Not sure about that sentiment Pat. You're right about his experience. But in the first dem debate when Sen. Edwards proposed raising taxes on the top 1 percent to pay for healthcare....Richardson's response was that he is a "pro-grotwth, tax-cutting democrat".

Nothing worse than a Dem using Rep lines.

Richardson isn't getting out to voters across the country. Unstandably he is focusing on Iowa and New Hampshire. I think he needs to a little more energy in debates as well as humor. I remember seeing one of his ad's someplace and it was good. I just don't see him making it beyond New Hampshire. I don't know enough about his policies or his perspective on the Middle East.

I like Richardson. He didn't cover up for Mark Foley or Randy Craig or Duke Cunningham or Abramoff He doesn't lie about torture, domestic spying, WMD or Pat Tilman's death. He's never shot someone in the face. He didn't get five deferrments(my god, what a coward) or duck out on his Guard service. And he hasn't failed for six years to get Bin Laden, "dead or alive".

I am a New Mexico life long Republican Who voted for Richardson's reelection to a second term because of the job he did in his first term. He has showed excellent leadership ability. That coupled with his extensive negotiating experience, His legislative and department of Energy experience make him far and away the best qualified to be president of the candidates of either party. As a staunch Republican it pains me to say that.

Today only presidential candidates showing at least 10 % should be in debates. Even at this low per centage the debates would be crowded.

Also alcohol is still going to release CO2 when it replaces gasoline. This means global warming will not be reduced. The only real replacement for fossil fuels is an all electric vehicle and until batteries that enable much more range on these vehicles they will be greatly limited in range.

And on gun control: the magazine capacity of semi auto and fully auto weapons is rediculous. Maybe a requirement one can hit the deer or other animal in only 3 or four shots and limited capacity assualt rifles and hand guns are a good first shot at solving our gun mania. Fully automatic weapons are already legislated against; yet fully auto weapons are very available.

A law against criminals getting guns seems more than reasonable. And requiring proficiency of gun buyers is also reasonable.

What does having the weapon fully automatic and using an extended capacity magazine have to do with collectors? Guns on display don't need to be fully automatic or have high capacity magazines to look good.

If the media and pollsters were to give equal time to all candidates instead of push polling thier annointed candidates maybe. The reason Clinton and Obama have such a lead over Edwards, Richardson and Biden is simple.. the media focuses on them and tells the electorate "only one of these two have a chance of winning so don't vote or support anyone else.."
Yet, niether Hillary or Obama have the experience to be President, but that hasnt stopped the media. They look for news stories and not whats best for America, they also look at the surface, and not he substance of a candidiate.

Simply, if Gov. Richardson looked like John Edwards, or John Edwards had the resume of Gov. Richardson the race would be over.

Its not all the medias fault either.. people have gotten terribly lazy.. just look at 2004. In 2000 voting for Bush I can see as a mistake, you werent sure if he was a idiot or just shounded like one. By 2004 he proved he was a idiot.. but somehow America voted him back in office.. Why? It was easier than thinking and looking at the facts, and the positions of the candidates, especially since Kerry was the worst nomineee the democrats could have voted in..

Anyway, my point is simple, if a poll from one of the major pollsters showed Richardson winning in Iowa, the media would jump on it and his poll numbers would jump. Even if it was a typo and got noted as mistake a week later. Simply because the media makes him viable, so the voters would vote for him becuase he is leading the polls. It's absolutely sickening..

There truly isn't a better candidate in the race than Gov. Richardson. He is the only Governor in the race for the Dems (On his second term), the only one with true diplomatic expereince (The UN Ambassador for the US, also nominated 4 times for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work, amongst other diplomatic creditials), the only one with true energy experience (The Secratary of Energy for 4 years), Has more congressional experience other than Biden (12 years in Congress).

AS for his stands on teh issues, they are clear common sense solutions, check his website out. Also he is the only one calling for complete withdrawl from Iraq to faciliate a diplomatic solution, and if anyone could be trusted to know what to do to settle this diplomatically it would be him.

Yet he gets at best 10% of the air time and attentions Hillary or Obama have had from the beginning... Most dont even know his resume is that deep.. much less his stands on the issues. It truly is sad..

The only thing sadder, is the multitude of people I have talked to voer the last few months that have said the same thing " I really like Gov. Richardson and would vote for him.. to bad he doesnt stand a chance".... wonder where they get that impression..

If everyone that thought that way went out voted for him and told pollsters they were voting for him.. the country and media might be surprised to find him in the top tier of candidates.

I just read somewhere that Americans don't consider experience necessary when they vote for a presidential candidate. Obviously this is true if you look at the polls. The most INEXPERIENCED candidates are 1,2,3 in most polls.
Americans are lazy they let the media choose their candidate.

Would any of you choose a Doctor to operate on you who knows where the operating room is but has never operated before? I think not. Then why do people think they can elect a president with no proven experience in diplomacy, executive management, energy policy creation, job creation, education reform, veteran benefit reform, and health care reform? The next president will be operating our country, our foreign policy, our energy policies...............etc.

Mind boggling - isn't it??? Wouldn't you want a proven leader in the highest position of power in our country. I personally don't care if he is the best looking or the best speaker- I do care that he can follow through on his promises- Richardson has proved he can do this - he kept his promises in New Mexico.

Republicans will cross over to vote for Richardson, they (40%) did in New Mexico and elected him Governor in a merging of almost 70%.

I want a president who has proven he can create new programs and still balance a budget- Richardson has done this.
