Take all the democratic candidates, put them in a room and make them deal with the issues and hammer out new, vital policies to deal with America's and even the world's problems.
I mean, we do want answers to big oil, big business, terrorism, America's decline in the world eye, illegal aliens and the economy. Iowans rank near the top in obesity, produce 83% fewer college graduates in their state than the national average, read less etc., all nice God fearing people, I am certain.

But why on earth do those folks get first crack at the primary pageant? And the outcome of these primaries supposedly sets the tone and gives directions for the other 49 states? Lord or Darwin help us!

The demographics are hardly representative of most of America and Iowans usually don't figure prominently in the serious business of running our nation, except in the early days of January once every four years. Their short-lived prominence when the presidential primaries get out of the block is nothing short of grotesque.

Iowans have neither earned through monumental feats or extraordinary accomplishments, or through divine intervention, this privileged and exalted position of setting the direction of the rest of the presidential primaries. Iowans know best? How? Somebody please explain this to a foreigner.

Granted, in six month from now who will really care? But the tragedy of loosing some of the most thoughtful and experienced candidates this early in the race (Biden and a few others) to undeserving populists, thus depriving the rest of us of the opportunity to vote for these folks, is tragic.

Americans usually get the politicians they deserve as the last election clearly has shown. Why should it be not so this time around? If the quality of the voters in Iowa is a harbinger of things to come, I fear for my chosen country. I can't vote because I am not a citizen and the way things have been going I don't plan to be come one anytime soon. I've always hated politicians in power because in order to get there you have to sell your soul to the devil first.
Hans

Hans

Biden to withdraw from the race

Biden was stuck with 1% because of that ill-advised 15% cut off first step. I said if the media shoved those top 3 down our throats I would be changing my voting status to Independent & that I will now do.
I wonder if Canada will accept a middle aged American woman who isn't looking forward to another 4+ years of absolute crap & still no medical care because you aren't changing anything if you don't get past the club members door. Has everyone lost their minds & forgotten how DC works? Joe was our best bet for change.Oh well, post the telling me to go & the other negative things,I still want to press the "enter" key.

Biden to withdraw from the race

Thanks for a great campaign Senator Biden. Media coverage was poor outside the top three and the contest was the worse for it. They talk about experience? Iowans have overlooked the most experienced candidate of either party - a huge missed opportunity for America.

Des
www.IrishForJoe.org

Biden to withdraw from the race

Biden , being nothing more than a Washington self serving paper hanger!!

Endless years of oppressed dialogue, a wage never earned, never voting unless favors returned.

A waste of public money!

Take out the dog and throw out the trash!!!!

Good job Iowa. It helped Bush get elected in 2004 and now effectively removed both Biden and Dodd. For the last few weeks, every time I turned on a news show, the top 3 Dem. contenders were being discussed - as if the others were already dead. How do we stop this media madness? As well as the way the caucuses are run?

Biden to withdraw from the race

Once again, Well said Kato.

We just lost the most experienced and best qualified candidate.

Biden to withdraw from the race

Biden will be sorely missed. In IL, all we've seem him do is NOT take a stand. He gets crowds going, and they leave loving him and not knowing why - other than that now, its popular to like Obama. When he has to play with the big boys around the world, a sermon isn't going to change anything.

I am still uncertain, but I think my vote is going to Clinton. She has been given the hardest time, and republicans will have a hard time finding something new on her. Her senate record is superb, and also human. she has not flipped on anything she has done, she confronts her mistakes and takes respsonsibility - but MOVES ON to what is relevant. the future.

if we can't have joe, she may have my vote. Why even caucus, just give the hawkeye go ahead to the campaign with the most money. How any of those three match up with Biden or Dodd is a cruel joke. I did not bring up Gov. Richardson because I believe that New Hampshire should finish him. I will mosy likely support the eventual nominee just for the fact that my family cannot afford another 4 years of a republican administrations NLRB, and court appointments, but it will be under a lesser of 2 evils scenario.
