All of these Racist and Xenophobic attacks aimed at the Senator will backfire against the party as a whole. In case Democrats forgot, there's only one reason why Blacks ( who are CONSERVATIVE at their core) vote Democrat and not Republican.

It's NOT because of their stand on Abortion

It's NOT because of their stand on Gay Marriage

It's mainly because of a "perceived" notion that Republicans are racist and Blacks have no where else to go. What do Democrats think will happen if the Black Community perceives that Hillary or Edwards won the Democratic Nomination because they used racism and xenophobia against Barack Obama as opposed to the issues? Hmmm? Do you think they will vote party line for the sake of the Party? The party that only talks to them during election season ? Hmmm? Is that what you think will happen? Leave religion to the religious organizations.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

I guess what scares me about the Huckster is the blatent, seemingly fake, use of Christianity to get the evangelicals all in a tissy. Didn't Bush call this group the Christian nuts? Some think Huck is the candidate that has been sent to them by God. They hear anti-gay and anti-abortion and go nuts.

Now...I do have a question...its been posting that Huck doesnt have a theology degree and was not an ordained minister...but he has been promoting this...What is true?

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

The extent to which Huckabee is ripping off Ron Paul's campaign is getting ridiculous. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ. All you christian hating people out there need to not say anything b/c if you are not a christian this was not for you anyway! It was not even for christains. it was in celebration of the holiday. He is genuine and true to himself unlike Mitt Romney.
this flip flopping flake will say anything to get voted in. go to www.massresistance.org
to get the real scoop on romney. he knows that he has gone to far to the right to ever be respected by the far left that was his base during his term as governer in mass state. he is even more liberal and corrupt than hillary. they are both flip flopping flakes together. the only clear conservative here is huckabee. he has been consistant with his stance and not a flip flopping fluke like mitt. i would never vote for him, not becuase he is a morman but b/c he is a flip flop that can not be trusted. the fact that he continues to attack huckabee, will only drive me closer to him. instead of him trying to say why huckabee should not be winning, he should stop trying to compare himself to him and start telling people why anyone should vote to him. the fact of the matter is that he is going to lose. and in new hampshire, he is going to loose to mccain. then he can finally go home and let the illegal aliens keep working on his home...
If huckabee celebrates christmas then that is ok. id anyone saying anything to you for NOT celebrating christmas. This anti Christiandom need to stop. Freedom of religion is for every body including presidential hopefuls. I will be voting for Huckabee not b/c he is a christian, but b/c he has the Guts to stand up to all the anti-christ pundits that do not like christ. Jesus is the Christ and that settles it.....

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

A beautiful ad. The guy is running for the Republican nomination and that party is run by Christian Evangelicals. Whether or not they vote because they think Huck is sent from God is immaterial as far as I'm concerned. I would love for people to vote based on analysis and reason (mostly because this nation would be a lot further to the left), but that's the thing about freedom of expression - you can express yourself based on whatever drives you. If he's trying to pick up the Evangelical base that's mostly tired of mean spirited neo-cons selling out their conservative "values" and flooding their televisions with fear-laced diatribes I think he nailed it. However, the basis for the Constitutional rights and for our governing laws get their basis from the Bible and were penned by men of faith. They were leaving a state of bondage where a religeous establishment was forced in order to have freedom, however, they were also lead by their faith and recognized a higher law than that which they were declaring in the establishment of this nation.

I have educated myself, and continue to do so, on that matter. You should do the same. There is quite a difference in the establishment of a religeon and the acknowledgement of God or faith. Not only does Mike Huckabee have the right and resonsibility to share his views and their origin, but so do all of the candidates. I commend him for exercising that right that was given to him by the founders of our nation.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

I've never understood why people who hold different views on religion or politics turn their differences into hate and anger. So Huckabee holds different values that you... then look elsewhere. Stop the ridiculous insults. How disheartening at Christmas!

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

The Christmas ad is, in my opinion, a form of taking the Lord's name in vain. The newly elected president delivered the speech in a deep, low voice that betrayed what one observer called "manifest embarrassment." Aside from recommending constitutional amendments to satisfy citizens demanding a Bill of Rights, Washington confined himself to generalities. He closed by asking for a "divine blessing" on the American people and their elected representatives. In delivering an inaugural address, Washington went beyond the constitutional requirement of taking an oath of office and thus established a precedent that has been followed since by every elected president.

--------

"Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

from:

George Washington's
Farewell Address
To the People of the United States
Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

This is a beautiful message for those who have ears to hear. Governor Huckabee understands what really matters, and that is what really matters.

Merry Christmas, one and all!

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

Wow, the very fact that anyone would be outraged watching an ad like this is a testamentto the anger & ignorance that is present in some people.

