We need a new class of GREAT AMERICAN HERO - the "BETTER THINGS TO DO" FEARLESS Chicken hawk, ready, willing and able serve his country at a moment's notice to recite jingonistic platiudes, e.g., "Support the Troops," "If 'We' don't fight them there, 'we' will have to fight them here", and the ever-popular, "If you don't support the war, you hate America."

After all, not just anyone can stand to be a craven coward AND loud and proud about it.

It should come with a medal: a yacht hanging from a chicken bone by a rainbow ribbon (CHEAP SHOT! LOT'S OF GAYS HAVE HAD THE GUTS TO GO TO WAR FOR THEIR COUNTRY) - a yellow ribbon.

I would never vote for the "Mitt Romney" running right now, maybe the earlier version. Whom I kidding I will vote for the Democratic nominee as I always have. It was nice of Romney to donate to HACAP. Don't really understand why he shopped in Iowa City to donate in Cedar Rapids 23 miles away (assuming you had the two locations right). Not only do we have more Hy-Vee's in CR ( and a couple other grocery chains) than IC, he could have purchased more groceries in CR for the same amount of money. Iowa City is Iowa's most expensive city.

Even though I don't want you to win the general, and will do all I can to prevent it if you're the nominee, congratulations on the baby, and I hope it's healthy.

Two biggest wars of the 20th century for the U.S. so I guess it follows, based on your logic, that they were two of the biggest chickenhawks of the 20th century. No military service, big wars.

Warren Harding- no service, no war.
Herbert Hoover- no service, no war.

Harry Truman served and he took us into a big war.

Dwight Eisenhower served but didn't take us into war.

JFK served and started us toward war.

Lyndon Johnson's service record is similar to George W. Bush's. He made Kennedy's small war into a big war.

Richard Nixon served and did not take us into war and ended the one he inherited.

Ronald Reagan served and did not take us into war. Well, go ahead and count Grenada if you want.

George H. W. Bush served and took us into a little war.

Bill Clinton did not serve and took us into a little war and used the military more than Ronald Reagan.

George W. Bush served and took us into two small wars.

There is a pattern there if you'll look for it.

(I'm glad Roosevelt was a chickenhawk, by the way)

Mitt Romney is one of the smartest business men around today. I think that it is time to have a man like him making our economic choices. A year from now the economy will be issue #1. Think it through people. For those complaining about his children not being in the military. Last time I checked our military was voluntary. I've known many great Americans that have never worn a uniform. There are many other ways to support our troops without becomming one.

Not only does he continue to donate to various causes, he will not be collecting a salary as President -- just as he NEVER DREW A SALARY when he was the Governor of Massachusetts. What other candidate is doing the same? – and they are all wealthier than most Americans.
Romney does not need to deny himself a salary, no one expects it, he chooses to. I am so impressed with this alone that I salute him.

I'm sure some of you liberals will find something negative to say about this too. Jealous!

At first I thought that this was another non-story but there is so much symbolism that I just had to post my thoughts, Captain Cruch, 'Captain of the ship' Captain Crunch as I remember has a sweet plastic like coating, MITT as the PLASTIC CANDIDATE, fruit loops, too easy, Tiger, strong animal, peanut butter Captain Crunch, southern strategy. I want to know if it was REAL maple syrup or corn syrup though because if it was corn, Iowa, and if it was real sap from a tree, then north east voters go for the home town boy. It was strange though that he would miss the pancake/syrup connection but that could be another symbol, all icing and no cake!

my only point is that this is a good man and it seems people have to stretch a very long way to find things to criticize him about. My intention was not to elevate Mitt to Jesus Christ level for we know no mortal man can fill our Saviors role. Only that I can not believe how twisted every word & motive, not only of he and his character, but that of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. Truly not understanding how someone with his character and successes can be falsely understood.
Downing someone for going into faltering businesses and turning them around requires cleaning house. But at the same time building them creating more jobs. Otherwise these business go bankrupt and then where does that leave the workers? Do you have any idea how may bring home a pay check with his name on it? The fact that he is using his own money to fight to make a difference for our country and refusing to except a salary if elected speaks volumes more of him. He does not want elevated to power, rather, he wants to serve freely. Mitt is not perfect. Has he made mistakes? Sure. He is merely a man, but he a is a good good man!

It's easy to refuse a salary when you do not need it. several Presidents have done so and others were only too glad that the job came with a decent salary. Not as much as it should mind you but enough to eat etc. Romney will never need it. He made enough money to last him several lifetimes.
