Hillary Rodham the divorced woman who has made peace with her ex-husband might have won this nomination and election. Hillary Clinton cannot, and will not. Having that marriage back in the White House is viscerally unacceptable to at least half the country and reasonably so.

If our problems are to be solved and we are to end the screaming idiots of left and right yelling past one another on meaningless talk shows, and solve the very serious problems we have, the culture and morality wars of the 90s have to join those of the 60s in the dustbin of history. This from a progressive centrist who thought Bill did a good job and that his indiscretions, moronic as they were, should have been kept private.

If Hillary stayed married for political reasons, she deserves not to be elected. If she stayed married for personal reasons, she should have realized there could (would!) be a serious political price to pay. Dynasty is itself an issue, and in this particular case, it is unacceptable. It will not happen. She needs to recognize this and move on, for her sake as well as that of her party and her country. A divorced Bill could have endorsed her, been an advisor, campaigned a bit, perhaps had a job, but under a separate roof, with closure. Whatever their drama is, we have seen that movie and have ZERO interest in any sequel. That day is done. This is the end of an era, and good riddance.

Give me Obama, I will even accept Romney. While the latter may stand for nothing, we desperately need a cool, well-spoken centrist to actually fix things rather than believing in them or shouting about them or complaining about them. All these people we are paying, and paying attention to, need to be served notice: do something! Get to work or get out of Dodge and off the TV screen. And do it now. Period.

Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

It's about time, 1st read. You are now part of the establishment - the same establishment you fought against. You haven't handled post September 11th too well. You are self-centered and self-serving, afraid to stand on your own beliefs and fight. Why? Because it may be political suicide. And now the Constitution is being ripped to shreds. That's not what we wanted.

Remember JFK's Profiles in Courage? What happened? The Me Generation never changed. Yes, Hillary, it is easy for all of the candidates to acknowledge domestic problems and promise to address them, even go so far as to promise change and to fix our national problems. President Bush had a plan when he ran for the presidency that DID NOT include a war on terror - but unfortunately even the leader of the free world cannot control what events shape his/her presidency. I am so glad to hear a democrat FINALLY acknowledging this and realizing that it is not a 'republican, war mongoring' approach to instill fear in us. We DO NOT have to follow along like lambs to the slaughter just because these zealots claim to be democrats. We WILL vote republican if necessary because as true patriots,we do not want to witness the demise of our great nation at the hands of a cult figure. Will the TRUE democrats(not the haters) please stand up???

Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

Resorting to the politics of fear? I would not expect a positive reaction if Hillary was to be president. This is more of the same politics and policy. Let's face it, this go it alone attitude has hurt us around the world.

We have more enemies then allies. We need a president who can inspire and bring together not only our own citizens but the rest of the world. When we elect a president we always hear that our president is the leader the free world. For this job we need a person with the ability to unite the free world against our enemies. I see this trait strongly in Obama. He is a leader of people, a mover who can inspire. It's one of his strengths. It's one of Hillary's weaknesses. She lacks this ability to inspire, unite and lead. Again she has missed the boat. If the chips are down I want someone who can rally the 'troops'. Hillary cannot even inspire her own campaign personal. Hillary- sorry you’re not the person for that job!
Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

This latest claims by Hillary are clear signs of a very desperate person who is starring defeat in the face. Experience is a vital quality in any leadership role (especially the presidency), however, if you are unable to communicate your vision to who you are leading all this experience would count for nothing. If you ask any person in an executive role about their success, they would automatically highlight the importance of communicating their vision to those they lead. If you are unable to mobilize people around a theme or your vision it is impossible to lead effectively.

I respect Hillary for her strength and resolve, but I have a problem with her as president because I don't think she can mobilize America around her vision. This is indicated by her past failures in health care for example. The reason she failed was because of her inability to rally the support necessary for its success. Listening to her I get the impression that she thinks that she can do it alone.
It is always "I have the experience", "I can", "I", "I","I". Its always about her and what she can do and not about what "we" can. As much experience as she says she has she can't know everything, therefore she still has to rely on advisers. So I think judgment is really the most important quality. It is better to have a president with sound judgment and experience advisers, than to have an experience president with experience advisers and no proper judgment.

Let's face it, leadership is about the ability to surround yourself with the best and most talented people and to selling your vision to these people.A president doesn't know everything and therefore needs to surround himself or herself with the best people to advise him or her. This is where I think Obama beats Clinton. This is only the beginning and Obama already is rallying independents, republicans and democrats. Looking at the high turnout of those for willing to support Obama, you can see the potential he has to inspire America around his vision. Therefore, this is why I think he would be more effective the as president.

So in my view, all that is needed is a president who can mobilize the most experience and skilled people around one common vision and with sound judgment that is necessary to make critical decisions amidst all the advice from those with experience around you.

This I believe is Obama.

Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

I'm dissappointed in Senator Clinton's obvious use of a Rovian/Cheney/Giuliani-type trick, as a vote-getting tactic, re a heightened liklihood of terroist attack with an Obama success. We need to fix the mess that is the Bush Administration. Hillary Clinton, in the eyes of most of the country, is the least likely to do this. Any Republican that would dare work with her would likely be thrown out of the party, they have such contempt for the Clinton name.

If Republicans are willing and, in some cases are, voting for Obama, that should be a big sign that the people of the country see him as the figure of genuine change in direction the country desperately wants and needs.

Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

It is crunch time, Ms. Hillery has run out of crunch. Yesterday's tear jerker was a ploy to grab sympathy to a losing cause. She was not crying for the US but crying because she sees the nomination slipping away.
The world will be a better place without her, that will be her contribution to making the US a safer better place to live.
Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

Extremist always test the new President. They did it to Reagan in Beruit with the killing of 200 Marines, they did it with Bush Sr. with Saddam invading Kuwait, they did it with Bill Clinton and the 93 WTC car bomb, they did with Bush with the 9-11 attacks.

It's how the President handles the test is what Clinton was talking about. Reagan handled it well, he got us out of Lebabnon. Bush senior handled it well by kicking Saddam out of Kuwait but not invading Iraq. Bill Clinton handled it well by having the CIA and the FBI go after the guys who did it and had them arrested and thrown in Prison, and didn't invade Muslum countries. We all know what happened with Bush and how he didn't handle it well. An Experienced President has been shown to make the right call, the inexperienced President has shown they do not. This article is just another attempt by the media to slam Clinton before during a Primary vote. MSNBC, is the worst. I can't beleive what lengths they will go to to slam Hillary.

Stopwatchingfoxnews, Rochester, NY (Sent Tuesday, January 08, 2008 11:53 AM)

----------------

What experience does Hillary have to be "tested" in this manner? They are all liars and traitors to their oath of office.
Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

This indicates to me a serious sign of desperation from the Clinton camp. Does anyone remember during the Bush/Kerry debates when Bush plainly stated that the U.S. military was at its weakest and could not defend the United States. When he was interviewed by Richard Wolfe (a Newsweek Web Exclusive on MSNBC--entire transcript is available on MSNBC website), Obama was the one to bring up terrorist attacks (which was not responsive to the question, incidentally):

"What is the hardest thing you've done, and what does it say about your capacity to lead?
Look, let me address what you're interested in. What happens if there's a 9/11, and how would you respond to that? All I can say is this: during the course of my life, a life in which I wasn't born into privilege, I made some bad decisions early in my life, but as an adult I made a series of choices that I'm very proud of. I got to work on behalf of people who needed help, to advocate for the dispossessed, and [took] a lot of risks when a comfortable path was before me. So I think my judgments over the last 25 years indicate somebody who handles just about anything that is thrown at him…
By running for president in a post-9/11 world, you are saying to parents in New York, Washington and the rest of the country that they can rely on you to keep their children safe from harm.
Yes, I am saying that.

Why should people believe that?
Because I have a 9-year-old and a 6-year-old in Chicago who I intend to keep safe from harm. The notion that I would put them in harm's way makes no sense. Look, the question presupposes that there's somebody out there who has gone through 9/11. Who is that person other than George W. Bush? And I think we know how that worked out."

So you see--if Hillary is being accused of playing the Al Qaeda card, why isn't Obama being accused of the same thing?

BTW, I don't happen to think discussing how a candidate would respond to a terrorist attack is "playing a card." Sorry, but I think it's a legitimate point of discussion by the candidates.

Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

I do want a president that will be there when the chips are down.

Perhaps one who didn't get distracted by Iraq and support sending the military to Iraq rather than insisting the remained focused on Al Quaida in afganistan.

It is hard for hillary to argue she's best suited when she despite personal briefings was unable to detect the inconsistincies in the NIE on Iraq. I suppose if I want a president that accepts such reports at face value she'ld be a good choice.

I personally want one that grills the intelligence community on the substance untill they understand the underlying facts as well. That way if we are attacked again I can be sure retaliation won't just be swift and hard but accurate.

Hillary plays the Al Qaeda card

Sid,

This is not true.

Obama Held His Personal Bible When He Was Sworn-In As A U.S. Senator. "...Even before the makeshift office was up and running in the basement of a Senate building, even before he raised his hand Tuesday to take the oath of office as the junior senator from Illinois, Barack Obama was already a political rock star and a celebrated new face in Congress. This is what makes him appealing to most Americans. Experience is not a bad thing but, putting an experienced candidate in office will bring about no change. This country has to change. Our future and our childrens future depend on change. Remember how bad things have been the last eight years because the presidential race became a popularity contest. We need the smartest person in the Whitehouse, not the most experience or the most popular. The last guy elected, not so bright. I mean really think about it.
