The Bloomberg camp is missing something really important here. Yes, we're all tired of the partisanship, and we're all tired of unfair attacks being used to destroy both people and promising initiatives. The missing element is WHY things have become so partisan. There is a very real and basic disagreement in this country. Some feel that government is never a solution and should just go away to the greatest extent possible. Others feel the government is a reflection of our basic humanity and ought to be used to empower people, and the entire nation will be stronger as a result in every way. This is a pretty stark contrast and it will not be solved by standing around singing Kumbayaa. After a time the more or less equal standing of these opposing forces will tip in one direction or the other and society will move that way for a period of time.
