Romney knows how to lead well, and he's proven it time and time again. Romney has proven his ability to affect change in private organizations and to get things done. Romney may not have the charisma of the pastor, but he has a unique God given powerful talent to lead and turn around organizations. No other candidate in either party comes close to Mitt Romney's unique experience in the wild west that is the private sector.

Mike Huckabee may be able to shoot a bird, but can he analyze the incredibly complex federal beauracracy and know how to cut out the waste and inefficiency that is killing us? Mitt Romney can and will do that. Mitt Romney can take the federal government and the Washington culture of obesity and waste to the woodshed and set policies that will lead to economic and political greatness for generations to come.

Mitt Romney has the right ideas and plans regarding illegal immigration and on taxation. McCain has proven that his leadership on both of those issues were just plain wrong. John McCain also proved that he is not an effective leader when he drove his campaign into bankruptcy and started taking tax payer money to fund his campaign.

When it comes to the business of leading the world, Mitt Romney is the best of the brightest and we would be foolish not to nominate him.

In 8 of the 10 last elections, the party who has nominated their candidate first has won the election.

Let's put our individual differences aside and agree that Mitt Romney is a good man at heart. Let's put the small differences aside and unify before the democrats do and let's get started on winning the general election before the democrats do. Mitt Romney is poised to win in Iowa and New Hampshire. If Iowa will vote with his head and picks Mitt Romney, Romney stands a good chance of winning New Hampshire. If Romney wins Iowa and New Hampshire, he stands an EXCELLENT chance of winning Michigan. We can turn this thing into a sweep and have a decided unified nomination that will cause the democrats to start shaking in thier wingtips.

Romney/Patreous '08!

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

I'm a Canadian, the closest thing on the face of this planet you will find to an American. I'm an admitted admirer of my my big brother to the south, who will kick the living crap outta you if you step on the little guy, but this made even me vomit in my mouth a little bit. Imagine the rest of the world. Huckabee on foreign policy: "At the risk of oversimplifying the whole discussion, let me just express – Sometimes the one thing I like to do is to try to make it where I can understand and hopefully others can too – When we were all kids growing up in a neighborhood, chances are there was one kid in our neighborhood who was really good at everything: he made straight As, ran faster, jumped higher and threw the ball better. He was just good at everything. When that kid acted like it and spiked the ball at our feet, waved his A-plus in our faces and danced around us when he scored the touchdown, do you remember how you felt toward that kid?[…]Take the same neighborhood and the same gifted kid, but this time instead of the kid rubbing your face in it, the kid is very thoughtful. When he sees that you really did your best and didn’t make the A on the spelling test, he says, “Hey, why don’t I come over and I’ll help you learn your spelling words.” And when he sees you struggling to hit the baseball, he says, “If you choke up on the bat you get better leverage and you can hit better, here, hit like this, try it.” Now, when the kid uses his strengths and his abilities and he encourages you and helps you to be your best, now what’s your attitude toward that kid? You want to be like him; you emulate him. You want to hang out with him. He’s your hero."

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Mitt Romney would be corporate cronyism on the same level as Bush. And despite McCain’s acknowledgements earlier this fall that his thinking on the issue has changed after emphatic opposition to his proposals from the American public, Romney’s release highlighted some of McCain’s statements from 2003.”

I wonder if you missed the point of the use of McCain’s statements from 2003 in Romney’s press release. Sure, McCain has “fine-tuned his position and changed the emphasis”--making secure borders a prerequisite to amnesty/earned legalization/path to citizenship--as the ABC News report indicated. Romney’s use of the McCain quotations from 2003 does not suggest otherwise. The 2003 quotations are used, rather, to contradict what McCain is saying now.

As the Romney press release states, McCain, at the CNN/YouTube debate (11/28/07), said “we never proposed amnesty.” Then McCain’s political director said, “He’s never been for amnesty.”

In the 2003 quotations McCain was saying, in various ways, that congressional immigration reform must include “amnesty.” So how can he now claim, honestly, that “we never proposed amnesty”?

He can only do so by changing the definition of amnesty. Before, amnesty was waiving deportation and letting illegal aliens stay in the country and even become citizens if they meet certain requirements (like paying fines, learning English, background check, working for pay for a number of years)--similar to the amnesty of the 1986 law. Now, says McCain, amnesty means absolute forgiveness without any requirements or punishment--which, indeed, was never proposed.

