You piled on like something I have never seen. You got it so completely wrong. And yet you want to say it was all the fault of the pollsters. If that was the case why did Tom Brokaw find it necessary to lecture Chris Mathews on the air last night? (I loved it so)!!! She does to the men what they do to her: if they pat her on the shoulder - she pats them on the shoulder, if they touch her cheek, she touches their cheek: Hillary is still very 60's - Bella Abzug, etc. Hillary will always cater to special interests and wealthy - and only appear to change. The common woman is not someone Hillary cares to hang with - only at election time - if forced to do so, 5) Attacks in the press, ads against Obama even if they were lies - Bill Clinton stating Obama brought in voters from Illinois even while the Clintons were trucking in thousands of people from Mass. as Chris Matthews said a guard told him most of the people in her first rallys in NH were not even from NH - the guard said look at the license plates in the parking lot they are all from Mass. They were brought in at first to make it seem she was packing them in and sure enough everyone bought it. Hillary and Bill have not changed. I live in Arkansas when they were there and as a result they left a decimated middle class - raised taxes 12 times. Huckabee cleaned up a ton of their bureaucratic mess.

First thoughts: Game on

I think that First Read seriously underestimates the real reason that Clinton won. It wasn't just that Hillary displayed that she is human after all, but that she also got voters talking about substantive issues like policy, direction of the country, and the difference between rhetoric and real change. First Read sounds a little more than sexist in its post primary analysis of why Clinton won. And by the way, women (and some forward thinking men) have begun to notice the media bias for Obama and against Clinton and there was a backlash vote against Obama because of it. This should put the media on notice that the public does not like being spoon fed a sugar coated candidate. One more BIG POINT: The media got it wrong when it made light of (and under reported) the incident where two men held up those signs that read "iron my shirt." Had that been Obama and two people held up a sign that read "shine my shoes" the media would have been indignant in its disgust over a display of racism (and rightly so). All of the women (and forward thinking men) in NH who saw those two men try and humiliate Clinton said ENOUGH.

First thoughts: Game on

<--a woman AGAINST hillary and glad to be, so no, i'm not part of that "woman army" you mention. and am a bit offended by a bit of sexism pitting "all" women into voting for hillary. i tend to think for myself and will vote for ABH (anyone but hillary) because what she represents to me is NOT what this country needs. we do not need a third term for Bill and if you think differently, then you should rethink "what will bill do?"

First thoughts: Game on

While it may be convenient for the media to say that the polls were so wrong because of Senator Obama's race, I think that is far from the truth. Whether Senator Obama wins or loses, it will not be because of his race.

I think the biggest force at play yesterday was a backlash against the media for attempting to usurp the voters of New Hampshire before the polls even opened. Judging by many of the headlines this morning, that is a lesson that the media still has not learned. Many media outlets are now swinging sharply from the "Clinton is dead" storyline to the "Obama lost because he is black" storyline. Both of these storylines do a huge disservice to the American people.

This election is not about the media, who cries, or who voted for the Patriot Act. This election is about who do we want to lead America into the future. My answer remains the same: Barack Obama.

Senator Obama has demonstrated the same grace and resolve regardless of what the polls say or how the vote turns out. This is the kind of strength of conviction that appeals to me - his message has not changed from day one and he handles adversity the same way that he handles success - with determination and dare I say it, hope.

I'm sure many in the Clinton campaign wishes they could erase much of the mean spirited flailing they put on display yesterday. I again congratulate Senator Clinton on a tremendous win in New Hampshire, but I would feel better about her as a candidate if she (and her husband) could be just as gracious when she is down as when she is up.

Obama '08

First thoughts: Game on

Do not underestimate the voters of NH! They were not fooled by Romney, they saw first hand the crap he pulled in Mass. If Clinton was inevitable two weeks ago and Obama was inevitable two days ago, do we have a level playing field now?

