In South Carolina this morning, Bill Clinton said his wife can handle the criticism by her presidential rivals.

Yeah right....
Maybe if she answered the questions with some seriousness and some insight instead of looking like your puppet Bill, maybe you wouldn't have to defend her so much.....

Among touting her health care and energy plans to students and supporters at Trident Technical College, Clinton said his wife would be a good president because of her standing relationships with leaders around the world.

And besides shaking their hand and standing 2 feet behind her husband on these trips, what does Hillary Clinton know about foreign policy???????

The former president also illustrated that his wife would facilitate job growth while stopping global warming and protecting our national security. “She knows the reason we haven’t had job growth is because we walked away from a serious commitment to a pure energy source," Clinton said, adding that you can’t outsource these jobs. "Someone has to be on the roof.”

Obama went through the exact same thing earlier in the summer over his comments about Pakisan: comments it was later revealed Hillary had agreed with and supported. Yet, she called him naive and inexperienced for holding the same position she herself has held.

Hillary Clinton is being treated like the front runner. She's being held to the exact same standard every other campaign is being held: edwards got through the fortress scandal and $400 haircut without whining about it.

I don't think the criticism of Senator Clinton is "picking on her." And they are not criticizing her because she is a woman, but rather because she is the leader in the polls. Pointing out disparities in a candidate's position, or pointing out the failure of a candidate to take a definitive position is not picking on someone. How are voter to distinguish among the positions of the various candidates if the differences are not pointed out?

Wendy, pardon me for saying this, but, you are so wrong. Most Democratic men (by virtue of their party affiliation) are perfectly comfortable with the idea of a woman president. I daresay that there are even many (maybe not a majority) of Republican men who are comfortable with the concept - after all those same Republicans loved Margaret Thatcher, the iron lady.

The problem is not with Hillary's gender (although I think she lessens herself by playing the gender card constantly) it's with her candidacy and with the men who work on her campaign - giving poor advise and even poorer surrogate defense.

The problem I have is with Hillary's position on the war, her lack of a cogent position on SS, her closeness to special interests and her inability to take a position on simple questions (thanks to the triangulating advise of her pollster, Mark Penn). But, mostly it's with her votes on the war.

Please don't demean me by thinking that I, a patriotic male American, would sacrifice a vote for a woman who spoke my heart and stood for my principles, simply because she was a woman. Don't think for a moment that I wouldn't want the most honorable and precise leader for my country, no matter the gender. How could you think that I wouldn't want any and all of my four daughters to achieve all of which they are capable? And that includes the assumption of the presidency.

No Wendy it's not Hillary's gender that is the problem. The problem is Hillary.

BTW I was at an Obama rally today in Claremont, NH and I have to say that Senator Obama is one impressive individual. He entertained all questions (no plants, as far as I could tell) and even told some people things that they didn't want to hear. To me the ability to clearly communicate difficult and even unpalatable concepts is what makes a true leader.

Even bigger joke that I see is that I see everyone making comments about her but guess what, NOT ONE OF YOU managed to muster up one cent of something to say about someone else doing a better job. At least she is offering solutions, making promises that can be obtained. Those of you who remarked the way you did regarding her and the democratic party are the EXACT reason our country has been deemed as a "bully" and we Americans our now who were once revered as a welcoming land our now being viewed as terrorists to many other countries.

I really think that she's picked on because she is a woman. Men still can't grasp the fact that a woman is running for president. They wiil do everything in their power to shut her down. You're assuming that anyone who believes that nominating Hillary Clinton would spell disaster in Nov. 08, doesn't loath Bush et al. With the exception of the Jerry's out there, most people who are critical of HRC will support her if she's the nominee, but are very concerned that if she is the nominee Rudy will be the next President, and that is why they are so concerned that too many Democrats are blind on the issue of Clinton's electability.

At least someone now admits that Hillary lies. That can be counted on as progress I guess.

Hillary as president wouldn't be so much a disaster as it would be comical. We'd have another 4 years of that whacky couple arguing with us about what the meaning of the word "is" is. It would be entertaining, but fairly nonproductive. Maybe they could stand at a podium and wag their fingers at us like we were some kind of misbehaving child of theirs. That was always fun with Bill.