But if McCain is now using this new definition of amnesty in denying that amnesty was ever proposed, he still appears to be dishonest because this new definition of amnesty is so absurd. Waving deportation with the imposition of just token punishments is just as fairly called amnesty as waiving deportation with no punishment at all. “Whether you fine illegal aliens or stick them in English classes or make them say a hundred Hail Marys, at the end of the day, illegals would be allowed to stay and become citizens under this bill. That's amnesty....” (TIME Magazine, June 7, 2007.)

Romney is using McCain’s words to prove that McCain is a liar.
Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

People can say what they want about Mitt Romney but he record says this:

He cut taxes, he bridged a 3 billion dollar gap in his state and he balanced their budget, he got many people in Mass. health insurance, he lowered insurance cost, he's also made huge change in everything that he's been involved with from business to the olymipics to governor.

Romney hasn't pandered to big business or any of that crazy stuff. With a search for behaviors in mind, this is what I found when I went looking for Mitt Romneys actions, more than words

I found a man who has pledged to forego his salary as President of the United States and who refused the same as Mass. Governor. Imagine, the president as a true public servant..I find it supremely refreshing.

I found a man who recently spent a free Saturday morning in October helping San Diego fire victims, without so much as a word to the press? Chopping down trees and cleaning up the neighbor property. That sure makes him hard to trust.

I find a man who once shut down his private business, and paid his staff to search for the missing daughter of one of his employees? No questions or expectations, just lets go find her! No one was watching and no one was listening. What does this say about the man?

I found a man who has been loyal, faithful and true to his one wife and love for 38 years. Do we not realize what this says about a persons character, to have been so devoted and perfectly faithful in this most sacred of all relationships. And yet, some say he cant be trusted!

Finally, I find a candidate who routinely turns organizations fiscal mismanagement into economic victory for the company and its employees and interests. And far more importantly, there is no one suggesting that he ever broke any laws or violated ethics in doing so! No Blackwater, no Whitewater, no Halliburton.

So, I am left to conclude, given that I can trust no ones words, that it is only actions I can measure, and behaviors I can assess. Romney has already downplayed ties to Planned Parenthood after revelations that Ann Romney donated $150 to the group.

Gamble said the pic was snapped at an event at GOP activist Eleanor Bleakie’s house and that she “clearly” remembered speaking with Romney at the event. At the time, Romney was running as a pro-choice Republican against U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

“My recollection is that we talked about his senate candidacy and the fact that he was supporting Roe v. Wade and a choice agenda at the time,” Gamble told the Herald. “It was a Planned Parenthood event. We were there to discuss our programs and our advocacy.”

The event was held the same day Ann Romney wrote a check to the pro-choice group. Romney has previously said he had “no recollection” of his wife writing the check to Planned Parenthood.

Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom called the flap “a dog bites man story.”

“Governor Romney used to have a different position on abortion,” Fehrnstrom said. “He is now firmly pro-life and has made it clear that as President he will advocate for a culture that welcomes life and protects the sanctity of life. This is the same path that Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush followed.”

Because of his abortion shift, Romney has been branded a flip-flopper by his GOP primary opponents, as well Democrats. Romney has stated he became pro-life in 2004 during the stem cell debate in Massachusetts.

Beyond attending the event, Romney filled out a 2002 questionnaire for the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund in which he said he supported Roe v. Wade, sex education in schools and increased access to emergency contraception.

“With Mitt Romney, this has been more than a flip-flop. This has been an extreme makeover,” said Planned Parenthood spokesman Angus McQuilken. “What voters need to know about Mitt Romney is this: where he stands on any issue is always a moving target.”

Romney reacts to photo:
+ Romney dismisses photo suggesting he attended Planned Parenthood event
dwedge@bostonherald.com
Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

I agree with all of Eric's comments about Mitt Romney. He's a proven leader in business and in government. He's a clear thinker and knows how to build a team to solve difficult problems.

When Mike Huckabee started his campaign, I liked him even though he is far more fiscally liberal than I am. But, as a Baptist Minister, he knew very well what he was saying when he asked if Mormons believe that "Jesus and the devil are brothers." He knows that he is repeating anti-Mormon talking points that mischaracterize the Mormon faith. (In fact the Mormons never talk about a relationship between Jesus and the devil in those terms.) I can only conclude from his willingness to purposely lie about Romney's faith that he is a whited sepulchure and not a good man. I don't make that charge lightly. But to lie about another person's religion for political gain is bigotry of the worst kind and exploits the kind of hatred that resulted in the Spanish Inquisition, the English Civil War, the conflict in Northern Ireland and the persecution and massacre of Mormons in Missouri in the mid 1800s. Do not vote for Mike Huckabee. As a Republican, I would vote for Hillary Clinton first.