In pulling out all the stops to win New Hampshire the Clinton campaign stooped a little low in their accusations (you didn't note the accusation questioning his pro-choice record) and drew some unflattering comparisons about the value of Martin Luther King's soaring rhetoric versus LBJ's ability to get things done that are still making their way around the blogs. What will this mean for their campaign as they campaign in states with African American electorate greater than the small percentage found in New Hampshire?

In how many states does Bill Clinton have to "ride to the rescue" and become the attack dog? Won't that diminish her candidacy among women in the long run?

By what measure will WE now determine who is up and who down in the next few weeks, since the media's track record of predications going into New Hampshire is tarnished. National polls (they had already started to tighten after Iowa, and will Ms. Clinton's lead open up again)? How about fund raising (I hear that Obama's 4th quarter numbers will once again surpass Clinton's - but then again, this time yesterday I heard that he would win New Hampshire by double digits)?

First thoughts: Game on

Are we looking at a battle between Clinton and her army of women versus Obama and his army of independent crossover voting men?
------------------------------------

Depends--does the media intent to make it one? Is this reporting the news or editorializing?

First thoughts: Game on

Isn't the campaign process about seeing how our candidates react under pressure:

Does Senator Clinton get a pass on this? She exploded when others dared to question her on Saturday night and then seemed to be overcome by the pressure of the campaign on Monday. Were either of the moments Presidential? Millions of Americans (men and women) are scratching their heads this morning.

I understand women are looking at this as the "hear us roar" moment of the campaign but did NH just shoot it's party in the foot? Most Americans did not react the way the "die-hards" in NH did to the two "big moments" of the past 4 days.

First thoughts: Game on

Hey, cool. How can we possibly put our country in the hands of an inexperienced! After all this is our Nation's future. Our Country will be facing crucial challenging times and we need someone like Hillary to bring about the changes and make our hopes a reality. The media should give her some respect and give her a break!! it's time. Sean Hannity and Dick Morris are the worse!!!they have torn her down with no mercy and frankly it's just to much. On so many fronts, from the 'Well that hurts my feelings' comment during Saturday nights' debate to the tears and the cell phone call to Bill, we have seen a whole new side of Billary. I would say that is EXACTLY what gave her an advantage at the eleventh hour. She knows well how to manipulate the thinking of the voters...she is a strong woman who did not learn recently how to appeal to the public! Hillary did not vote for it, for that reason. I have still yet to hear an explanation for that vote and why hasn't the media talked about that either?

You Obama fans can bring up her Iraq vote, we all know about that and I don't agree with that either. But Obama fans, please give me an explanation.

First thoughts: Game on

I feel the media played a big part in skewing this primary with their constant opinions and contrived narratives. If they had not built Obama up so much prior to this, a mere 3 point loss would not have seemed so disappointing. It is actually quite an amazing showing considering the Clinton's entrenched support in this state.

I am still 100% for Obama. Whatever sympathy I felt for Hillary would not have been enough to sway my vote, if that is actually what happened out there. I want someone new. I'm tired of theatrics, political maneuvering and people who are more concerned with their legacies, than their country. And don't give me the experience crap. I'm looking for character and class and so far I've only seen that in Obama.

First thoughts: Game on

This election cycle is exciting..for the first time in a long time I can't wait for our primary Feb5.
Clinton is not a come back kid..seeing as she has held front runner status since she announced. Remember, this is the state Pat Buchanan carried with his "march to the sounds of the guns" line (yes I know that was the other party, but I think it may be a regional characteristic that crosses party lines).

New Hampshire results tend to contradict results from "Iowa nice."

That's not to say New Hampshire voters like ruthless, negative campaigns. But they do seem to reward the more fiery candidates. McCain's "straight talk" is a good fit. Note too how he ramped up his fiery aspects before the primary and then toned it down for the victory speech, which in reality is aimed at the rest of the country.