I appreciate and applaude Mike Huckabee for stating what the Christmas season is about (and no, the "holiday season" as we know it in America would not exist at all if not for Christmas. Let the spiritual swine squeal their Anti- Christian displeasure. These are the same kind of people that railed on Christ, tortured him, and nailed him to a cross, because they didn't like his message.
Huckabee practices without apology what he says he believes. He doesn't flip-flop on issues just to get votes. You may not agree with him, but you have to admire that. We need a president with genuine character, backbone, and a desire to serve the people of this nation. Mike Huckabee brings these qualities to the table and that's why he is surging across the country.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

I thought political ads that offend people were standard operating procedure. I'm offended by most Democrat ads. After all, they are just pandering for votes and since they aren't getting mine under any circumstances there is a better than even chance they will offend me somehow, and they usually do. I lose little, if any, sleep over it except when Dems act is if they take the high road.

Amy B from Portland:

I would welcome a similar ad from Hillary or any of the other candidates for that matter. Some people would attack such an ad just like they are attacking Huckabee, but I wouldn't. This is the season for a little benefit of the doubt to be applied to everyone. It would be nice to see this side of the other candidates, if ever so briefly.

I'm not voting for Ron Paul, but he also had a nice Christmas ad recently, paid for out of his campaign funds.

On another note:

Campaign funds aren't public money. Given who Mike Huckabee's donors probably are, they wouldn't mind his spending their privately donated funds in this way at all. Personally I am sick of Negative adds - If you cannot
win on your platform and where are going to take our country while still being positive you will not get my vote. Mike Huckabee is a Washington Outsider with
a Positive Message and good ideas...It is sad when other candidates half to pay people to fly to Iowa to
down grade an other candidate as Romney and Paul did. I think that is going backfire in Iowa. That is a sign of disparation. Huckabee has less money than any
candidate and he is still surging. Might be because of
his positive Message. Mike - Keep your positive message going and you will keep my vote and thousands of others.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

After reading most of these comments it is plain to see why our country is going in the toilet.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

As if Christmas isn't cheapened enough with all the tinsel and advertisements we get sold starting in October, we have a "Christian Leader" using it to further his political agenda. What I have a problem with is him using it to promote himself (again) as the "authentic Christian candidate". There is nothing authentic about it. It comes off as fake and insincere. It made me feel sick when I saw it on TV last night. I'm totally fine with him wishing people a merry Christmas, happy Channukah, or happy holidays while he is out campaigning. I don't mind him saying "God Bless You". but in a political ad ("I'm Mike Huckabee and I approve this ad), is entirely inappropriate and is obviously pandering. Especially when he said he thought everyone was "tired/sick" of seeing political ads... he may not have been talking about policies, but his ad was entirely political. God should not be part of his tagline. God doesn't endorse a candidate. Again, this ad made me feel sick to my stomach.

I would really like to hear some sincerity from this guy, but I don't think he knows the meaning of the word.

By the way, Stevie, you sound like a Hitler fan in Nazi Germany- your new year's resolution is to only shop in Christian owned stores??!! Really? So should we make all the non-Christians (or people "not as Christian as Huckabee") wear stars on their clothes and live in concentration camps? Not shopping in Jewish-owned stores was one of Hitler's first steps towards creating a dominance of the "superior race" that led to the Holocaust. I'm all in favor of supporting Christmas- but you are taking it too far. How exactly does it matter or personally affect you to frequent a store owned by someone other than a mainstream Christian? And what harm do you suppose it's doing if you do? And how exactly do you plan to determine whether or not a store is Christian-owned? A bookstore is one thing, but what about your grocery store, movie theatre, gas station, etc.? You may want to reconsider your resolution- it's sick!

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

It would seem that many 'Cristian' bloggers forget that there is another celebration of Christ in January. Orthodox anyone?
Not all christians believe the same doctrine, that is why we have so much dissension when it comes to religion. Many bloggers who support Huck and his message call others christian haters, that is ridiculous, stop being victims of your own
self-rightousness.
Like I said before, if Huckabee wore bowling shoes, I'd assume he loved bowling but I would not want to hear about his bowling scores everyday.
We americans are cautious when it comes to politics and religion, we are not 'haters' if we suspect a politician is pandering, we are just using common sense. If you believe anyone who questions Hucks motive hates you then you are no better than the people you point your finger at.
Feliz Navidad everyone, I will enjoy my time off with my familty and friends and I quess using your points I should thank god for that.
I was brought up in a Protestant and Catholic house, Orange and Green, and I heard all the hate these two factions had for each other, I have learned that people who use their beliefs as political weapons have no christian values that I would support and people who vote for a candidate that is in
'their club' are not looking for a candidate with thier values but a candidate who supports their religious choice. George Bush is the best example of that.
Happy Eid everyone! I looked at his own website, as well as read articles both for and against him and some that were relatively neutral. I was not at all convinced that he would be capable or remotely successful at fixing our breaking country.

Bill, perhaps it's not so much a matter of "silencing" what you want to hear. Perhaps it is an issue of what is really important in a political leader. Someone could be the best "Christian" in the world, but that wouldn't necessarily qualify him/her to be a good political leader of a country with no national religion.

