If the turnout is so incredibly heavy on the Democratic side, then this seems to imply a large number of independents are showing up to the Demcoratic primaries and, given Obama's wide appeal and support among independents, they are likely turning out for him.
At the same time, this robs McCain of independent votes which he desperately needs on the Republican side. I think the other 47 states would like to have some input.

Looking at those polls, Clinton has a 20% or higher lead over Obama in many of the "key" states. California, Nevada, Florida, New Jersey, Michigan…how does that sound? Now you have a 5-3 state lead for Clinton and many more delegates for Clinton.

In other words, this is far from over. Clinton needs to regroup, refocus, and start believing in her campaign again.

Clinton supporters…don't give up!!! Your candidate is viable, electable, and ready to lead, and bring change, to our country.

Lastly, when pundits and historians look back at the 2008 primaries, they will say that Obama (and his early push) lit the fire in the Clinton campaign. Being the frontrunner and presumed winner is not truly running a campaign. Now Clinton is being tested and she is, and will continue to, display her leadership skills and highlight her experience as an agent of change and as a highly effective leader.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

Democrats looking for more ballots. At least it appears to be for good reasons this time. Hope they can get out of New Hampshire without lawsuits and recounts.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

Time for a new day in America. We need a real leader, one is who absolutely strong and smart enough to get us out of this mess.

I've seen almost all debates. Frankly, Obama almost always comes out in the safe middle. I didn't hear anything new. How long will the media give him a pass at explaining his stance? Will he be able to withstand the barrage of attack the republican's will hurl his way if he gets the nomination? From flip flopping on issues to missing a vote in the senate. Past drug use doesn't help either.

My biggest concern for him is I feel he is very naive on issues and he hasn't really truly explained himself. What would his foreign policy be? Will be able to stand toe to toe with Putin, Sarkozy and the likes?

As much as unpopular Hilary had become, I am more than confident she'll be able to fulfill that role. I've seen her campaign in New York. I would say I am impressed by her resolve, her intelligence, her stance. She has a mind of her own. She's no push over. We need a strong leader now more than ever.

I simply don't see that in Obama nor Edwards (who appears to be allying himself with Obama in the hopes perhaps of a VP spot).

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

"My sister Jodi Bell waited in line for 10 hours to vote for Huckabee. I love him, and so does Jesus. He will win.
Adam Bell, New York"

Since Jesus loves everybody equally, isn't your statement pretty irrelevant?

God Bless America with a democrat, and not a republican who tries to legislate with the bible. Let people FIND "the way", it's useless to make laws based on it.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

I went on my lunch break and stood in line for almost 40 minutes to vote. I am 38 years old and have never had to stand in line to vote since I have been of voting age. I have never been more proud of the people of my state coming out to vote...especially those young people and undeclareds who are voting in the primary for the first time. We in NH are definitely looking for a "change." I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve ~ I am so excited to see the results!

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

Sympathetic - tell us just what "experience" Hillary has. He sees sending this country in the right direction. This country, and Im ashamed to say it, has not reached the level of tollerance for a Black man nor a woman to be president. I dont care what their race and/or gender is as long as they do what needs to be done. Unfortunatly, Im the minority when it comes to thinking like that....GO JOHN!!

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

I have worked with Hillary Clinton when she fought like a Pit Bull to prevent the closing of VA hospitals that service thousands of our vets from past and present wars. I saw her fight hard and prevented those closings. She is leader for the people and you don't have to be a special race to belong to her church. Let's not forget the way our economy was 8 years ago vs today.

Be smart please.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

As I drove around town after voting, it was absolutely unbelievable how many people are voting today!! We in northern NH are enjoying a beautiful 58 degree day and I'm sure thats helping but the enthusiasm has been strong for weeks now. I expect to hear tomorrow that 500,000 voters turned out, a lot for a state with a total population way under 2 million. My personal thank you to every one who did their duty today!! My guess----dems--1.O'bama-2.Clinton-3.Edwards----reps--1.McCain-2.Romney-3.Huckabee.
I personally voted for McCain. These are some of the reasons: 1. As a POW in Vietnam, he refused to be sent home from captivity early just because his father was an Admiral. 2. Whether you like the war or not, his surge is making it possible to start reducing troop levels much faster than would otherwise have been possible. It's actually working!! 3. He-probably more than any of the other 99 Senators-votes against his party when they are wrong!!4. As much as I would like to see all 20 million illegal aliens get tossed out of here on their asses, McCain wants to stop the inflow FIRST, and then create a pathway for the productive ones to become citizens and bounce the lawbreakers. This issue is the one I have to compromise on, but the most important part is to STOP THEM FROM COMING!!!!! 5.I believe him to be the most honorable and definitely the most patriotic of all the people running!! 6. In all likelihood, he will be a 1 term president.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

Terry, Rochester, NY:

Eight years ago (2000) I was experiencing the single biggest annual loss in my retirement investment program in the 28 years I have been in it and the second negative year during the Clinton administration.

In 2001 and 2002 I experienced negative years also but they weren't as big combined as the two negative years during the Clinton administration.

The economy was proceeding toward a recession 8 years ago, just as it could be now after over 5 years of uninterrupted expansion.

Which all means absolutely nothing, just like pretending Hillary Clinton had something to do with it, good or bad. Or that Bill did, for that matter. Or that George Bush is single handedly responsible for the best five year stretch of retirement investment gains I've ever had.

And what's with the racist church remark? Bill Clinton was, after all, the first black president and surely wouldn't appreciate your implication, whether supporting his wife or not.

Be smart please.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

Jason, Council Bluffs:

Clarence Thomas or Condoleeza Rice would be fine with me.

High turnout as towns seek extra ballots

Thank God we are a free and whole country. Freedom of speech and free to worship as we please. Black or white, all races mixed together to make our wonderful country.
