The Repubs learned how to work the minority from the Dems. When the Dems would threaten a filibuster you were proud, then a compromise would happen. The Repubs called it obstruction. Now its just reversed. This congress is a joke even for a election year. Is their anyone that really cares for the country on either side. Compromise does not happen when the speaker and the Senate leader are too busy calling the admin names, they make it personal, people they think thats what we as the American people want,name calling, threats, lies from both sides...Is anyone else sick of it? The Dems believe that the governments job is to protect us from business. The Republicans believe the free market will fix everything on its own. The answer is somewhere in the middle. Dems believe that business is there only for the employees benifit. Repubs believe that its to make the owners money. Again the correct answer is somewhere in the middle. lets think, I should ad to my earlier post that I agree with you that most answers are indeed somewhere in the middle. I'll also say that's pretty hard to do when this morning for I think it's the third week in a row the President is calling a press conference for no other reason than to try to hurt the Democrats politically. It's pretty hard when Democrats attempt to compromise only to be accused of radicalism on 85% of talk radio shows. It's pretty hard when the GOP claims a compromise to be taking their first offer or none at all. I grew up in a conservative household, life long Republicans. I watched the party move so radically to the right that many of their positions from years ago now align better with the left than the right. I concluded that the "permanent Republican majority", the "K Street Project", and the "Long War" that aim to keep us on a war time footing with increased police powers and decreased rights for the next 40-50 years represent a serious danger to the American way of life. I'm in no mood to compromise until the GOP is ready. Until then compromise is capitulation.

John B, when did we stop believing that both sides loved their country? Not since the time of Lincoln has there been such hate and distrust and fear. The politicians created this climate (both sides). We have all fallen into their bs. Read these blogs, people that have never met calling each other lemming, hate monger, etc.

My take is that I do not want the government to controll every aspect of my life. I truley believe if they controll health care the quality for most Americans will decline. Have you ever been to a state or fed health care facility? There are aprox what 350,000,000 Americans the numbers I recall seeing is 40,000,000 uninsured? Whats that 12% or so? Dont get me wrong that is a lot of people and needs to be addressed. I manage an auto dealership, whats always worked for me was to work %. You dont scrap something that works 88% of the time...tweak it yes, throw it out the door absolutly not.

Is there another way to look at it of course. If you dissagree with me, does that mean you are stupid? no no more than it makes me a child hater or insurance co flunkie.

The American people need to wake up and quit playing the games that the politicians have forced us in, we can dissagree, was it Carl Rove of James Carville? That really dosent matter....What matters is that we recognize what they have done. Oh well thats just my thoughts.....