I also want a leader whose faith leads him/her to make good choices and have good values. But for a president, I NEED someone who is capable of relating to people of various beliefs, able to communicate well, who has strong leadership capabilities, and who has good ideas/policies/plans in regards to the economy, the war(s), the environment, healthcare, immigration, national security, etc.

BTW, I am not a Ron Paul fan at all, but may I point out that he was actually the first candidate to put out a Christmas ad?

Huckabee is not a saint/angel/god-sent candidate. He is a regular human being. I find his self-righteous attitude condescending and very un-"Christian". If you like him because of his policies, fine- vote for him. If you want to vote for most Christian of candidates, that certainly is your prerogative. Just don't bitch when others insist on voting for the least Christian of candidates. Personally, I think both sides have it wrong and you're screwing up America in the process.

I would like to see the day when Americans vote for the "most qualified" candidate in the race rather than the most white, black, hispanic or Christian candidate in the race. Huckabee's religious faith is not going to solve our problems in Iraq; or make us energy independent; solve the healthcare or illegal immigration problems; or set our tax policy. Even Jesus was smart enough to know that religious faith had no bearing on the political issues of his day. He didn't lead a revolt against Roman occupation. He didn't take sides against the Roman tax collectors.

I find it ironic that the most outspoken critics of the Middle Eastern theocracies and the so-called Islamo-fascists who preach religious intolerance in places like Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan or Iraq are also the same people in America who insist on undermining our democracy by having God on display in the White House, in our public classrooms, and in the public square.

I'm a Christian; I'm also a values voter. I suspect my values are a little different than yours. You see, I value the Constitution. I value separation of Church and State; I value my precious liberty and my right to practice my religion without you or some evangelical in the White House telling me that my values and my religion are wrong. Fifty years ago they were bitching about a Catholic running for President. Today it's the Mormons and the Muslims. God only knows what bigotry will surface twenty years fom now.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

Bill, to answer your question, I would say that it's "by their fruits, ye shall know them". It's true that Abraham and Moses were "all were great men used by God, even though they all made mistakes", David was also a great man, especially in his youth, although David's "mistakes" were by far the most damning, at least according to the Old Testament. However, the good things they did under the direction of God influenced how they acted in other aspects of their lives.

For example, Abraham was faced with the tough decision of showing his devotion to God by sacrificing his son. He was fully prepared to do it, although Isaac had done nothing to deserve it. This showed Abraham's devotion to God's word.

On the contrary, when Huckabee's son committed a crime by murdering an animal, Huckabee fought against him being punished for something he deserved. If Huckabee as president is going to swear to uphold and sustain the law (as well as his committment to God to defend right from wrong), his track record is lacking.

Moses made a lot of mistakes, but after he found God, he really tried to set an example for his people, despite overwhelming odds. Huckabee has been claiming a relationship with God for the majority of his life, but has made numerous questionable or blatantly unethical decisions since being elected to a leadership role.

for examples see http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/12/mike_huckabee_little_rock_ethi.html

Another characteristic that made those ancient men usable to God was their HUMILITY- they were pliable to God's will. Huck's recent behavior has been very self-righteous and not remotely humble.

For the record, I could do this same kind of analysis on most of the candidates, but you asked about Huck...

So, do I believe God cares about the future of our nation? Yes, absolutely. Do I believe that Huckabee is God's own, personally sent candidate? No, absolutely not.

Do "Most" Christians feel as you do about Huck's ad? based on this blog, my guess would be that many do, but many with equally strong faith do not.

Bill, I respectfully wish you a Merry CHRISTmas, and everyone else a happy holiday season, however they choose to spend it.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

Huckabee for Pope!!

Typical holier than thou, good, Christian - lying!!!!!

Don't believe your eyes!!! Just listen to me!!Such a hoot!!

This man is going down!!!

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

Linda,

It's as appropriate as someone wishing you a Happy Hanukkah. Some AMERICANS dont celebrate Xmas.

So much for inclustion. Typical hypocricy.

Huckabee’s Christmas appeal

Thank you Kira.

Unfortunately, the majority of the GOP has been hijacked and they don't think as you do. Huckabees policies, campaign, or past decisions, fine. I've looked at the other front runners fruits, and see compromise. It's for that reason I have to go with Gov. Huckabee. I'm not saying he's perfect, but he is rock solid on the moral issues most important to me. Although I see much larger flaws with the other candidates I don't go around slandering them or their kids. Goodness.

He has been questioned constantly for his religion. I have followed him through the debates. He did not put religion on his sleeve, the media did. So what if he wants to proclaim what he has already been labeled as, a Christian. I applaud him for his stance.

When I read all this hate it reminds me of the following verse...

John 15:18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.

The man openly proclaims Christ and BAM! Crucify him.

We as voters are responsible for who we elect to rule over us. I see intolerance to Christianity dominating our government. I see immorality becoming accepted to a degree where it is being protected by law, even taught in our schools. Gods people have to take a stand for morality or this country will continue into the pit of immorality.