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

I wonder how posts there will be between mine and Robert Jorgenson's next copy-paste blah blah blah anti-Mormon/anti-Romney contribution to First Read. PLEASE check out Romney's Terrible Record as Massachusetts' governor. If Romney could NOT manage a small state, he sure CAN'T manage 50 states and the MYRIAD urgent PROBLEMS immediately facing the next president.

For those of you who don't know by now, during Romney's 4 years a governor, Massacusetts:

Was the ONLY STATE to post ZERO GAIN in EMPLOYEED RESIDENTS

Was 3RD from the BOTTOM in CREATING NEW JOBS (would've been 2ND from the BOTTOM but Louisiana was destroyed by Katrina)

Massachusetts' median home price ROSE 95% !! (40% for the nation for the same period)

222,000 !! MORE residents moved OUT of the fair state than moved in, during Romney's 4 years--the ONLY thing that kept MA's unemployment rates down.
(Center for Market Studies, Northwestern University, Boston Globe, 07/29/07).

Romney allowed his office to fund:

Gay/Lesbian SEX-ED--WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT OR NOTIFICATION--for Grade School children AS YOUNG AS KINDERGARTEN.
Again, Romney didn't have to fund this, but he did.

'Dances' for CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 12 to 'meet up' with ADULT Gays/Lesbians/Transgenders/Bi-Sexuals.
Romney didn't have to fund these, but he did.

CHILDREN'S gay-pride-type parades where ADULT gays/lesbians... off the streets WERE ALLOWED TO JOIN IN, in full regalia.
Romney didn't have to do this, but he did.

BE SURE to check out http://www.massresistance.org
This is a Massachusetts Conservative group.
Click on "The Romney Deception" and other links down the pages for indepth, documented report of 'Romney's Reign' over Massachusetts.

HOW do Romney's business practices make a STRONGER AMERICA for the thousands of Americans who lose their jobs or are forced to take cuts in pay because of Romney's 'forced buy-outs' ??

HOW does Massachusetts' failing record during Romney-years recommend him for BUILDING A STRONGER AMERICAN ECONOMY ??

WHO thinks Romney's funding of 'gay/lesbian children's programs' helped raise FAMILY VALUES for THOSE American families, THOSE American children ??

If Romney canNOT maintain his composure when people just ask him questions regarding the religion HE BROUGHT into his campaign--NOT forthright with American voters in his religious claims (as in other 'Romney-claims'), without becoming hot under the collar, wound tight-ready to leave the room, impatient, rude, a vile name-caller, He SURE WON'T be able to hold up under the BIG-DOG Purposeful insults in the BIG-BOY International Political arena. THEY SURE WON'T care if Romney pouts or turns red in the face. Romney won't be able to hide behind the word 'religion' when he is being hounded and REALLY-persecuted by WORLD-media for Every political AND personal, religious, move he makes/AND the moves of his family--their good, never good enough and their bad, very bad. How often will America have to be embarrassed by Romney swinging his arms around stammering, red-faced, when THE WORLD doesn't see things his way? He WON'T be able vaunt, or to hide behind his RELIGION then, which has served him so well during his campaign. The WORLD won't care about Romney's religion, REGARDLESS the many LDS prophecies about LDS taking over the world.

Mike Huckabee was elected 4 TIMES to serve his state. And he left Arkansas in BETTER shape, for his time served. Instead of a long list of American companies he as shut down or sold out to foreign interests, he (and his wife) have a very long list of serving their community, their state--doing good simply for the sake of doing good.

John McCain also has a very long, very honorable, resume' of service to his country.

Think, America. This is the most important American presidential election in generations. Our next president MUST hit the ground running, able and ready to hold up Under Extreme Pressures on the home-front AND the international stage. We need to choose someone with Exceptional past governmental experience who is Level-Headed, who holds up under fire, who has Proven to NOT be a fickle-fly-by-night-power-monger, whose WORD withstands harsh scrutiny, who has already Proven to put America First. This is NOT Willard Mitt Romney.

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Got to win in both states?! Way to lower expectations there, Mitt, you're worse than "I WILL win" Clinton.

After the two of them lose this election, they should go be king and queen of an island somewhere, as royalty does not suffer for lack of authenticity or humility; granted, the name of the island will constantly change, with no one remembering any different, and the two of them will promise the citizens to be emperor of the galaxy by Wednesday (including drawing up detailed plans and power point presentations).

