In Iowa, candidates want the locals to ask about certain things. In New Hampshire, the want them to applaud. In both cases, We The People, do not live up to their expectations. Maybe the candidates should bring their own soundtracks, with questions, applause, canned laughter, a couple of commercials for future no-bid contractors, lifesize inflatable bobble head audiences, you know, the Political Version of Reality. They really don't want to be around us, we just make them feel awkward. Just an Independent's observation.

Ouch.

And by the way, Mr. Spencer, Huckabee is no fiscal conservative. Look it up, he is big Government all the way. Plus, his patronizing style reminds me too much of Bill Clinton, can't stand it. It's like he's a creepy uncle trying to fondle my brain with folksy Americana slogans. Would hate to have to put up with that for the next four years.

Give me someone who tells it like it is without the emotion-groping rhetoric. Give me someone who can speak to me as an adult. Give me someone who can deliver a straightforward diagnosis and then recommend an honest cure.

Now that would be refreshing.

Yeah Huckabee raised taxes and offered amnesty for illegal immigrants, then pardoned a rapists..

And Senator Obama, what a joke.. he speaks out against the Patriot Act, but as soon as he gets into the Senate who votes in favor of reauthorizing it? now he can't commit to withdrawing troops out of Iraq by 2013 and has kept the option of using strikes against Iran.. and let's not forget he takes money from lobbyits despite his denials

This election has been such a dissapointment, they all complain about Bush yet when it comes time to vote they all vote in favor of his policies

We have a broken system.. at this poin the only candidate I see worth voting for is Congressman Paul.. he has some interesting ideas, but they will never pass through Congress, he will get us out of the middle east and reduce government spending so taxpayers don't have the burden of paying of debt..

So at what point do you guys start noticing that Ron Paul's support is staggering?

We now know via this blog that a dozen for Romney and 50 for Fred where applause has to be prompted is newsworthy. (Last month, shortly after his announcement at a stop in New Hampshire he had to ask a crowd of about 20 for applause). Maybe Fred isn't the one lacking enthusiasm. Maybe his platform is not only un-inspiring to his supporters but to Fred and anyone on his staff.

So where do you note that 5000+ in Philadelphia, 2000+ in Nashville, 2000+ in Michigan, 1000+ in Nevada, 700+ in Austin (back in May!), all crowds that arrived to see Dr. Paul in varying weather conditions is newsworthy?

Isn't it time to recognize that the real front runner of this Republican race is in fact Ron Paul? Isn't it time to re-assess this absurd notion that it is Ron Paul who is the quirky "fringe" candidate?

I am also disturbed by most of the canidates. Rudy seems to be a typical New York slime bag, the only republican worth anything is Huckabee. I am voting as an independent, probably for Hillary. I think if she were to have Richardson as her mate and Bill Clinton both with her we would be in the best shape. No one hated us when Clinton was in office and the economy was much stronger, also oil was almost $80.00 cheaper. Richardson has good foreign policy experience, which could only help after Bush's BLUNDERS. I am looking forward to a fresh start.

Everyone seems to be more concerned with turnout and fund raising rather than who the most qualified candidates might be.

I think it's funny that the two oldest men in the race are by far the most qualified and the freshest ideas. That is Senators McCain and Biden. They disagree on most of not every issue, but they at least give some thought behind their views and can express those views. Both of them have unique ideas for Iraq and those ideas are going to to be the solutions as is evidenced by the progress made there since McCain pushed for the troop surge. Now add to that Biden's idea for three semi-autonomous regions and I think you have an answer that's better than anything out of the mouth of Romney, Guiliani, Huckabee, Obama or Clinton.

You can disagree with them on other issues, but you have to respect their ideas. Both of them would be great Presidents on day one. Maybe effective is better terminology. Great compared to what we have now, that is.

I watched Fred on Fox, even they are not too excited with this man or his campaign. Fred has no exciting ideas or new approaches to fixing our problems and with the majority of americans looking for new directions and change the repubs are in trouble. Fred is not going anywhere, he is just another candidate that thought he was more important than he is. His southern strategy is a losing proposition, he cannot get the nomination by ignoring the rest of the country. He cannot energize the base with guns and SSI and he has nothing to say on the elephant in the room, Iraq, seems like he is in a dream world of his own making, actors spend a lot of time pretending, we don't need another pretend president, we need a worker, a policy wonk, a real leader. Fred is all pretend all the time. He is tired looking and needs to take a long nap!

Thompson isn't offering anything different than what the current administration has - we've got to see some changes. Although I'm a christian, Huckabee's bible-thumping really is a bit much & his talking about banning something like smoking at a federal level is pretty insane - there are much more important issues to discuss, like war, economy, health costs. Romney is a smooth-talker who has flip-flopped so many times, I can't keep up. Giuliani is creepy (also flip-flopping) and has a lot of shady characters associated with him so he's out. Biden makes me laugh at the debates, but that's about it. Dodd and McCain are interesting fellows, but no solutions except kill, kill, kill. None of the Republicans have any solutions regarding our economy, the war and health care except for Dr. Ron Paul.
