If she is suggesting (and it certainly can be understood this way) that an Obama presidency is more prone to an attack from Al Qaeda than a Clinton presidency would be, then I would say yes, it goes too far.

Let's be real... Hillary Rodham the divorced woman who has made peace with her ex-husband might have won this nomination and election. Hillary Clinton cannot, and will not. Having that marriage back in the White House is viscerally unacceptable to at least half the country and reasonably so.

If our problems are to be solved and we are to end the screaming idiots of left and right yelling past one another on meaningless talk shows, and solve the very serious problems we have, the culture and morality wars of the 90s have to join those of the 60s in the dustbin of history. This from a progressive centrist who thought Bill did a good job and that his indiscretions, moronic as they were, should have been kept private.

If Hillary stayed married for political reasons, she deserves not to be elected. If she stayed married for personal reasons, she should have realized there could (would!) be a serious political price to pay. Dynasty is itself an issue, and in this particular case, it is unacceptable. It will not happen. She needs to recognize this and move on, for her sake as well as that of her party and her country. A divorced Bill could have endorsed her, been an advisor, campaigned a bit, perhaps had a job, but under a separate roof, with closure. Whatever their drama is, we have seen that movie and have ZERO interest in any sequel. That day is done. This is the end of an era, and good riddance.

Give me Obama, I will even accept Romney. While the latter may stand for nothing, we desperately need a cool, well-spoken centrist to actually fix things rather than believing in them or shouting about them or complaining about them. All these people we are paying, and paying attention to, need to be served notice: do something! Get to work or get out of Dodge and off the TV screen. And do it now. Period.

I actually think it's a valid point, if not the best tactic for Hillary at this juncture. Her problem is she's pretty much painted into a corner - it's too late to redefine her race, so she's more or less got to run with the image she's got now and try to make it a winner.

I honestly don't know that Obama's brand of "we can DO it people" chutzpah will cut an awful lot of ice in the famously arid Middle East, and if Al Qaeda commanders aren't viewing his presidency as a golden opportunity to test the US's mettle I'd be surprised. So I think it's worth raising. Hillary's problem is that just now Obama has such momentum because people very badly WANT to believe what he so obviously believes himself. In that climate, any Cassandra, no matter how prescient, can expect short shrift.

Despite media's preference for Obama, this nomination is far from over. I am amazed at the obvious glee that Chris Mathews, Joe Scarborough, Tucker Carlson and even Russert display when they discuss Hillary's poll numbers or her policies. They amuse themselves with the way she laughs, the low cuts, her more somber moments and even the way she talks.

I am still very hopeful that Hillary will win this nomination. It would be only fair if journalists begin asking Obama the hard questions.

How can we forget in just a few short years the embarrassment and condecension that administration brought to this great country.

The Clintons are talking about experience a lot and basing that as their argument for her presidency. Experience is a vital quality in any leadership role (especially the presidency), however, if you are unable to communicate your vision to who you are leading all this experience would count for nothing. If you ask any person in an executive role about their success, they would automatically highlight the importance of communicating their vision to those they lead. If you are unable to mobilize people around a theme or your vision it is impossible to lead effectively.

I respect Hillary for her strength and resolve, but I have a problem with her as president because I don't think she can mobilize America around her vision. This is indicated by her past failures in health care for example. The reason she failed was because of her inability to rally the support necessary for its success. Listening to her I get the impression that she thinks that she can do it alone.
It is always "I have the experience", "I can", "I", "I","I". Its always about her and what she can do and not about what "we" can. As much experience as she says she has she can't know everything, therefore she still has to rely on advisers. So I think judgment is really the most important quality. It is better to have a president with sound judgment and experience advisers, than to have an experience president with experience advisers and no proper judgment.

Let's face it, leadership is about the ability to surround yourself with the best and most talented people and to selling your vision to these people.A president doesn't know everything and therefore needs to surround himself or herself with the best people to advise him or her. This is where I think Obama beats Clinton. This is only the beginning and Obama already is rallying independents, republicans and democrats. Looking at the high turnout of those for willing to support Obama, you can see the potential he has to inspire America around his vision. Therefore, this is why I think he would be more effective the as president.