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

MICK, bringing up the fact that Huckabee was re-elected to the same state that gave us Jim Guy Tucker and Bill Clinton isn't a selling point for Mike. He even said that yesterday in his photo-op hunting schtick. It makes me laugh each time. Just proof that he's no conservative.

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Mormons are a Cult!

Mormons belive that when Christ died on the cross that it was not enough. No other candidate will do more to advance the conservative judicial movement than Governor Mitt Romney. He knows firsthand how the judicial branch can profoundly affect the future course of a state and a nation. I greatly admired his leadership in Massachusetts in the way that he responded to the activist court's ruling legalizing same-sex 'marriage.' His leadership on the issue has served as a model to the nation on how to respect all of our citizens while respecting the rule of law at the same time."

Judge Bork continued, "Our next President may be called upon to make more than one Supreme Court nomination, and Governor Romney is committed to nominating judges who take their oath of office seriously and respect the rule of law in our nation. I also support Governor Romney because of his character, his integrity and his stands on the major issues facing the United States."

Welcoming Judge Bork's support, Governor Romney said, "For decades, Judge Bork has been a leader in moving the conservative legal movement forward. As one of our nation's premier conservative jurists, he has been an important voice for our conservative values in Washington. I look forward to his counsel and working with him on the most important judicial matters facing our nation today."

Background On Judge Robert Bork:

Judge Bork Is A Leading Conservative Jurist With A Long Record Of Public Service. Judge Bork served as Solicitor General from 1973 to 1978 and acting Attorney General from 1973 to 1974. From 1982 to 1988, he served as a Circuit Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. On July 1, 1987, he was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to the position of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. In February 1988, Judge Bork resigned from the Circuit Court and joined the American Enterprise Institute. Judge Bork, who also served as a partner at a major law firm and a Professor of Law at Yale University, is currently a Distinguished Fellow at the Hudson Institute and a Professor at the Ave Maria School of Law.

http://www.mittromney.com/News/Press-Releases/Endorsement_Bork

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Wrong link there - here's the rebuttal:

http://www.evangelicalsformitt.org/massresistance

Enjoy!

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Here, I'll make it easy for you:

SAME-SEX “MARRIAGE”
From the moment the activist judges in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court handed down their breathtakingly arrogant decision in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health, the Governor took strong and consistent actions to defend marriage. He also took decisive action to make sure his state would not grant marriage licenses to out of state couples, thereby guaranteeing that Massachusetts would not become the “Las Vegas of gay marriage” (as he called it) and trigger a constitutional crisis as couples returned to their home states with Massachusetts licenses. He also initiated and led an effort to amend the Massachusetts constitution by referendum and has gone so far as to file suit against the Commonwealth’s own legislature after it took action to prevent the people of Massachusetts from voting on that amendment—a suit that resulted in the legislature complying with its constitutional responsibilities and sending the marriage amendment on to the next stage of the ratification process.

Critically, he has become a leading national advocate for marriage, with his optimistic and uplifting message dominating the public debate. Rather than casting the debate as one over adult rights, the Governor has made the best possible case for marriage, noting what we all should know but too often forget (at great cultural cost): Marriage does not exist for the convenience and enjoyment of adults, but as the best possible way of raising and nurturing children. The credible defenders of marriage in Massachusetts all agree, and through their own statement they have recently and emphatically made their feelings clear: Mitt Romney has been an invaluable supporter and advocate.

Yet despite this record, MassResistance claims that Mitt Romney actually enabled gay marriage by not defying the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts—in other words, by not breaking the law. In a truly baffling bit of legal reasoning, MassResistance argues that the court ruling “simply advised the Legislature to pass legislation codifying its opinion on changing the marriage statutes” and that Governor Romney was therefore “not bound to enforce same-sex marriage prior to legislative action.” This is simply an incorrect reading of the decision. Here is what the Supreme Judicial Court actually said: “We construe civil marriage to mean the voluntary union of two persons as spouses, to the exclusion of all others.” In other words, the court itself changed the definition of marriage. The reference to legislative action in the opinion merely gave the legislature a chance to amend the law to state what the court already said it meant. This was not advising the legislature; it was changing the law. Any governor who defied this decision risked contempt of court. Rather than becoming what the media would undoubtedly call the “George Wallace of gay marriage” by standing in the courthouse door and barring couples from receiving marriage licenses, the Governor chose legal means to resist the court’s decision.
And his decision was correct. It is now clear that the Goodridge decision represented not the beginning of the end of traditional marriage but what may well be the high-water mark of the same-sex marriage movement. Since that decision, homosexual marriage activists have been on the defensive virtually everywhere, losing referenda and losing court decisions. Had Governor Romney not offered a principled and effective defense of marriage, the outcome may very well have been quite different.
______________________________________

Bottom line, you owe Mitt an apology. And if you think a Marriage should be between a man and a woman, you owe Mitt a lot of thanks.

