It is sad to me that Mitt feels compelled to compete with Huckabee. The Huckster is not even in Mitt's league in terms of qualifications. This should have been a contest between Romney and McCain long ago. They come from very different bacjgrounds but their qualifications and experience put them well ahead of the pack. The other people just need to drop out so America can look at Mitt and mcCain and finally make a decision: is it best for the country to bring someone from outside Washington with a record of success or to nominate a long-time DC fixture with foreign policy experience? It is an interesting question. I'm for Mitt but he and McCain are the only guys I would ever consider voting for. We need to get rid of these other idiots so we can get to the real race.

Willard Romney didn't commute ANY sentences to look 'strong' on crime.....

There's nothing wrong with commuting a few if they are legit. But when you pardon more people than your 3 predecessors COMBINED, and more than the governors of the 6 bordering states, it starts to get a little questionable.

Are those the morals that led him to believe that people suffering from AIDS should be quarantined? Or is it the morals that lead him to believe that a wife should be subservient to her husband?

Huckabee's message appeals to evangelicals. His chances of winning the general election are about as good as George Bush changing his name (and appearance) to Boy George. I don't care what the polls say.

Mitt is talking to the true believers who still think Bush walks on water. After all, they are the folks that will turn out on January 3rd. What else is the guy going to say....although we now know that he will say almost anything to win.

Let's see if all his money over powers this race, and if the Republican turnout is above what it was the last time they had a contested race. I suspect that the Repubs are none too happy with their choices this year. How could they be?

I hope Romney is proud of denying the pardon to the highly decorated Iraq War veteran, Lt. Anthony Circosta, who was awarded the Bronze Star. Circosta shot a friend in the arm with a BB gun when he was 13, and it didn't even break the skin. Circosta was charged and convicted of a weapons charge. AFTER he came back from Iraq, he twice requested a pardon, so that he could fulfill his dream to become a police officer...and Romney denied it TWICE. That's pretty cold hearted and lacks all common sense.

Let's also look at the number of pardon requests that came before Romney: 100, and Huckabee: over 8,700.

Romney also lied about "being tough on meth". The sentences in Arkansas for meth manufacturing are FOUR TIMES as long as the sentences in Massachusetts.

Romney is a cold hearted liar.

This post is primarily in response to those (Tom Dyche, Dee Anna Roberts) who posted above. You all continue to question Romney's faith, and worse, you continue to include it as a factor in your decision for your vote. Despite the reaction of this country, that the religious card Huck is playing is un-American, you still consider Romney's faith as a negative when making your decision. And I shouldn't write back to you about religion either...but since what you wrote is ignorant, and, as it's been deemed already, un-American, you deserve an intelligent response.

Dyche wrote that Mormons are racist (I'll infer it's because the church didn't allow black men to hold the priesthood until 1978). But it was the Southern Baptist Churches that took until the early '90s to apologize for the many many kinds of racism they implemented. The Mormon church has more members outside of the US with an recent AP article highlighting the specific surge in membership to be in Africa. Romney's father marched with MLK. You saying the LDS church is racist is not a valid reason to disqualify a person from the race.

Then Ms. Roberts from GB chimed in with an obvious questioning of the LDS church's belief in Christ. I don't know if that was her attempt at being subtle, but there's no disparity from her posting and Huck's recent ad with an obviously looming cross. May I remind you that the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS is just that...if you still don't realize that after knowing there is over 10 million members worldwide, you'll never be convinced. You are voting with your emotions and not your head. In addition, you are a religious bigot, plain and simple. It would be logical to infer that you are the racist, as it fits the bigot-behavior pattern. Lastly, Ms. Roberts, you may want to learn how to use punctuation before posting your opinion; you know, since someone who can't use an apostrophe probably doesn't really have any real depth of knowledge on the issues.

C'mon guys, really. The religious card being played is offensive, un-American and has no place in a political arena. Your comments, for anyone with any intelligence, are automatically considered mudslinging. What would you say if a Jew was running, that he's not a Christian?

I hope the voters are guided by their heads instead of their emotions this January. Huck is a good man, but he simply cannot appeal to the masses as Romney and/or McCain can. The sooner people supporting Huck realize this the sooner we will beat Hillary. Nominating Huck is voting for Hillary.

It is obvious so far in this election that Consrvatism at least in the Bushes/Reagan model is dead and I say good riddance. Huckabee eschews the Republican position on conservation/environment. The greatest and most courageous politician of our time is Saint Al Gore.

Simile Huckabee performed terribly the other day at his news conference. While Huckabee specifically choose to tell a story that put Romney in the worse light, Romney has not made known Huckabee's pardon of rapist who went on to murder a woman.

Simile Huckabee, he's got a metaphor for everything. He used "like high school studnets" in his foreign affairs article. I can hear him on the radio already, every week, "I never achieved the American dream like some other presidential candidates, like I never finished my masters degree..."

WHAT DO MORMONS BELIEVE?

Mormons are some of the most exemplary human beings, especially in regard to their behavior patterns and their adherence to the fundamental values of our society. But their religious beliefs are, to put is simply, wrong. They believe that an angel named Moroni left some gold tablets in upstate New York and that these tablets were discovered by a man named Joseph Smith. From these tablets, Joseph Smith "translated" the Book of Mormon, which is the foundation upon which Mormonism is built. Mormons also consider two other books, Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price, to be divinely inspired.

Mormonism differs from biblical Christianity in several areas. Mormons do not believe, for example, that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Mormons must work their way to heaven. (B. R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine (Salt Lake City:1958), p. 191.)

Mormonism teaches that God is not the only deity and that we all have the potential of becoming gods. (Ibid., p. 576.) (Remember that Satan's fall came about because he wanted to be like God.) God, according to Mormons, is not just Spirit but has "a body of flesh and bones as tangible as a man's." (Doctrine and Covenants, 130:22.) They teach, "As we are, he was. As he is, we shall become." (Joseph Smith, "The King Follett Discourse," p. 9.) There has been constant revision of Mormon doctrine over the years, as church leaders have changed their minds on a number of subjects including polygamy, which was once sanctioned by the church.

In summary, the Mormon church is a prosperous, growing organization that has produced many people of exemplary character. But when it comes to spiritual matters, the Mormons are far from the truth.

What is important about religion is that SOME candidates are using it to divide people into groups so one group can feel better than another. Think long and hard about THIS people. If you candidate likes to divide people into groups and decide some are more worthy than others (and this is EXACTLY what they're doing) how long will it be until you're on the WRONG SIDE of one of those groups? We all know the groups are about taking money away from this group and giving it to that group.
That being said, I think we can all agree corporatism hurts ALL of us citizens that don't happen to be CEOs. I'd like to see people focus on WHO GETS CORPORATE MONEY. That's the REAL reason they divide us into groups - so we'll be too busy fighting with each other to notice 99% of laws are being legislated to benefit CORPORATIONS. What it really comes down to is, do you want peace and prosperity or do you want to buy some CEO a new jet? Your choice....
