From NBC/NJ's Aswini AnburajanNEW LONDON, N.H. -- Obama said the campaigning was a "grind" when asked his reaction to hearing that Hillary Clinton had choked up at a campaign event earlier today.

I wish that Obama's supporters would follow their leader and actually act like uniters. I truly do not think that Obama hates Hillary.

Speaking of comments, here are some intersting ones from Howard Fineman of News Week on Obama that were lifted from a column about Clinton's demise. Could the press finally be ready to be somewhat critical of Obama?

“Obama isn’t quite the outsider and systematic change agent that he claims to be. Yes he is an African-American who now calls the South Side of Chicago home – and that will always make him an outsider to some extent. In many other ways, however, he is just a new wave of what Bill and Hillary were years ago – an on-the-make, Ivy League-educated, Democratic lawyer eager to seize power in Washington.”

“The Clintonistas held a conference call yesterday to point out some relevant things: that Obama’s New Hampshire co-chair was a drug-company lobbyist; that the senator had vehemently opposed the Iraq war but then voted repeatedly to fund it; that he had said he wanted to scrap the Patriot Act and start over, but then voted for it. As I listened to the conference call, I couldn’t for the life of me understand why the Clinton folks didn’t highlight these and other items much earlier.”

“Edwards and Obama gangup…They did it here in New Hampshire at the ABC debate. Hillary got angry. She had reason to be. She had a right to respond aggressively to both of them. Edwards’ patients’ bill of rights never did pass; Obama indeed has talked out of both sides of his Cheshire-cat-grin mouth from time to time.”
Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Obama said the campaigning was a "grind" when asked his reaction to hearing that Hillary Clinton had choked up at a campaign event earlier today.

"I didn't see what happened. I am glad to see a respect for both the process and for Mrs. Clinton. I don't want to see either one in the White House, but I do think that they will both be around Washington for a long time to come and I am glad to see some respect. It is the lack of this respect that has haulted the much needed change in Washington. Hopefully we will see more of it and thus more of the change that so many of the candidates are speaking of!

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

You can't win on something like this. Criticize her, and you're a sexist. Coddle her, and you're a sexist. Call her a fake, and you're a chauvinist. Way to go Barack, empathize with her, stay positive, and move on. Perfect.

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

who is the idiot who proposed that Hillary should drop out of the race?????

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Are the young voters getting it. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born
in Honolulu , Hawaii , to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM
from Nyangoma-Kogel , Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white Athiest from
Wichita , Kansas .

Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawaii . When Obama was two
years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya . His

mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia .
When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia . Obama
attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta . He also spent two years in a
Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is
quick to point out that, “He was once a Muslim, but that he also
attended Catholic school.”

Obama’s political handlers are attempting to make it appear that

that he is not a radical.

Obama’s introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this
influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned
to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct
influence over his son’s education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham,
introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school
in Jakarta .

Wahabism is the RADICAL ISLAMIC teaching that is followed by the Muslim
terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since
it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major
public office in the United States , Barack Hussein Obama has joined
the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim
background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he
DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor

will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands

over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s expected presidential
candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside
out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the
President of the United States , one of their own!!!!

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

it does no good to tell people to stop and think. They will just call you a vulgar name and trash the candidate of your choice. The media has destroyed and cajoled the public to hate, denigrate just to have a story and continue their constant blabbering---over and over and over.Whoever wins the nomination will be sliced and diced and the powers that be will annoint whatever side has been the most devisive or used the slick and lying ads to prod us into the voting booth like sheep to the slaughter. In 2008 we will be at a stand still in George Bushs gutter and The next 4 years will be no different. We are gutless wonders.

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Dot, Illinois wrote:

"Obama supporters--your candidate is showing you something. Its called graciousness and class! "

Hopefully, Senator Clinton's supporters were taking notes as well.

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Rob, Phoenix -

Obama did not "gang-up" on HRC. Edwards went after her but Obama just addressed/replied to the issues HRC raised against him.

On the war-funding, there were relatively few academics, politicians, entertainers, even average jane's and joe's, who spoke out publicly and loudly against the war at its inception. Some of those who did we know did so to their own detriment at the time considering the "patriotic" popularity of the war for arguably a majority of Americans. So this argument that Obama repeatedly voted to fund the war he opposed is specious at best when the fact is that he had the courage to go on record, bucking popular sentiment and potentially jeopardizing his U.S. Senate bid, and eloquently state his opposition and why he felt the war would lead to the quagmire we now face.

