Huckabee
Taxes. Huckabee’s first term in office. Huckabee signed into law a 3 cent increase in tax on gasoline and a 4 cent increase on diesel. Huckabee signed a tax on private nursing homes for $5.25 per day per non-Medicare patient. In Huckabee second term as governor. Huckabee signed into law increases in cigarette and tobacco taxes as well as a 3 percent income tax surcharge. Huckabee’s record as a hole. he increased state spending 65.3 percent (1996-2004). Also under him taxes were raised twenty-one times for an increase of $883 million dollars. During his tenure, the state’s general obligation debt shot up by almost $1 billion. Huckabee is "the biggest taxer and spender in Arkansas history".
Crime. Huckabee met with Dumond's wife prier to becoming governor and privately announced his intention that Dumond be set free, stating his unhappiness with the way Clinton had handled the case. Huckabee met privately with the parole board to talk about the Dumond case. Dumond was granted parole, just five months after he had been rejected. Wayne Dumond moved to Kansas City in 2000 and was convicted there of sexually assaulting and murdering a woman that lived near his home. Wayne Dumond died in prison in 2005.
Illegal immigration. In the 2005 State of the State address, he complained that a Hispanic student was not able to get financial aid because he was an illegal alien. Huckabee supported a 2005 bill by Arkansas State Representative Joyce Elliott to make illegal aliens eligible for scholarships and in-state college tuition. When a Mexican consulate opened in Little Rock in 2006, Huckabee strongly supported it. Gov. Mike Huckabee gave $10,000 to the consulate form the governor’s $500,000 emergency fund. Huckabee did this even though he knew that his support of the Mexican consulate broke federal law.
Criminal behavior. Both Huckabee and his wife drew criticism for creating wedding registries in the amount of over $6000 at both the Target and Dillard's web sites, in conjunction with a housewarming party to celebrate a new house they had purchased in Little Rock has a $100 cap on gifts to political leaders.
Sounds to me like Huckabee is a liberal to me. Give up the jokes and lets talk about issues.

Bo[pp iis wrong as well. They see a threat to have to try and tell people the old "he cant win" line. That logic was used back a month or so ago when Huck was polling 5%-9% in Iowa. A little different story now. It's snowballing people. The traditional view of rich white repbulicans has to change. A lot of people have conservative values, but hate the corporate and greed types who rule the party and are in all the gatekeeper positions in the media (Will & Novak).

Huckabee is just a regular guy with an extraordinary message. Romney/Giulini are spoiled millionaires who don't have a clue what life is like in the real world. Huckabee is the real deal (unlike the used car salesman-Romney and the serial womanizer-Giulini).

The Huckabees did not create the gift registries. They were created by friends for a housewarming party, and the wedding registry was used because there wasn't a "housewarming party" category. Okay, move along. Nothing to see, people.

I think that when the dust settles, Huckabee is a practical, pragmatic leader who gets things done. He used taxpayer money for things that they needed, like roads, not to build a Woodstock museum or test the DNA of bears. He may have raised some taxes, but I trust him with my hard-earned dollars a lot more than I trust our current Congress, Democrat or Republican.

Take the time to listen to the candidates speeches and debates (YouTube), research so-called 'facts' you may hear about them, and decide for yourselves.

Don't let somebody sway you into picking *their* president; vote for *your* president and feel good about it.

I am an independent. I was impressed by Huckabee's character & leadership and I also like Giuliani.
Romney is just not electable cause he's way behind Giluiani AND Huckabee in the latest national poll. Also he has the worst poll among the big five against Clinton. Romney's manager agruement was working when Huckabee is behind him with the poll. Not any more now Huckabee is ahead of him.
If Romney gets the election I and many friends of mine will just stay home or consider voting the democrats.

1. Huckabee has no cash. I don't care if he's rich or poor, but if he can't raise money to advertise, then he can't compete nationally.
2. If he beats Romney in Iowa, then it is highly unlikely in the compressed schedule that he can raise money and advertise quickly enough to build the needed momentum.
3. Therefore, with the socially conservative vote split between Romney and Huckabee, Rudy G. will be the de-facto winner on the national stage. (Rudy is jumping for joy that Romney's plans are being thwarted by the conservative split.)
4. Even if Huckabee won the nomination, he is way too much like Bush to beat the Democrats. Bush ran the folksy, regular guy campaign and won. People in recent years are sick of it. They want someone with brains. Huckabee is a nice guy, but he is way too much of a Bible thumper to win a general election!
5. I don't like Mike for all the reasons given above by "downwithhuckabee". Those are FACTS that I already knew. Do some research, and you'll see that they are all true.
6. Do you know any Mormons? I know quite a few, and if their religion is so wierd, then why does it produce such good people? Romney would be one of the smartest and best presidents ever. Voting for Romney is not the same as voting for Mormonism. I'm not methodist, but I voted for Bush.

I would not vote for anybody with the suffix reverend, minister or father after their name. Haven't we had enough of the chosen one. I will not live by anybody religous or moral values. Look where the univerisity of Pedophila is ( catholic religon.) I want someone who can seperate church and state. if we can't seperate chruch from state we willhave the same as iraq, iran or any of those countries. skip the whole "registry" thing. It just sounds like a stretch, whether it has some truth or not.

Huckabee is not acceptable because he raised taxes and increased government. He scares fiscal conservatives, and calling the Club for Growth the "Club for Greed" is something only a liberal would do. That group has been very well respected in conservative circles for a long time. He also scares the crap out of moderates, and millions of Americans who don't believe in his particular flavor of creationism. He would lose a general election to the democrats without them even breaking a sweat. I'm begging Iowa to do what would be best for our country!!!

Well, having been a registered Democrat all my voteing life, I have to say that my party scares me to death. The only person that has any appeal to me is Mike Huckabee. I am not a rich man, just a working man. But, I have been sending Mike Huckabees campaign $100.00 a week , for the past three weeks, and I plan on continueing to do so til I have given him all I can. Then, my wife plans on doing the same. I like that he supports the Fair Tax, so do I. As far as religous views go, I'm not the most religous person in the world, But what I do know, that everything that is good in this world, has been brought about because of religous teachings, you know like thou shall not kill anyone, or don't try to pick up your neighbors wife. Those things are right, whether you believe in God or not.
