The Clinton claim of 83 foreign policy experts is yet another example of that campaign's tendency towards "over-reaching". Several weeks ago the Clinton campaign touted a list of 80 SC religious leaders as supporters. In a matter of two days, the NYT's showed that list to have been padded. Including a speech writer whose "whose foreign policy experience is limited to covering the French Open and Wimbledon" as a sports reporter, certainly corroborates the term "over-reaching".

Who cares who has who's foreign policy staff. What is important is what the candidates' foreign policy positions are. During a campaign, these positions need to be presented by the news media so the voters can use them to make an informed judgment on how to vote. The news media needs to research the credibility of the positions and report their findings. No fluff, no sound-bites, nobody gets away with demagoguery, good ideas are floated in the public arena and might even be incorporated in rival campaigns (well this might be a stretch - debated would be an improvement over what is in the news now, however) and we all win.

So how many actual foreign policy advisors does Hillary have. If we look at an organizational chart where do Obama's advisors and Hillary's advisors sit?

It is impossible to evaluate the bottom line. What is clear is that Clinton comes off as naive by including names that don't belong on the list. Plus, if there are lobbyists on this list, it is an obvious turn off.

I think the passion that many of you are noticing on the part of Obama supporters comes from an understanding of what's at stake in this election. Contrary to the deeply held views of many HRC supporters (and I might add those views have been expressed on these boards with equal vitriol), a careful analysis of the political reality in Nov 08 will show that Clinton is by far the weakest possible Democratic candidate in the general election (leaving out Kucinich/Dodd/Gravel, of course), because she is the candidate most able to unite Republican opposition and least able to garner interparty support. That's not even mentioning her years of baggage, and the serious concern many of us have of fostering a 30-year, 2-family oligarchy. I support Obama not only because he's smart, articulate, charismatic, and seems capable of attracting Republican & Independent support in the general, but also because he seems to be the candidate best positioned to deny HRC the nomination. I firmly believe Clinton would be a disastrous candidate, and if by some grace of God she were elected in the fall, I firmly believe she would be no better than a mediocre president. Don't we deserve a chance at greatness?

What is your view on the validity of the report, which says Hillary Clinton issued a list of foreign policy experts that seems to be padded. Do you find the article establishes that on a factual basis, or do you think it is slanted?

So from your point of view, True of False: the Clinton list appears to be padded with the names of those who either served as assistants, with lobbyists, fundraisers or those who had little connection to foreign policy.

With so many of her husband's foreigh advisors advising her, Hillary STILL voted for the Iraq War? And Obama spoke out so eloquently and presciently against it in 2001? If this contrast demonstrates Hillary's experience against Obama's judgment, then she is clearly OVER THE HILL, and he should be our President for the perilous 21st century.

Actually, Lissa Muscatine has done a lot of foreign policy speechwriting. For example, she was the one who wrote the First Lady's Beijing speech, working with Madelaine Albright and other advisors. So covering Wimbeldon really does not do her justice and is not a fair characterization of Ms. Muscatine who traveled as a speechwriter overseas working with both First Lady Hillary Clinton and President Clinton.