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Please GOOGLE this scripture from the LDS and you will see this is the words from there prophet. The church has 13 million members worldwide. What caused you to have so much hatred to the Mormons? I am a member of the church--and I am proud of what I believe. The name "Mormon" is just a nickname of the church. The official name of the "church" is--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Jesus Christ himself is the "Chief Cornerstone of the church." Just like any human being; we are not perfect, but we are trying to follow the teachings of Christ everyday in our lives. If you claim for yourself to be a "genuine Christian"--Now, you can "throw a rock" on us...seeing that you are the only perfect human being alive. Read in 1 John 1:8 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." There is one greatest commandment that Christ has given us--and that's to "Love our neighbors us ourselves." He told us that in order to be his true "disciple" that we should "love one another" and to love and pray for "our enemy." If you need a better a understand about the "Mormons" then, get the right understanding to make your "judgement" correct. "Pure understanding brings good judgement, as well as greater wisdom." Have a delightful day:)

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

The journal of discourses is not scripture, FYI.

Mitt: 'Got to win in both states'

Romney claims that he will be independent of his church’s leadership.

He keeps telling us that the LDS leadership respect the separation of Church and State and encourage independent thought on all matters spiritual and civil.

But there's a problem.

The LDS prophets have always taught that there is no separation between the 'spiritual' (i.e. religion) and the 'temporal' (everything else).

Ezra Taft Benson ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezra_Taft_Benson ) the leader of the Mormon church from 1985 to 1994 repeated these teaching in absolute clarity.

In this presentation Benson quotes many other LDS prophets, including Mitt Romney's cousin Marion Romney.

Yup, that's right, Mitt's cousin was as the LDS say, a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator.

Mitt is blessed to also include Parly P. Pratt, Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and one of the founders of Mormonism as an ancestor.

Not too shabby, two of Gods Prophets in his family tree.

"FOURTEEN FUNDAMENTALS IN FOLLOWING THE PROPHET
BY
ELDER Ezra Taft Benson
February 26, 1980

...

Ninth: The prophet can receive revelation on any matter--temporal or spiritual.

Said Brigham Young:

Some of the leading men in Kirtland were much opposed to Joseph the Prophet, meddling with temporal affairs... .

In a public meeting of the Saints, I said, "Ye Elders of Israel.... will some of you draw the line of demarcation, between the spiritual and temporal in the Kingdom of God, so that I may understand it?" Not one of them could do it....

I defy any man on earth to point out the path a Prophet of God should walk in, or point out his duty, and just how far he must go, in dictating temporal or spiritual things. Temporal and spiritual things are inseparably connected, and ever will be. [Journal of Discourses, 10:363-364]

Tenth: The prophet may be involved in civic matters.

When a people are righteous they want the best to lead them in government. Alma was the head of the Church and of the government in the Book of Mormon,
Joseph Smith was mayor of Nauvoo, and Brigham Young was governor of Utah. Isaiah was deeply involved in giving counsel on political matters and of his words the Lord Himself said, "Great are the words of Isaiah" (3 Nephi 23:1). Those who would remove prophets from politics would take God out of government."

Benson goes on to say:

"Fourteenth: The prophet and the presidency--the living prophet and the First Presidency--follow them and be blessed; reject them and suffer."

As for the idea that Mormons are free to follow their own best reasoning in 'spiritual' matters, Benson quotes a previous LDS President, Prophet, Seer, and Revelator, N. Eldon Tanner,

"The Prophet spoke out clearly on Friday moming, telling us what our responsibilities are... .

A man said to me after that, "You know, there are people in our state who believe in following the Prophet in everything they think is right, but when it is something they think isn't right, and it doesn't appeal to them, then that's different." He said, "Then they become their own prophet. They decide what the Lord wants and what the Lord doesn't want."

I thought how true, and how serious when we begin to choose which of the covenants, which of the commandments we will keep and follow. When we decide that there are some of them that we will not keep or follow, we are taking the law of the Lord into our own hands and become our own prophets, and believe me, we will be led astray, because we are false prophets to ourselves when we do not to follow the Prophet of God. No, we should never discriminate between these commandments, as to those we should and should not keep.