And from that perspective, if you're looking for a single incident that helped Clinton most, I suspect it was her flash of anger in the debates rather than the emotional moment the next day.

First thoughts: Game on

This Election has always been about the lack of a Woman's Voice in leading the Country. Neither Iowa nor NH really represent the rest of the country. This is a stupid game to think these two states represent how the rest of the country will go. The sad shame of it all is that the media is really trying to influence the voter based on what they believe. Romney loses big and he is still in it, Rudy is no where, yet he is still in it. Obama is a head of Hillary by a very narrow margin in Iowa and all of a sudden she is supposed to be out of it. A different standard for Republicans and Dems. Edwards declares after Iowa it is now between him and Obama and then gets destroyed in NH. Any of the Dem candidates is better then the Bush wannabees. People forget the biggest challenge facing the new President is getting the dumb Republican congress to start acting for the middle class. Hillary is a better choice because she has been battling those jerks and making changes for years. I do not think that Obama ( although a good 2nd choice can really get congress to make changes.
Edwards and Obama want to put the "status quo" label on Hillary, because they need to scare us, that's a Repulican tactic, scare American to grab their vote.

Republican started the Hate Hillary campaign 8 years ago. Merle Stanley, Westchester, NY

"...Given the Democratic/independent breakdown from last night -- per the exit polls, Obama defeated Clinton among indies, 41%-34%, but Clinton won the Dem vote, 45%-33%-- independents could very well determine the outcome on Feb. 5. Fifteen out of the 22 Democratic contests on that day are contests in which independents can potentially vote; only seven of them are closed to party members.
..."

A little cheerleading there, I see.
Independents were supposed to swing the primary in New Hampshire last night too.
How'd that work out, eh?
By the way, did Mathews buy a "fifth" after the broadcast last night, polish it off, then beat his wife when he got home?
GEEEEZus, I hope he doesn't turn into a serial killer when Hillary wins her next primary! I never saw anybody that angry with the result of an election they were reporting on. The man's going to have an aneurism if he isn't careful.
Your commentary in "First Thoughts," and the numbers from last night prove (once again) what I've been saying all along.
That, most of Hillary's support comes from registered, mainstream Democrats; while most of Obama's support comes from independents.
They may be able to swing a couple of primaries, and their votes are good to have, along with that of a party's "base" in any "general" election.
But, you cannot win an election with the independent vote representing a larger percentage of your support, than that of your own party's "base" of core voters. Obama's biggest problem in a "general" would-be right along those lines.
That, along with the offense taken by mainstream Democrats (such as myself) with the idea of having independents select our candidate for us, would probably cost Obama, and The Democratic Party the election in November. (Whether his supporters want to admit it or not.)
I think what we saw last night in New Hampshire reflects the attitude of the Democratic "base."
If independents are going to "stuff" the ballot box, then registered Democrats are probably going to come out in greater numbers too. You'll probably see record participation in The Democratic Primaries, and Caucuses from here on out. It's interesting to note that partisan voters won the day for Hillary.
Also, the woman came into play last night. 47% of them voted for Hillary. I think they've been waiting to see 'Hillary-be-Hillary' the way she was in the two days which preceeded the voting, and especially the way she presented herself in the debate Saturday night.
People are also starting to look at Obama much more closely than before. The biggest question we all have is, 'what is he going to change and how is going to change it?'
Nobody really knows. Because most of his speaches (even though they are recited with charm and charisma) contain rhetorical catch phrases, and 'buzz-words' that are delivered in cheerleading fashion.
In short, Obama talks well.
But, he lacks substance, and he talks at you...not with you.
In the end, the polling data was off by as much as 20%. Some said Hillary would lose by 17 points, instead she won by 3. A lot of voters said they hadn't made up their minds until just before they walked into the voting booths last night. Additionally, the younger vote, and the indpendents didn't push Obama over the top as expected. Partisans came out in equally large numbers and made the difference for Hillary. Don't be too surprised if that also happens in these other states where the indy's are supposed to make a difference.
But for today, I'm satisfied with Hillary's win last night, and I look forward to watching Obama supporters whine, cry, bitch, and moan about what happened. My wife and I have a bet going here, as to how many times the buzz words "cold," "calculating," "divisive," and "polarizing" will be used, and how many times (and how many different ways) the catch phrase "Hillary energizes conservatives to vote against Democrats" will be spun.
All things considered, it should be a fun day.

