You know, we all talk about Reagan in these elevated terms because he brought conservative change, but I think people forget how he did it. He had great ideas based on conservative principles that inspired Democrats to come to his support. That is what Mitt Romney brings, that's what his healthcare plan was all about. Ted Kennedy did support Romney's plan, but not because of some bipartisan concession, but because it was a great idea that fixed a major problem. The gridlock in Washington is not due to a lack of bipartisanship, it's due to a lack of great ideas. Obama's lofty rhetoric, Edwards' fighting spirit, Huckabee's populist appeals, and McCain's constant concessions to liberal philosophy won't change Washington. Only the great ideas of a Romney administration will inspire the nation to come together to support conservative solutions. More is at stake here than just the parties or the candidates. If you want solutions, vote for someone who has been proven to come up with solutions, not someone who promises them (including Clinton, whose changes have more been attemps than accomplishments). Change is coming whether we like it or not, but if you want positive change, vote for Mitt Romney.

Mitt didn't just win the debate yesterday, he blew them away. I find it funny the McCain and Huckabee's "Parents" (aka Campaign Managers) had to tell them to stop personally attacking Mitt after the debate on Saturday to try to save face. It doesn't take a genious to realize the difference between someone that wants to talk about issues and someone that wants to try to "take down" their opponent with 3rd grade personal attacks.

All three showed their true colors over the last 2 debates and Mitt shined in both debates while McCain and Huckabee showed us how childish they both really are.

A photograph of GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney at a 1994 Planned Parenthood fund-raiser has surfaced, once again raising questions about the former Bay State’s governor’s abortion flip-flopping.

The picture, a copy of which was obtained by the Herald, shows Romney and his wife Ann at a house party fund-raiser in Scituate with Nicki Nichols Gamble, who was the president of the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts at the time. Romney has already downplayed ties to Planned Parenthood after revelations that Ann Romney donated $150 to the group.

Gamble said the pic was snapped at an event at GOP activist Eleanor Bleakie’s house and that she “clearly” remembered speaking with Romney at the event. At the time, Romney was running as a pro-choice Republican against U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

“My recollection is that we talked about his senate candidacy and the fact that he was supporting Roe v. Wade and a choice agenda at the time,” Gamble told the Herald. “It was a Planned Parenthood event. We were there to discuss our programs and our advocacy.”

The event was held the same day Ann Romney wrote a check to the pro-choice group. Romney has previously said he had “no recollection” of his wife writing the check to Planned Parenthood.

Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom called the flap “a dog bites man story.”

“Governor Romney used to have a different position on abortion,” Fehrnstrom said. “He is now firmly pro-life and has made it clear that as President he will advocate for a culture that welcomes life and protects the sanctity of life. This is the same path that Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush followed.”

Because of his abortion shift, Romney has been branded a flip-flopper by his GOP primary opponents, as well Democrats. Romney has stated he became pro-life in 2004 during the stem cell debate in Massachusetts.

Beyond attending the event, Romney filled out a 2002 questionnaire for the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund in which he said he supported Roe v. Wade, sex education in schools and increased access to emergency contraception.

“With Mitt Romney, this has been more than a flip-flop. This has been an extreme makeover,” said Planned Parenthood spokesman Angus McQuilken. “What voters need to know about Mitt Romney is this: where he stands on any issue is always a moving target.”

The media are missing the story here because they are all looking at eachother, like fish all swiming in the same direction. Romney is not out by any count regardless of New Hampshire. He is still better organized and better funded and will likely have the most votes of anyone after three states. I loved in the Debates over the weekend how McCain tried to distance himself from his Immigration reform bill that failed due to the American people calling it a disgrace. Remember that is still McCains postition. He has so much ego, that he still thinks that positions is correct. One thing that did get through his ego, was that he needed to build the fence first, although now we have 12 million illegals netted here and he will not make them go to the back of the line to get legal status, just pay 5k, say hi instead of hola and your a legal U.S citizen...Amazing! If McCain wins New Hampshire, we are threatened with the growing problem of immigration over the future. Clearly Romney has the position of getting immigration under control. It is simple, put up the fence, and send the illegals to the back of the line, what other choice should there be. We dont let people cut in line at the lunch, why should we let them cut in line over people at the immigration offices. People from other countries need to know that we have rules, laws and will enforce them. If they are illegal here, not citizens, why should obey a law that they are not tied to in any way except previous breakage of it. Go Romney, you won me over last night.

