete lack of character, Guiliani's anti-terrorism stance is nothing more than harsh language and empty threats. Bush is losing in Afghanistan and supporting dictatorship in Pakistan because he does not support our troops in the line of fire. We do not need more of the same.

Romney is the Man!!! There is something, dignified, honest and powerful about him. I don't care what his religion is, except that he is non-wavering in it. Being that his religion is the only thing hindering him in reality you'd think being the "flip flopper" that he allegedly is he'd have flopped on that a long time ago. The day he casts it aside for political gain is the day he loses my vote.
I believe it was the Boston Globe that did an amazingly unbiased 8 part series on his Romney's. His life speaks volumes of his character and abilities to do what he says he will do, and his commitment to serve his fellowman. I guarantee that he has given more of his time and talents (not to mention money) without compensation or even expectations of compensations than any other candidate from either party.

I was once a Mormon basher, believed my preacher when as a youth he told me the Mormons were an evil cult. Something didn't ring true to me. I knew too many really good people that were Mormon. Because I am open minded and have a brain and try to be honest with myself and others, I took the time to learned what Mormons in fact believe. Mormons are not perfect people, but if you took the time to learn what it is they really believe in for yourself you would promptly shut your ignorant mouth and stop bearing false witness against your brother. Correct me if I am wrong, but last time I checked that was still one of the Ten Commandments.

I am currently reading a book about the Taliban and the book talks about how the Taliban started and the book talks about the Talibans ideas the same way the far right ideas are in the US. In the book it talks about that the Taliban says they took over Afganistan in the name of God and it says the Taliban cliams that Afganistan was originally a country founded on Islamic Principles just exactly how the Far Right and socail conservatives say the United States was a country founded on Christian Principles. The Far Right is a bigger threat to the United States than the terrorists are. I am afraid that some day if the Far Rigth goes to far they will take over this country and insitute theocratic law in the United States. I also read a fictional book by Margaret Atwood called the Handmaids Tale and it is a book about the far right overthrowing the government in the United States the book talks about the social issues the United States is was facing before the takeover of this radical right government and the social issues the book talked about are some of the same issues we face today. I would suggest that people who want to have an idea on how the far right may run the United States if they get their way I would suggest you read the Handmaids Tale. The Handmaids Tale is also a popular book read among students taking college english.