First thoughts: Game on

Question to liberal bloggers: Who is using the GOP talking points now ?

Answer: THE CLINTONS !!

I still think Obama has to be favored for the nomination....

If the Clinton's had to 'mischaracterize' (to quote Obama using a euphemism for lying) Obama's positions...... Hopefully the other states will have a more mature approach, or at least get informed before polluting the voting pool.

First thoughts: Game on

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS OVER. After IA, and NH and all of the ups and downs in this race, I don't pretent to know who would pick up the Edwards vote if he dropped out. I just think it's time for him to go. Which ever way his votes break, so be it, but I would surely like this to get down to a real contest between Hillary and Obama. Keeping that 15-20% on the sidelines, just hoping to get into the game, and wondering what they will do if they ever get in, is just not a good thing right now. I am an Obama supporter, but I will probably be able to hold my nose and vote for Clinton in the fall. But I want a true winner. I want to know where that sideline vote goes. I saw the same tricks employed by the GOP, use by the Clintons. What really gets my goat is the victory speech. Barak came from the heart, or at least took time enough to remember what he was going to say. Hilary could not hold her head up for an entire sentence. How could someone that is so in tune and so sensitive to what this country needs, not even think enough of us to write her own speech.

Please don't let us be fooled into shooting ourselves in the foot. It's all their fault, they played the sexist card, if those women would have just stayed home, (and not voted like they shoulda.) Then everything MSNBC, Fox, and CNN, said, would have come true, just like "they" said it was a gonna be, and should be...

Well guess what? **SHE BEAT YOU ALL** with your polls, your bright lights, and all your expert pundits. Since the presidential campaign has officially "kicked" off, the media and the pundits officially "kicked" Hillary. She has been ransacked, savaged, attacked, ridiculed, kicked, punched, spit on, I'll spare a more visceral aspect of another bodily function, that they have done to her... The viciousness that the media has gone after Hillary with, is really unparalleled in any presidential campaign in my memory. Just the day before and the day of the actual primary, "media pundits" were busy writing her obituary. Even Chris Matthews gave her a hug, as if to say, too bad old girl, I know you wanted it, but you can't come up, his reference to the crypt... And then the loving farewell pinch on the cheek he gave her, which was meant to say, "well, we won't have Hillary Clinton to kick around anymore." But in my mind it was every bit as sweet when Chris Matthews asked Tom Brokaw, what he should do about getting it all wrong, and Tom Brokaw, told him that he needed to shut up, get out of the way, and put away the "crystal ball," and let people make up their own minds...

In the battles of old, being "gut shot" almost always meant certain death, and often a slow very painful one at that. In gambling with "playing cards" it means, trying to draw a card on the inside to make a straight, and, playing that hand, adds more drama and greater risk, of not "drawing" the card one needs. For those of you who know this, sorry for regression, but it does lend itself well to what Barny Fife, would call a "Situation."

In the battle for, and subsequent loss, in Iowa, the media/pundits said Hillary was gut shot. They meant it in the fatal way, that she would now stagger bleeding into New Hampshire, and the inevitable death of being "gut shot" was surely soon to follow. and pretty much (all) the media networks/pundits grabbed their chisels and hammers and started clinking out her "head stone." and oh what a chorus of "clinks" it was... And they continued.. even in the face of the actual numbers coming back from voters on the night of the New Hampshire primary. At fifty percent of the vote *counted,* CNN, kept pointing to a couple of spots on the New Hampshire map, that had not yet come in that was going to "propeller" Obama, to his double digit lead, that "the media" were all salivating for.