Why do so many of you care so much about how much money Romney has? He earned it, so he should be able to spend it however he chooses... by the way, he did not collect salary from the olympics or as Massachusetts governor. He has already said he would forgo his salary as president. Hmm, an actual servant of the people- what an idea. So, if he wants to spend his own money on his campaign, more power to him.

Regarding the debates, Romney dominated last night and Huckabee lost big time. Huck blew it in the first 5 minutes with his refusal to answer the self evident question about taxes. He did the same thing on Hannity and Colmes when the debate was over. Anybody watching it could see that he didn't want to answer it because Romney was right.

McCain looked like a different person from Saturday. Yesterday he was mellow and friendly- if I hadn't seen his outrageously childish behavior on Saturday, I might have actually liked him. Saturday he acted like a 2nd grader. I can only assume that his staff advised him that his name calling and interrupting was a turn off to mature voters.

I hope Romney wins NH, but even if he comes in a relatively close 2nd, he'll be fine.

Here's to hoping that Obama dominates the independent votes- giving Romney a better chance!

John McCain has been in DC for 25 long years. He is a big part of the Washington grid-lock problem. He is aging like a fossil at 71 years old. He has ridden his war hero status for a long time with small results in Congress. Military leadership can hardly translated to excellence in real life management, because you only has one acceptable way to respond to your seniors which is "YES SIR!” How can any one believe he can revitalize the country? He should be getting ready to pack up his office and move to Florida for his retirement.

Reagan changed party and he worked out fine. Pro-life, pro-choice is not the most important issue facing this country. I don’t give a darn if he is a Mormon or a Jew. We need someone to win back the leading role in the world economy. Romney has the records of success to show for. He is a proven winner in both the private and public sectors. I’ve seen this same B.S. writing of yours all throughout MSN’s “First Read” but you’ve put different names or symbols as your signature to hide the dishonesty of your agenda. You are not only a bigoted ignorant fool, but a hiding dishonest parasite. You use “First Read” to spread your bigotry founded on fiction, to smear a faith that has done nothing but good around the world, and a man who offers to serve without pay. He worked to make his place in life, why don’t you try it!

I have participated in many elections and I must say, this one really scares me. Why? Because I have seen how easily many of the American people are manipulated by “Professional Politicians” and the media. The “Pro” politicians throw out the bull and spins and the media tells you what to think about it. When you make a major expenditure do you just listen to the salesman and sign the contract, or do you read the contract and demand they fill in the blanks? People get your info from the horse’s mouth and in print!

I am independent and read just about everything significant to the candidate’s positions (they’re more careful about what they write) and several have some good ideas in some areas, not in others. Some have strengths in some areas but clearly not in others. The only candidate, whose policies, solutions, background, intellect, character and backbone are exceptional, is Mitt Romney. I’ve checked the reliable sources and Romney has actually changed his opinion on two subjects, that’s it, and there was very good reasons for one, the other I understand his reasons; I may have done it differently. But it’s a naïve fool that thinks you can get to the top of any political position without at least acknowledging all peoples viewpoints.

And as far as Romney’s “negative campaign,” who the heck do you think threw the first mud! It was Huckabee, the “Christian” mocking another person’s religion. The others jumped on the band wagon. I read the King James Version of the Bible and from what I’ve read, I don’t think Jesus would be too happy with Huckabee’s behavior. Maybe if Huckabee’s elected, and if people don’t believe exactly the way he does he could shackle people in wood stocks in town square. Hey, maybe he can even start the “Salem Witch Trials” again and burn them at the stake!

McCain is a good man but his strong point is in one area. I agree he would be an outstanding Secretary of State. Romney is the guy that can put it all together, and can beat the democrats in November. If you’re Independent or Republican you better vote now for the guy that can beat the Dem’s . Can you really say “President Obama”? Have you looked at his history and platforms! Be smart people!
