Compare the spectacle with the Democratic debates of the past few months, where every candidate draws fire on Hillary Clinton, hoping to finally make her slip. There was no such dynamic, as there was no man to take down. Instead, fights erupted between different groups of candidates, reflecting the tensions of the campaign trail. Huckabee came alive, Thompson was straight to the point, Mc Cain regained some strength, Gulianni treaded water (but with too many New York references) Hunter improved his standings, Tancredo dissappeared even more, and Romney stumbled. Paul furthered cemented his psychotic demise. Maybe if we took a little of all the candidates (excluding Paul) we could mold a good Presidential hopeful that would be a pale Reagan impersonator and even that would be better than Hillary or Osama uh Obama. To have one mistake, okay that could happen. But to have multiple breeches of etiquette, now that is systemic. With communications being what they are today, any fabrication of so-called information can be found out on a moments notice. Ask Dan Rather for details on how that works. CNN is fabricating the news along with the environment for how news is collected and presented to the public. It's okay to have a passive bias one way or the other, it's human nature. But CNN is either actively presenting a biased view, or ignoring any types of safeguards to at least minimize presenting a biased viewpoint.

The things the CNN is doing are exactly what the Democrats accuse Fox News of doing. Fox News though is the epitome of virtue compared to CNN. If ever the Democrats were brave enough to show up on Fox, you would hope Fox would at least put safeguards in place to prevent the plants that keep showing up on CNN.

Last night's debate

Well I will try to get this posted here, since it was not posted in another thread.

I think the pundits and talking heads need to get off this train of Iowa being all about niceness. That's not it at all. Iowans want people who are genuine. (This is, incidentally, one of the reasons Hillary is having a tough time here.) We recognize that there are certain situations which compel anger, fury, outrage, etc. - and we are okay with that. We would rather see genuine responses from a candidate than have them paste on a fake smile and offer up sunny soundbites - even if those genuine responses are tinged with anger.

I really wish the D.C. types would stop telling everyone what Iowans want when they themselves have yet to figure it out. Here's a clue - we are no different from the rest of the country. We want a candidate who is the real deal. Sometimes the real deal involves getting angry, sometimes it involves laughing, sometimes it involves being able to say "I just don't know." We appreciate the genuine far more than the nice. There is a big difference.

Last night's debate

We'll lets see, I only watch about half of the debate
and all I kept thinking was, who was selecting these stupid questions? Libertarians over simplify, but he is right about one thing, the war is a total waste of our money and more important our sons and daughters who willingly give up there lives and body parts, just so these guys can say we won and the stupid surge works. So what ! tell that to the families who can visit Viet Nam to see where their Fathers and Sons and Uncles died. I know, stop them there before the come here. So we search little old ladies and teenage girls and oh my God ! al Quida is coming to America. Are they really trying prevent bin laden from crossing the Mexican border or are they afraid of latinos voting some day. I have a way of making the surge work, bring them home and none of our children will die over there. That's victory. So which one these War mongers is going to stop the stupidity and work on Americans retirement, Americans health care, Americans energy needs, Americans education needs. No ! lets worry about a woman's right to choose, lets worry about gays getting married (who cares), lets worry about keeping Iraq safe. If it is about oil then they should all admit to it. Unfortunately half of America thinks patriotism is never having to say "opps that didn't work". Too many skeletons in the closet will come out to haunt him, and he'll lost to Hillary.

All McCain has are war stories and a bunch of failed efforts in the Senate. He's proven himself to NOT get the job done. He will also lose to Hillary.

Thompson is an actor, and frankly, a lightweight. He doesn't have the Presidential charisma. I agree, he is a good man, but the reason he has been doing well is because he never gets any tough questions. It's easy to hit homeruns when you're playing slow pitch softball. I think he'd be good if the following were NOT running. Hillary would tear him apart.

Romney is the change this country needs. They are AFRAID of him! They know he would actually get things done. I'm tired of all the same old lame attacks brought against him.