Shame on you media/pundits, even in the face of "real" numbers you still have to be right. Well many of out here, know, that you are NOT RIGHT, a lot of the time. We are not all lemmings who march blindly behind one another, we are much smarter than you give us credit for. Now poor ole Chris Matthews and his puppy, Tucker, are saying the no body knew, that not even the Clinton's or anyone else. For many of you "pseudo intellectuals" out there, let me help you with the concept of what a battle or fight is.... When Gladiators get in the fight it's win or lose, life or death. It's the same in a boxing ring, tennis match, or even a spelling contest for that matter. They all come to the "battle field" to win, and there are times when they win even against great odds. But they win just the same, and the reason they win is because they (showed up and fought like hell,) they don't give up!! Do you media/pundit easy chair warriors get it?? Nothing, I repeat nothing, was conceded to the Hillary camp, they won because they fought like hell... The Obama, camp swords drawn and swinging, lost the battle.... Get it!!! You can point to the Indies, Oies, and the Xies, to try and shore "Yourselves" up, as to why you did not get it exactly right. The reason, the only reason you did not get it right is because, Hillary, and her camp, came to win. Dear arm chair pundits, when one draws his sword and step into the arena, one listens to oneself, not the crowd, not the nay Sayers, and certainly not arm chair pundits.

First thoughts: Game on

WOW...It seems that some people don't get it. It did/does seem that Hillary is the only one getting the grilling here til she brought it up in the debate. Yes, I agree Obama is charismatic and a great orator and even a motivator BUT let's vet him out, see if there's any substance behind it. Didn't alot of the country take a chance on a guy who you want to have a beer with with no experience. Ummmm....where did that leave us? I concur any Democrat should win the White House. I think that any of the Reps running will be pretty close to a 100% continuation of GWB 'cept maybe Ron Paul or Huckabee but that's not gonna happen. Let's be smart and pragmatic about our choice...not fired up like we're going to a rock concert this is OUR COUNTRY that we'd like to get back!!!!!

First thoughts: Game on

How fishy that Hillary won after Carvel and Belaga (sp?) came on board. If you can't win honestly, a little help from the unethical staff of Bill Clinton's campaign will come to the rescue. Let's call for an investigation of voter fraud.

First thoughts: Game on

If you cry hard enough, you, too, can be president.
Genius political stunt.

First thoughts: Game on

First Read - I sent a post in around 11:20 am - still hasn't shown up. Late last night some one who has the credibility that nobody at NBC possesses today, Tom Brokaw lectured Chris not to rush to judgement prematurely.

Several reasons have being given in this First Read segement as to why the polls were so wrong. Some of them seem accurate and other appears to be wrong, but once again an important reason was omitted. People just got tired of media's extreme bias against Hillary. By now the whole world knows what Mathews would have liked. I also do not buy Eugene Robinson effort to incite black voters in South Caroline by suggesting that it could be the race factor. Come on! What happened to the race factor in Iowa?

Chris: Please allow everyone on your show to voice their opinions. Don't shout them down. You, Tucker, Russert, Fineman and others need to play fair. I was happy to hear Joe Scarborough finally came around to accept the reality this morning. I just don't know for how long.

Tom Brokaw: Please tell these guys not to elect presidents. Voters vote and journalists report honestly and fairly.

Finally, CONGRATULATIONS to Hillary and her team for this wonderful victory. It is true that folks were carried away with Obama's speeches, but Hillary is tested, experienced and has worked with the Democrats and Republicans for the good of the country.

Rob, Phoenix, AZ (Sent Wednesday, January 09, 2008 9:41 AM)
---------------
Clinton won because the old bags in the state thought that between Obama and Edwards tag-teaming her for talking out of both sides of her mouth was too rough cuz she's a woman and because she actually cried on national TV Monday. She won for no other reason.

