Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. Most people would say that it was corruption that did in Louisiana. Thank God Republicans are represented by such upstanding gentleman as Duke Cunningham, Larry Craig, and Ted Stevens. Vote Republican, no corruption there!

The reason Lott is resigning now is because in Jan. 1, new ethics laws come into effect requiring senators to wait two years before they can lobby their former coleagues, rather than the current one year ban.

Besides, Jerry, politics in LA is wierd. My mom, who was born in northern LA, had a saying that they elected politicans they hated to Congress in LA because they wanted to get them out of the state.

What are we doing talking about corruption? I think the issue is law of Mississipi. It would seem pretty clear if Lott resignes later than 1/3/08 then the Governor must call a new election. I think Lott is hungry for Lobbing money so he has to leave by 12/31/07 or else he has to wait an addition two years to start his new job.