Let's not forget that the quagmire that is Iraq was created when Dems like HRC joined in to allow for the madness to begin. Once that happened, we were stuck there with nothing but increasingly bad options in getting out, just as Obama and many other right-thinking folks predicted before we went in (I know it kills you that he was right, but facts are facts).

Now we have a situation that even a Congress led by Democrats, absent a veto-proof majority, can't change. We're caught in a "make the best of it situation" until a change in administration is made that will bring about a sensible withdrawal of our forces in a timely fashion. With all of that said, the reality is that voting to stop funding the war was never feasible when clearly the Congress could not force a change in policy. It would have been ridiculously callous and stupid to use the troops as pawns in an unwinnable battle of wills with Bush/Cheney.

Do your research on The Patriotic Act. Obama said he would not vote for it as it stood and fillibustered against it until more protections were added protecting civil liberties.

You call for more of a civil debate but you're not opposed to using the words of others to spread garbage. Come on, be more of a "uniter" Rob.

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

I also want to encourage respect for Senator Clinton. Hillary's campaign is in disarray and if that is an example of how her White House will be run, we are in serious trouble. If she can't manage her staff and the stress of a campaign how is she going to manage a country "DAY ONE"?

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Hillary is a woman, Obama is a charismatic African American, and Edwards is a wealthy white southerner with an accent. Where do you think prejudice is operating the most? How ironic? Edwards has the clearest message, and yes the Health Care companies, pharmaceutical firms, and oil companies operate and lobby for control and profit? Yes, besides the war, the need for lower cost clean energy, and health care are our major needs. People also cannot pay their rent, their mortgages, their gasoline, their health care, their education, and they do not have a living wage. This represents 150 million people, 37 million of whom are in poverty. Only Edwards addresses these issues in detail, understands them, and is a proven fighter. Charity is selective in the United States has no sacrifice. To help others is to help ourselves. We will have to pay taxes to lift all boats, and we can generate jobs in clean energy, health care, service, technology, etc. Edwards understands this. We can have a rational budget that includes appropriate taxes and spending. Edwards is the most solid candidate who will deal with our national and international problems with strength and he has the intelligence and ability to reestabish respect and cooperation in the international community. He does understand this at the "gut" level. We need today's generation, the great generation, and all the generations in-between to survive and thrive.

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Thanks for giving us Obama's positions on illegal immigration, Patricia. I think his view is pretty much how most people feel: the country was built on immigration (my grandfather came from Norway)and yet we don't want to be inundated with people entering illegally. You seem not to like that he wants better patrolling and border control, and simultaneously don't like that he wants to treat immigrants like human beings.

I love immigrants. His

mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia .

CHARLES BOYTE, TYLER, TEXAS (Sent Monday, January 07, 2008 4:46 PM)

Dot(Illinois), just 1 example, there are more. I know this process is a grind. So that's not something I care to comment on," he told reporters who threw questions at him, as he bought tea for his throat and cookies and cupcakes for the press corps.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/01/07/556592.aspx
Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

Ron, TX

Thank you for your response. I try to make allowances for the fact that so many of Senator Obama's supporters are very emotionally tied to their candidate. I think I once referred to his supporters as livng vicariously through him--I think that still is the case. And if I sounded, preachy, I apologize. But some of the nasty stuff we see here about Senator Clinton gets hard to read day after day. And the funny thing is, Senator Obama doesn't react to criticism in a negative way. I saw a brief interview with him on "PBS"s News Hour" last night and I was amazed at cool and unflappable he was. I was very impressed.

I think those who post here, by and large, have very good and persuasive arguments for supporting their candidate. They don't need to resort to nastiness and foul language. And the same holds true for supporters of Senator Clinton.

After all, we need to remain united as Democrats so we can will the general in November.

Obama: ‘This process is a grind’

please don't believe the rumors about obama and the flag. he DOES recite the pledge, he has always been a christian. people are so ignorant that they believe anything that comes in a chain mail...don't you think if it was true that he didn't believe in the pledge it would have been on the news?? please do research before making uneducated accusations.