It will NOT be that easy in other places in the country where people are truly sick and tired of the Clinton name.
First thoughts: Game on

Anyone objectively looking at the NH DEM results (voting in private) and the Iowa results (declaring support out in the open)and NOT remembering "Governor Tom Bradley" after renown CA Pollster Mervyn Field called the '82 Gubernatorial election for Bradley on election night-----is "colorblind" and clueless.

30 years ago, buses were burned and overturned in response to busing (Boston) and today, the liberal bigots still exist in New England

First thoughts: Game on

As a life-long Democrat, I have watched a lot or primary wins and losses. And I found last night to be exciting and good for us. Primaries are not to crown the candidates but for them to prove to us that they can win votes from fellow citizens--not just in one or two states, but all over this country. Having been reading the posts, I have been seeing the usual vitriolic posts about the Clinton's--planting the "crying" question, vicious attacks on Obama, etc. According to CNN, the question was asked by someone who voted for Obama. And, when Obama and Edwards question her record that's fine but why cannot she ask about theirs. And, by the way, why don't the press do their job and question them, too? From the speeches by the 3 candidates after the voting last night, all 3 of them want pretty much the same thing--the differences is how to go about getting them. I can promise you anything, but if I don't have the knowledge or experience to help me obtain my goals, I'm going to fail both of us. I have been around long enough to know that it takes more than promises and stirring speeches to run this country. When Obama has been around long enough to build up some actual experience in the Senate and in Washington and foreign affairs, he is going to be a wonderful leader. But he's not ready for it yet!

First thoughts: Game on

For all the women claiming that it would be historic if Hillary were elected President; this is what you are teaching my daughter!! "If you want to be president first you have to be born to an elite family (The Rodham’s). If you watch the reply, you will see Hillary vigoriously going after Obama throughout the debate (EG. "reality check guys!", Obama not responding and also not saying much of anything throughout the debate, and Edwards acting mildly aggressive back at Clinton. Bottom line: Obama did not make a single comment at Hillary specifically. If anything, this approach was a major error, which cost him New Hampshire. Obama should have pointed out Hillary's war vote, Iran resolution vote, and that she is the second leading recipient of pharmaceutacal industry lobby funding in the Senate.
Lastly, the media has failed to disect the nature of Hillary's "show of emotion" on Sunday. Instead of showing emotion that she sent thousands of our troops to die in a war she knows is predicated on a lie, she cried for HERSELF. That she was losing the race. This is no reason to cry, and is a reflection of her self-centered world. Just listen closely to her words as she gets choked up-- she still manages to insult Obama about change and being ready to be president. The media apparently missed that part as they were predictably too focused on the fact that some semblemce of emotion had been shown in a human being. How, what high standards!
First thoughts: Game on

OMG!!

Iowa Primary, Hillary is gut shot.

"Sucking Crow," whining, and blaming others, or is it lesson(s) of betting all, "against," a gut shot draw?

The Media got it wrong... so now "the media" wants to play the race card, to justify a colossal misjudgment. MSNBC First Read, is almost apologetically telling it's readers. "It's those pesky women, yup, they done did it to us...

First thoughts: Game on
As I said last night...

Obama missed an important vote in the senate because of guess what - campaigning.

I doubted Hilary's sincerity before. I had to do something different! So, I enrolled in college and obtained my BA so that I could work one or two jobs and keep a nice warm roof over my son and food in his belly! So, stop crying and start telling me what your plan is to create this change they all speak of!

Now I know I am going to upset some people but, on a personal note, I must admit I am scared of Hillary becoming President... but just my opinion after keeping very close track as she has suggested that we do with ALL the candidates and my gut instinct when it all comes together is that I don't have a choice other then to fear her becomign president of the USA!