So in my view, all that is needed is a president who can mobilize the most experience and skilled people around one common vision and with sound judgment that is necessary to make critical decisions amidst all the advice from those with experience around you.

This I believe is Obama.

In response to Cynthia, no matter who is elected, if the United States is attacked on "day one" the response to that attack will be dictated by the response procedures currently in place. Our new President, no matter who he or she may be will only be able to fly around and offer words of comfort. Even if there were to be clear, actionable intelligence regarding said, theoretical attack, the US military is currrently in no position to go attacking anyone else. Substantial troop and equipment redeployments would have to take place prior to any military action, providing of course you could get authorization for such action. If memory serves me correctly it took several weeks before the US went into Afghanistan and years before we blundered into Iraq.

This is an obvious attempt to distinguish herself from the other candidates and to place fear. No one is scraping any barrels here.
First she suggest that Al Qaeda may "test" the new president. Then she suggest that she would be the candidate to bets handle things when the chips are down. This is the definition of a fear tactic.

As many of the comments here suggest when the chips are down we want a candidate that can unite, lead, encourage people. This is simply not a strength of she has. However it is clearly a strength of Obama. We can see this in the results the buzz and the electricity he is creating on the campaign trail.

She is too polarizing a figure in American politics to bring the drastic, bi-partisan changes that are needed at a fundamental level in Washington. Any Republican that would dare work with her would likely be thrown out of the party, they have such contempt for the Clinton name.

If Republicans are willing and, in some cases are, voting for Obama, that should be a big sign that the people of the country see him as the figure of genuine change in direction the country desperately wants and needs.

It's how the President handles the test is what Clinton was talking about. Reagan handled it well, he got us out of Lebabnon. Bush senior handled it well by kicking Saddam out of Kuwait but not invading Iraq. Bill Clinton handled it well by having the CIA and the FBI go after the guys who did it and had them arrested and thrown in Prison, and didn't invade Muslum countries. We all know what happened with Bush and how he didn't handle it well. An Experienced President has been shown to make the right call, the inexperienced President has shown they do not. This article is just another attempt by the media to slam Clinton before during a Primary vote. MSNBC, is the worst. I can't beleive what lengths they will go to to slam Hillary.

What experience does Hillary have to be "tested" in this manner? Was she in the war room and the top level discussions happening before Bill acted after the first WTC attack? I highly doubt it. It would have been a breach of national security if she were since she didn't hold the proper clearances to be there.

The only one who can say he had ANY experience is Bush Sr. since he was VP under Reagan and saw how to properly handle a serious international incident with the Beirut matter you mention. He saw it first hand and acted accordingly when he was faced with the same kind of problem. The others: they faced it blind. Whoever wins in November, will be facing it the same way. It's who has the leadership and good judgement to listen to those with the experience and wisdom to act accordingly. I have yet to see any of those things out of Clinton.

Did the media accuse Obama of playing the Al Qaeda card after Obama's reference to possible terrorist attacks and his confident claim that he could be counted on to keep the country safe? When he was interviewed by Richard Wolfe (a Newsweek Web Exclusive on MSNBC--entire transcript is available on MSNBC website), Obama was the one to bring up terrorist attacks (which was not responsive to the question, incidentally):

Perhaps one who didn't get distracted by Iraq and support sending the military to Iraq rather than insisting the remained focused on Al Quaida in afganistan.

It is hard for hillary to argue she's best suited when she despite personal briefings was unable to detect the inconsistincies in the NIE on Iraq. I suppose if I want a president that accepts such reports at face value she'ld be a good choice.

I personally want one that grills the intelligence community on the substance untill they understand the underlying facts as well. That way if we are attacked again I can be sure retaliation won't just be swift and hard but accurate.

I also checked out the claim, and according to all that I could find, Obama was at one time as a child part of a muslim school, but did not, however, claim to be a practicing muslim (which I'm not sure is the proper terminology).