First thoughts: Game on

If people are going to vote for Clinton based on the fact that she cried then they aren't intelligent enough to vote in the first place! Does no one see how calculated it was? Sure it was real, actors in a movie cry real tears too! The Clinton Camp probably saw a poll that said she needed to "feel" so she pressed the empathy button and out came tears. Did no one notice how she smoothly went on to talk as if "okay...cry here...make political point there..." YUCK!

First thoughts: Game on

I just wonder if a few tears will work on Osama or other problems.

First thoughts: Game on

Reality Check #1: Hillary won because she has the strength, experience and, yes, humanity to be president from day one. If the tears of like her winning the Oscar wasn't enough, it was enough for the women to flock to her. It baffles me like you said how gullible they were to fall for that. Then you have Bill talking smack about Obama, saying that his speeches are nothing but a fairy tale. Did he forget that is exactly what he did when he ran for President to get the black vote, now it seems to be a problem. Also what do you take of Bill giving Hillary that dry hug last night, do you really think that he believes that she is the right person for the job? It is definitely going to be something to watch the rest of the way. If she fell under pressure that much because of the way she was treated in the Debate, then heaven forbid if anything happens if she becomes President. I have given generously to the campaigns of Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry. I have argued passionately for many years with my conservative friends and colleagues who claimed that the Clintons are committed to one thing only - themselves. Up to last week I was quite happy with any of the democratic nominees.

The recent display by the Clintons in NH has completely soured my view of them and of what they stand for.

I saw Bill Clinton - a former president of our country - transparently and inartfully play to sexist fears and innuendo in order to gain votes in NH. For all of the sometimes just criticisms of the other democratic candidates, I doubt that any of them would get away with this sort of open display of divisiveness.

I saw Hillary Clinton break into tears only to emerge to say that her opponents are wrong and she is right - exactly about what I do not know.

As I've watched both Clintons (particularly Bill) operate these last several days, I've experienced an unfamiliar combination of awe and sadness. It finally dawned on me that these people have no shame and that their values are really not mine. I saw, as have others on this discussion board, a combination of raw ambition and selfishness that has no interest in civility or the truth.

I nonetheless waited up last night to hear what Sen Clinton had to say for herself - to so-to-speak give her the benefit of any doubts about her husband and about her plans heretofore. What I heard must rank as one of the most unimaginative, inane, inarticulate political speeches we have been treated to for quite a long time. I certainly cannot be alone in this view as I am generally more of an ..actions speak louder than words.. type of person.

I am frankly already worried (for the party) about what she will say when the republicants ask: what 35 years are you talking about Hillary? ..Does this include the time of overbilled hours at the Rose Law Firm, your manifest incompetence in managing healthcare reform, you poor judgment in selecting an attorney general (not once but twice), cronism in the Travel office firings, the Law firm billing records that mysteriously disappeared and then just as mysteriously reappeared during a criminal investigation, Monicagate, your inability to stand up to the Bush administration against rushing into the Iraq war.....

Fellow dems, let's pray a silent prayer each day that by some miracle we do not find ourselves after this fall's election in the now familar predicament of having lost the white house, re-energizing the republican base (losing the congress), two new justices on the supreme court that do not share our values.

First thoughts: Game on

I'm sure glad the women in New Hamshire showed how the power of women can change what they thought was going to be Obama running like a freight train through New Hampshire and guess what the power of these women stopped him just like we can throughout the rest of the 48 states. No one knows how you might have previously answered a poll.

I think in New Hampshire Clinton got many women back after her most genuine moment. Also there may have been more indies interested in affecting the Republican race as they were hearing it was going to be Obama with ease on the Dem side. New Hampshire voters also still had very high undecideds going in and young voters weren't as much of a factor, even though it's a lot easier to vote in a primary than to caucus. Probably less work with them by the Obama campaign since the early days when it was supposed to be Hillary's by 20%

We'll see what the future holds but I don't think black voters should be too fearful on the basis this one instance that Obama isn't electable. He DID win indies in both of those very white states and indies will determine the winner in 2008.

White Dems, like those who voted for Hillary in New Hampshire, will mainly come to Obama in 2008 if he is the nominee. And the drive to get out the black vote will be the most massive in history.

If Obama wins, black voters will see that they really can make a difference and they will be much more of an asset to the Dem party. That could change the R/D balance in elections for years to come.

Here in Colorado, the fact that indies have been getting Dems elected has made them much more important to Dems and the result is Dems are coming up with candidates much more to their liking and keeping their concerns in mind. The same would be true for blacks, young people and women if they became a bigger force for Dems.

With indies and even a relatively small improvement in those other voting blocks, Dems can finally recover from the Reagan revolution and the middle class can use the Dems to get back what we're losing to a tiny corporate elite that keeps telling us how great their tax cuts are for us, while our buying power drops like a stone, our grandchildren's future gets looted and our constitution becomes optional.

First thoughts: Game on

Chris Matthews predicted that the Establishment would rain down a ton of bricks on the hopes and dreams of many Americans to start fresh, to feel inspired and to hope again. I think the media was snookered again..."I Love You" cell phone calls, crying on que (the day before the voting played non-stop on cable),demonstraters showing up at a campaign rally on que, flirting and cheek squeezing to deflect Chris's serious question, telling us that she was being ganged up on during the debate when it was clearly John Edwards attacking her because he wanted the #2 spot (notice the cutaway shot was of Edwards alone, but somehow Obama was included), and finally the best-old play straight out of the Rove playbook...blame the media when you are backed into a corner and claim favoritism...brilliant Mark Penn, simply brilliant.

And for those of you who think that Chris and Chuck Todd are Obama supporters, clear your television screen...that is so NOT TRUE! I thought Chuck Todd was going to punch someone the night of the Iowa caucuses he looked so upset that Obama had won. And to be fair to Chris, stop bashing him...Chris is an equal opportunity journalist.

I'm not supporting either candidate at this point, but let's be fair in our wanting to blame the media for everything that happened last night. I believe that the media was, as my kids say...played like a violin by the Clinton camp. And it worked. She won. Or maybe they allowed the Clinton camp to play them, so that they would have another narrative to get the election to Super Tuesday...sounds like a great ratings opportunity to me.

First thoughts: Game on

It doesn't matter. This is my take on what happened to the exit polls. I could not get a clear picture of what made “Hillary cry” from the media. My reaction to Hillary by what I saw and from the opinions of the media was negative.

However I think the women of New Hampshire experienced Hillary up close and they liked her. Then they saw the crap on the T.V. and they got pissed and called five of their girlfriends and those girlfriends each called five of their girlfriends and they went out to vote. At the exit polls I think they gave the media their version of a middle finger. In truth the media under estimated Hillary Clinton. However what the polls did show is people voted for experience.

Right now I’m more interested in Obama and think the media did him a big disservice. I also heard the college kids weren’t all back to school yet and just maybe they didn’t all vote because they thought Obama was going to win by double digits!

Keithette Laughton

First thoughts: Game on

The idea that the press & network anchors can control our voting process scares me beyond belief. They led us to believe that Hillary was history and Obama was in. Well, the people of independent New Hampshire had another idea and we now have a new political outlook. I am an Independent and had not formed an opinion about which candidate I would align with, however, I tell you now that I will support Hillary all the way. She was treated unjustly and for whatever reason, the media is responsible. Obama is charismatic and exciting and I was waiting for the time when he would tell us what his platform would be, what he felt about the real issues facing our country. He hasn't done that yet. He is only calling for change. We all want change from the Bush administration. I delayed making a decision about which candidate to vote for waiting to see what all the candidates propose. This anti-Hillary campaign has me supporting the underdog. I am supporting Hillary all the way because she has "real grit".

First thoughts: Game on

No surprise!
